HOW TO BE HAPPY, JOYOUS AND FREE OF ANY ADDICTION

"My favorite definition of spirituality is ‘whatever makes you feel peaceful, joyful and content,’” writes Cornell. Few people have ever adequately explained the connection between alcohol/drug recovery and the spiritual solution. How do 12-step programs work? There is a consistent universal, natural law and life-changing principle at work here. You have to start from the right starting-point, looking only at the "good" and never focusing on the problem itself. Look away from the actual thing you are most worried about. Replace your thought of fear or worry with a thought that makes you feel joy or comfort or happiness. Let it go. Don't over-analyze it or worry about your problems. "What you focus on, GROWS." Walk away and give it to your higher power.

Miracles happen when you're looking at the beauty in the universe and not at the problem. "A watched pot never boils." Einstein said, "Nothing can be solved at the same level it was created on." You have to go higher to a spiritual solution. Don't use your small brain.

I am interested in exploring the non-religious aspect of the term ‘spiritual,’ so we can bridge the gap between a narrow religious idea of God and a personal experience with a higher power. People in AA are always having "God shots" -- spine-tingling coincidences or glimpses of a beautiful, harmonious life where everything works together for good. The minute you surrender your drink/drug problem to the group as a higher power, and just relax, look around, stay in the present moment, you are already safe.

“What appear to be miracles are actually natural laws. Our loving attention to something literally alters the physical universe, according to Quantum Physics,” writes Cornell. “I have spine-tingling proof of a powerfully loving force that is interactive and responsive. In fact, it is activated by our belief — and absolutely responds to our trust in it.”

It takes our cooperation in order to manifest results in the material world. We have to take a leap and act “as if” we see the invisible strands of love holding life together. You see, behind the external picture, there is an invisible divine harmony, a language just as music and mathematics are an invisible language. You can’t destroy the number “3.” You can’t destroy the principle of mathematics. Therefore, you can’t destroy the principle of love. All life is good, ever-expanding good. Because we are all offshoots of this divine mind – we actually have creative power with our thoughts.

  1. Well gee Lydia, you're always writing these but I don't drink, smoke or take drugs.

I guess I am sort of addicted to hard work and exercise.

Does that require a 12 step program?

  2. Ok, and I guess the case could be made that I'm addicted to "fight club" here.

What's the 12 step process on that?

  3. And not to play Devils advocate here but by the logic of this article, shouldn't we be avoiding "fight club" here?

After all if negative emotions are to be avoided and positive ones focused on, this place is antithetical to that idea.

If I'm feeling good and want to get over it, then this place is the cure.

  4. ...just funnin ya Lydia,...we enjoy fight club.

  5. “The truth is that our finest moments are most likely to occur when we are feeling deeply uncomfortable, unhappy, or unfulfilled.

For it is only in such moments, propelled by our discomfort, that we are likely to step out of our ruts and start searching for different ways or truer answers.”

They must be worked through or else they remain, forever a barrier to the growth and development of the spirit.”

  7. rationalnation.blogspot.com I am presently engaged in a debate with a, hello, CONSERVATIVE blogger on this site. The article is "Left Wing/Democrat Industrial Complex Howling...." A little bit more evidence for your lying eyes to digest.

  8. Thanks Will but I don't recall being interested in what you say somewhere else.

Perhaps you could show your presentation to Lydia or Mike.

    They might be interested.

  9. Besides.

Didn't you just get through telling Lydia you weren't addressing any more comments to "this individual"?

I apologize for this, Lydia. From this point on, I will direct all of my comments toward you and ignore this individual.

  11. For that matter, didn't you just get through telling me that I meant "less than nothing" to you?

You are less than nothing to me (I suspect to the rest of the world, too)....

  12. For someone as lowly as me who means "less than nothing" and all, you sure are obsessed with what I believe or don't believe about you.

    Seems contradictory, you know?

  13. What do you care what this less than nothing individual thinks?

  14. For those of you who claim I never criticize "The Right", a recent entry from my blog, dated 22 May 2010:

Hannity, in spite of all of his partisan rancor and stupidity - he always seemed to be at least somewhat affable, a guy who you wouldn't mind having a brewski with. But now, I don't know, I'm not so certain about that anymore............................................................................................................Yeah, I'm talking here about the way that he's been treating the President. I mean, seriously, it's almost as if he's starting to despise Obama. And, please, PLEASE, don't get me wrong here. I myself have a lot of problems with the President and am NOT opposed to criticizing him. But, come on. The hyperbole that Mr. Hannity's been using of late has truly and utterly become obnoxious............................................................................................................For example, just the other night, he referred to the "blame America first chorus that Mr. Obama seems to have perfected." He also said that "the President will never let a good trash America first fest go to waste." And, yes, folks, these are just the ones that I can remember (trust me, though, pretty much all of his comments were like this). I mean, talk about a scoundrel (yeah, I'm talking about Hannity here and not the President), huh?

I try to provide a venue that explores all angles and points of view...

    Who's "those"?

I don't see anyone in this thread claiming that.

  16. "Life is difficult.

This is a great truth, one of the greatest truths. It is a great truth because once we truly see this truth, we transcend it.

Once we truly know that life is difficult - once we truly understand and accept it - then life is no longer difficult.

Because once it is accepted, the fact that life is difficult no longer matters."

  17. The Road Less Traveled is about the healing power of love. Love as a verb, an action.

You sent me that book, and I had lost my first copy or given it away years ago.

It is the most astounding book on "psychotherapy" and the power of love ever written.

As the Great Peacemaker said: "Love your enemies" -- this really works because the minute you love, all resistance melts away.

We have to do this hour by hour, minute by minute, even here on this blog -- and with those we find "evil and greedy," the ones who cut corners and caused this Gulf oil explosion (Haliburton)

Because it solves nothing to hold anger and hatred in our hearts. This does not mean we don't hold them accountable.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I forgot I sent that to you. I also forgot the parts about love healing but you're right, Peck taught about healing and the community and how positive emotions replace negative ones.

Guess I need to read it again, lol.

Worf and Mike spoke high praise for Johnny Moo Moo and Clippy.

Mike, Worf, Carl, Larry, Drewl, Clif,Kaye, Tall Texan, Freedom Fan, Voltaire, always got themselves in deep, because of their caustic attitudes.

It seemed that Clippy was the most vulgar, and even the crazy posts no longer appear.

Most people eventually tire of writing the same drivel day in and day out.

Worf and Mike need to move on in their lives, other than living in the past.

Perhaps this anonymous mouse should take his own advice finally.

  22. The one common denominator in this anonymous mouse's comments, is he always makes them whenever he sees a pleasant exchange between Lydia and myself.

    Wonder what that could indicate?
