Christmas as I remember

Christmas 1968

This holiday season Lydia asked me to do a little Christmas\Holiday message since she's currently wrapped up on set filming a movie. I know I personally used to love Christmas as a kid and when Christmas time approaches each year I often find myself wandering in my mind back to earlier times and the happy memories of Christmas morning awaking to nothing but presents and food and tasty treats and fun all day long. Man what could be better?  So for me I think the best Christmas message I can think of is one I remember that I heard on Christmas eve, 45 long years ago. A message that I, and almost everyone alive on the planet at that time also saw and heard.

1968 was a pretty hard year all around. Vietnam was starting to take people we knew, Robert Kennedy was murdered as was Doctor Martin Luther King. There were the massive riots that followed and things were just feeling pretty low that Christmas in the country in general. I know in my own family I could see the toll it had taken on my mother, as we lived in an area that was near the riots. And although our parents generally considered themselves republican they loved Jack and Bobby Kennedy, and when Bobby was shot it was a depressing blow. For me it meant having to stare at 3 days of nothing but a flag draped coffin being driven down the street or mourned over in state. I'd remembered from a boy seeing the same sight for his brother and this didn't do a lot for my enjoyment that year either.

But then that evening while watching TV they once again interrupted the program we were watching to bring us live audio and video from Apollo VIII, now in orbit around the moon.  Suddenly Bill Anders started reading from Genesis, "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth", while simultaneously showing us live video feed of the surface of the moon. When Anders began to read my mother who was in the kitchen doing the dishes came into the room with her dish towel in hand and stood there watching with me and the rest of the family. When he said "let there be light" they panned the camera off to the earth, and there we were. Staring back at ourselves.

Understand, until that time we'd not seen the earth from space. There were no photos in existence of the earth from deep space showing the full circle of the earth hung there in the blackness of space. We had "artist depictions" which normally showed a pale, pastel blue green planet rather than this bright, vivid glowing "big blue marble" staring back at us, or at least for those of us who had color TV that is which fortunately we did. It was an incredible sight, and gave you goosepimples to see. As Borman finished his message, I remember seeing a small tear in the corner of my mothers eye, and there was a warm glow in the room that I can't really describe, just a sense that I've never felt since. A sense that all was right with the world. God was "in his heaven" as it were. And I was too. Seeing our earth changed us. Time posted one of the best shots taken of the earth coming up from behind the moon and called it "Earthrise". This photo along with the events of that evening helped spark and drive the green revolution of the 70s that has continued to this very day.

Things seemed to change after that. Not rapidly. Slowly at first. But slowly attitudes began to shift. America was moving away from war and towards peace and prosperity. And although the Apollo program died when the war died just 4 years later, it left us with a momentum and a sense of "self" that we'd never had before.

Today we're in a similar state at times it seems with the incessant bad news we're spoon fed 24 hours a day 7 days a week, so I thought for Christmas wouldn't it be nice to go back for a few minutes and relive this milestone event in human history that many of us experienced and fondly remember? And for those who never saw this event first hand I invite you to take a peek into a wonderful Christmas eve I had 45 years ago this Christmas eve.

Truth is stranger than fiction. Lydia Cornell has been through a traumatic year, and I sat down with her to get a glimpse of the strange things going on in her life with men, and the incident regarding "suing" Kelsey Grammer - which came about because of a stalker. 

1)Lydia, tell us about "suing" Kelsey Grammer - which came about because of a stalker. 

"I found out I was suing Kelsey Grammer when I read the headlines on TMZ, Huffington Post, Daily Mail, Radar Online, The New York Post, and Yahoo in June of 2012: 'Kelsey Grammer Sued by Lydia Cornell After Both Get Duped in Ponzi Scheme,' says Lydia Cornell. When I tried to protest and correct the story, my counsel put a gag order on me. Then I discovered that the co-counsel in our case was a convicted felon posing as a lawyer who became my stalker who was really a hairdresser who had never gone to law school. And this was the person making most of the legal decisions in our case.

My question is: why can't I have a normal stalker like Sheryl Crow has?

On September 13, 2012, I was granted a dismissal with prejudice from the civil case. But just when I thought it couldn't get any weirder, my stalker, impersonating an "Attorney General", indicted me in the RICO act and named me as a defendant in my own lawsuit, along with our Judge (Hon. Jan Pluim); his Clerk, Kelsey Grammer, Gene Simmons, Corbin Bleu, James Hillis Ford, and all my fans and friends on Facebook, including acclaimed filmmaker Lonnie Senstock and Security expert Glen Ratcliff. He indicted me as a criminal in my own case against the alleged organized criminals! This was a Three Stooges court moment; one of the funniest moments in court history. 

I try to turn every tragedy into comedy, but this is no laughing matter. I am in fear for my life. This man violated my restraining order, posted death threats along with my home address, stole the identity of an authentic war hero, bullied my gay friends - and got the tabloids to go along with it.

Then something so terrifying happened, it could only occur in a David Lynch-Alfred Hitchcock movie. Since this is an ongoing investigation, there are secrets I'm not allowed to disclose yet. But it's as bizarre as a true-life version of "Breaking Bad."

I am no longer suing Kelsey Grammer, never intended to sue him, and hope any damage to his reputation is repaired."

Cornell, a beloved sex symbol best known for the classic series "Too Close for Comfort," more recently seen on HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and several award-winning independent films, has spent the better part of the last decade raising boys, working as an activist for women's issues, writing her upcoming humor book series, and preparing her return to TV and the airwaves, including her show "On the Edge w/ Lydia Cornell." Her show will broadcast on the top-rated iTunes radio network "Beats and Eats". Also featured on their network is former star of MTV's "Awkward", Matthew Fahey, "Hell's Kitchen" chefs Barret Beyer & Anthony Rodriguez, and sports broadcasters-turned-pop-culture podcasters, Ty Ray and Nick Gelso. "But I couldn't leave my marriage sooner because I was getting too much comedy material out of it," she writes.

DOES HOLLYWOOD HATE WOMEN? IF YOU CAN SERVE (or SERVICE) MAN, YOU MIGHT GET A JOB IN HOLLYWOOD IF YOU'RE AWOMAN

Women in the 1930s and '40s were accomplished, headstrong, interesting human  beings and  STARS in movies.

But today, from watching mainstream movies the question that comes up is: Do only boys have value in the universe?  Do women, as separate, thinking human beings, have a right to exist in movies, video games and TV shows?  

In most American media, it would appear that women are just objects for men's use. And there are only two or three uses for a girl. 

Are these the only options form the guy's point of view: CAN YOU BANG HER, CAN SHE NURTURE YOU?

Comment from Worf, one of my FAVORITE, (sexy) male commenters: "I have to disagree at least to a point. The movies I see coming out are all about beautiful women in tight leather outfits with guns blowing away bad guys. Even in the most popular genre out there, the Zombie flicks women seem to outweigh the men both in number and the likability of the character. The "Resident Evil" series is a prime example. Not only is the hero a woman, there are several other strong female leads in the roles. Another popular blockbuster series "X-Men" should have been called "X-Women". The strong leads were predominantly women except for Wolverine. All sorts of movies these days seem to focus on strong female leads.

Why do women have to wear tight-leather outfits?! Why is it always a man's world and a man's fantasy? These are not movies made for women with intelligence. This is a man's porn fantasy. Real women don’t like cartoon movies.

There are few if any movies that have great dialogue and are not about romance or blood lust or fantasy violence. There are few “geeky” nerdy cool intelligent women doing amazing cool intelligent thoughtful things -- and not desperately trying to catch a man either. Men get to have all the fun. We don't even get to be geeky -- unless we have a 22" waist. 

There is not one bit of intelligent material out there for me to watch.

I am not into the Housewives of Goldigger Hills or Redneck Hillbilly shows or Cable romance. I'm into smart, talky films – that make you think -- Da Vinci code, My Dinner with Andre, Manhattan, Annie Hall, and intelligent thrillers or psychological dramas like Erin Brokovich -- but they are nowhere to be found. 



I am also NOT into desperate mommy porn like 50 SHADES OF GREY. There is one intelligent grown up film per year, if that. Everything else is for little boys. Or boys my sons' age.

And forget older women altogether like the ‘Golden Girls” - there is not one movie about real women and the humorous struggles they go through to get through college or create art or get a business started.. or sing in a band or even dream a big dream… Remember “Social Network” and “The Descendants?” All these movies are from a man’s point of view. Very few movies from a woman’s point of view are GREENLIGHTED by major studios.

There aren’t even any movies about strong women going up against crappy husbands as Goldie Hawn, Diane Keaton and Bette Midler did in “First Wives Club”

 I hate to say the real reason why this is happening. I really don’t want to say it.

Kudos to Disney for finally hiring two female directors for their new animation movies, “Frozen” and … 



The Bechdel test (/ˈbɛkdəl/ bek-dəl) asks whether a work of fiction features at least two women who talk to each other about something other than a man. Many contemporary works fail this test of gender bias.

• Is there more than one character in the female that has lines and a real character name? In other words, she is not just a generic "Bartender" "Sexy woman," Young woman, Woman in park, etc. 
• Do these women talk to each other?
• Is their conversation about something other than the GUY they both like? 

From my research, confirmed by the Geena Davis Institute on Gender Bias in Media, women are not valued and not working.

1. Someone who will bang them (sex, hooker, girlfriend)

2. Someone who will nurture them (mom)

3. Someone who will bring them coffee (Secretary)

DREAM BIG ~ AT THE EDGE OF THE UNIVERSE

It probably looks higher from up there

When we find ourselves on the edge of a precipice, looking down at the depths of the chasm below, it's easy to think that this time we went too far, that our plan is far too risky, that our product is way too bizarre, that our behavior is just too weird...

The funny thing about perspective is that most bystanders don't see you standing on a precipice at all. They see someone doing something a little edgy, but by no means nuts.

Just about all commercial behavior is banal. Even in movies that deal with businesspeople, the characters don't dream nearly big enough about one's ability to change the culture or the enterprise.

You're far more likely to go not-far-enough than you are to go too far.

Internal monologue amplifies personal drama. To the outsider, neither exists. That's why our ledge-walking rarely attracts a crowd. What's in your head is real, no doubt about it, but that doesn't mean the rest of us can see the resistance you are battling (or care about it).

HOW TO GET OFF OF ADD MEDICATION: ADHD or ATTENTION DEFICIT DISORDER MEDICATION

After quitting ADD medication, a cup of coffee can help stablize your system. You can add natural stimulants. While making your morning coffee, add 1/8 of a teaspoon of cayenne powder and a teaspoon of Saigon cinammon directly on top of the fresh coffee grounds in a drip filter. Add water and let it drip. You can also take a bite of fresh ginger with your coffee. This activates your brain. Our pediatrician actually said that caffeine has the same effect as expensive ADD medications. 

After having a bad experience with Adderall, I was prescribed Vyvanse, which I was on for three years.

In August, 2013, I completely quit the medication. I weaned from the Vyvanse by titrating down for four weeks. The first two weeks I opened the 70 mg capsule and sprinkled half of it into my morning yogurt. The last two weeks, I sprinkled one-third into the yogurt so I was taking less and less each day.

Since I believe most dis-ease has an emotional component, even if it is genetically buried through generations of belief, I knew I didn't need to be on this medication. It interfered with my ability to connect and be fully conscious. In 12-step programs they call this 'conscious contact' with your inner self, higher power, or source of life, creativity and being.

And to be honest, I really love my ADD brain. I don't want to rein it in. In primitive times, man had to think on his feet in order to avoid danger. We are not made for long hours in front of a computer, focused only on one task. Some of us are meant to multi-task. It's the "hunter" instinct.

People with ADHD just don't fit into this society so well -- the society that lives in tick-tock mechanical man mode, as the spiritual humorist Stuart Wilde puts it. (R.I.P. Stuart Wilde, my favorite metaphysicst.  Here is a cautionary tale about his sudden death.)

I knew I had to have another catastrophic spiritual experience like I did when I quit drinking 19 years ago on September 11, 1994.

So on August 11, I woke up feeling tortured by guilt that I hadn't honored my one promise to myself: to   finish writing the book series I had started three years earlier when my husband left me for Gene Simmons.

That morning I saw a slim book sitting on my dresser that had been given to me by the inimitable comedy impressario L.G. Ross.  The book is called "The War of Art: Break Through the Blocks and Win Your Creative Battles" by Steven Pressfield.

I opened the book against my will and started reading. I was finished in an hour. I collapsed to my knees sobbing. This book gave me the kick in the butt I needed to finish what I started.

I got up, went to my computer and in two weeks I had finished the BOOK! Actually it's a book, movie and TV series that turns tragedy into comedy.

That day, I forgot to take the Vyvanse. I never refilled the prescription even though I had a few left. I am sending them to the moon on the next Virgin Moon flight. I don't want to pollute the water system. We are all too hyped up.

But in the meantime I am using natural stimulants like ginger, cayenne, cinnammon and yes, coffee!!

RED ALERT: How can a website like Rip Off Report honestly serve the public if it refuses to obey court-ordered restraining orders and police evidence -- and keeps publishing blatant lies by a psychopath stalker. Rip Off Report forces honest people to have to "pay" the Arizona-based website to repair the damage done to their reputations! This is extortion and is a federal crime as it crosses state lines. The website Rip Off Report should be held liable for destroying people's reputations then demanding money to take down lies. I don't understand why this website is allowed to profit from misery. Oh, I forgot, that's what happens when capitalism runs amuck.
