PELOSI TAKES TALLY FOR IMPEACHMENT

Who won the Republican debate tonight? Would love to hear your comments. Did John McCain actually say this sentence: "We have to dispose of 12 million people who are in the country illegally." If so, was it a Freudian slip?

How many times did Rudy mention how great he was during 911?
If I had to choose a Republican candidate, I'd choose Ron Paul. But I liked Mike Huckabee's brave response to one question. He said it is criminal for CEOs to take 100 million dollar bonuses, while employees who have worked there for 30 years are laid off and they lose their pension plans. He said this is criminal if its not taken care of or prosecuted, no Republican deserves to win in 2008. Here he clearly blamed the Republicans.

One thing for sure, the Reagan Library is a spectacular place. We visited it on Spring Break with the kids.

I WANT YOU!

Before we talk about the Iraq Accountability Act and bringing our troops home, here's how you can SUPPORT OUR TROOPS. This is a great organization that I just donated to. I tried sending my own homemade care packages to the troops, but this group does it better. Donate whatever you can; let's make our troops' last few months in Iraq full of as much comfort and love as we can send them!

Uncle Sam's question of service to country speaks to us all. Will you help those volunteer servicemen and women stationed far from home in harms way? Will you support our troops and Project: Hollywood Cares? They need donations and volunteer help. Project Hollywood Cares

When 1st Class Petty Officer Tyler Borgwardt of the 1/57 EOD company stationed in Iraq was sent a care package containing a selection of DVDs and CDs, he was invited to send us the names of his fellow service members who would also enjoy a package. This invitation is always extended in the personal letter we include in every individually addressed package we send. Here is his grateful reply...

"...Thank you very much for the package. I just received it today. Everyone here definitely agreed that this has been the best package to date. I can't thank you enough. I especially like the EMMY T-shirt. Its my new favorite shirt. Here's a list of people in our company who would be stoked to get a package from you guys..."

Petty officer 1st class Cedric Wilson
Petty officer 1st class Rob Lewis
Petty officer 2nd class Krishna Hadyen
Petty officer 2nd class Steve Andrews
Petty officer 2nd class John Mantle
Petty officer 2nd class Mike Healy
Petty officer 2nd class Eric Konkel
Petty officer 2nd class Curtis Hall
Petty officer 2nd class Kyle Dewey
Petty officer 2nd class Jeremiah Crum
Petty officer 3rd class Nate Breen
Chief petty officer Ron Olmsted

All these people are at the same address that you reached me at. Again thank you very much. We'll be getting some pics together soon and sending them to you.

Sincerely,
Tyler
**************************************************************************************************************************
This is pretty much standard operating procedure for Project: Hollywood Cares these days, - send one package and receive 19 requests. But what we are now able to do (AND DID) is send completely different programs and movies in each of the 20 boxes and create a video collection for all hands of this large EOD company to share and enjoy. It's the military way "to share".

By the way, what's an EOD company do in Iraq? It's an Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit who's daily job is handling, diffusing and disposing of IED's, booby traps and munitions.

Take a moment to again look at the appreciative reaction of these tough bomb experts in the photos above! Would you not agree that we are making a difference in helping our brave servicemen and women serving America far from home in extremely difficult duty!

God Bless the Navy's 1/57 EOD Company and the sacrifices & casualties these tough sailors have endured & suffered
in serving their country.........

PELOSI IS TAKING TALLY FOR IMPEACHMENT
WE HAVE LOST MORE AMERICAN LIVES IN IRAQ (WHICH HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH 911 AS THE PRESIDENT ADMITS) THAN WE LOST ON 9/11. WHAT ON EARTH CAN BE WORTH THE LOSS OF ONE MORE AMERICAN LIFE?

Here's a letter I received from John Conley, the disabled Marine combat vet who sent me his Purple Heart:

"The agenda of this Administration seems obvious to me. Until there is tangible proof to the contrary, I strongly suspect that the reason Bush won't accept a pull-out date from Iraq is because he's simply not allowed to by his boss, Dick Cheney, aka 'big oil's best buddy'. I'm not being sarcastic here. Smart alek in tone, maybe, but not sarcastic.

The grand plan (I'm sure this was addressed at the Cheney super-secret 'energy pow wow' with oil execs in 2000) was for Exxon Mobile and others to basically stake their greedy claims to oil drilling and production rights once we took control of the country while 'granting' the Iraqi government a pittance in royalties. The problem is that big oil is refusing to enter Iraq with workers until the violence drops drastically.

Although he'd never admit it, this scenario is the true indicator of success as described by Cheney and Co: that is, when big oil can begin stealing the country's oil without fear of being blown up. Peace is a great idea, but there will never be peace, short of big oil having control of the Iraqi fields.

This is in reality the only 'bench mark' these guys are interested in no matter what it costs in blood and treasure.

Just thought I'd drop you a note to brighten your day."

Clif, our veteran from the Gulf War asked me to post this today. Congressman Jack Murtha is right, Impeachment is a moral imperative. According to the Constitution, and the laws of our nation President Bush has committed many high crimes and misdemeanors, and should be removed from office before he causes more harm. His war powers should be immediately frozen. No person with morals or good conscience — and no true Christian — can stand by and allow this president to lie, break laws and usurp the U.S. Constitution the way Bush has.

If we can't impeach, can't we start the process and freeze Bush's war powers in the meantime? Read the historic resolution of the California Democratic Party below.

Speaker is taking tally for IMPEACHMENT:

PLEASE CALL Nancy Pelosi's office right now. House Speaker Pelosi's office is taking calls voting for Impeachment of Bush/Cheney at 202-225-0100.

------------------------------------------------
Sparked by an insurgency among delegates, the California Democratic Party has taken an historic step forward on the issue of impeachment. In a resolution affirmed by the full state party convention Sunday, the Democrats called on the U.S. Congress to use its subpoena power to investigate misdeeds of President Bush and Vice President Cheney – and to hold the Administration accountable “with appropriate remedies and
punishment, including impeachment.” The delegate insurgency was coordinated by PDA and our allies.

While Speaker Pelosi had declared impeachment “off the table,” the DemocraticParty rank-and-file has demonstrated its commitment to putting the issue “on” the table. And it’s no longer just the rank-and-file: Even among the members of the
convention’s Resolutions Committee (appointed by the California Party chair), the impeachment resolution was the top vote- getter (tied with one other resolution). Coming on the heels of mass actions and resolutions across the country in support of
impeachment, and Congressman Dennis Kucinich’s introduction of Articles of
Impeachment against Cheney, this action by the powerful California Democratic Party
builds on the pro-impeachment momentum.

The resolution refers to Bush and Cheney
having acted in a manner “subversive of the
Constitution” by. . .

1) using false information to justify the
invasion of Iraq

2) authorizing “the torture of prisoners of
war”

3) “authorizing wiretaps on U.S. citizens
without obtaining a warrant”

4) “disclosing the name of an undercover CIA
operative”

5) suspending “the historic Writ of Habeas
Corpus by ordering the indefinite detention
of so-called enemy combatants”

6) “signing statements used to ignore or
circumvent portions of over 750
Congressional statutes”

The resolution ends by calling for “vigorous investigation” and “appropriate remedies
and punishment, including impeachment.”

READ THE RESOLUTION

Thanks to all your help and support - we
really are making a difference!

Rudy's Two-Minute Rant About Ferret Owners

Trust me, you've never heard anything quite like Rudy Giuliani's rant about ferrets. It's much, much worse than you all can imagine. I know -- I was there.

Let me explain. Via Atrios, Ana Marie Cox over at Swampland points to a rather odd moment in Vanity Fair's profile of Rudy Giuliani, in which Rudy is quoted unloading on a ferret owner on his radio show as Mayor in the 1990s. VF quotes a few lines of Rudy's startling rant, then moves on.

But the sheer demented nature of Rudy's diatribe is only appreciable if you read the whole thing from beginning to end. How do I know this? I was listening to Rudy on the radio on that day in 1999 when he went off on the ferret owner. Indeed, I was the first to write about it as a reporter for The New York Observer, and it's since entered New York lore. Am I patting myself on the back? Hell, yeah -- this was far and away the best and most important story I've ever broken. Biggest scoop of my life. So without further delay, here's the full transcript of Rudy's ferret rant:

The following exchange occurred on Mayor Rudolph Giuliani's weekly radio show on WABC-AM on July 23. The caller was David Guthartz, a ferrets' rights activist who was upset by a June 29 directive by the city's Board of Health making it illegal to keep ferrets and a range of other animals as pets.

Mayor Giuliani: We're gonna go to David in Oceanside.

David Guthartz: Hello, Mr. Giuliani, we speak again.

    Giuliani: Hi, David.

Guthartz: Let me introduce myself again, David Guthartz, executive president of New York Ferrets' Rights Advocacy. Last week when we spoke, you said a very disparaging remark to me, that I should get a life. That was very unprofessional of you. Here we're trying to get something seriously done–

    Giuliani: I, I–

Guthartz: Without you talking over me, we're trying to get something very seriously done–

Giuliani: David, you're on my show. I have the right to talk over you.

Guthartz: But here's the thing: We're trying to get an important issue taken care of where the city is violating state law and I asked you last week if you care about the law.

Giuliani: Yes, I do care about the law. I think you have totally and absolutely misinterpreted the law, because there's something deranged about you.

    Guthartz: No, there isn't, sir.

Giuliani: The excessive concern that you have for ferrets is something you should examine with a therapist. Not with me.

Guthartz: Don't go insulting me again!

Giuliani: I'm not insulting you. I'm being honest with you. Maybe no one in your life has ever been honest with you.

Guthartz: I happen to be more sane than you.

Giuliani: This conversation is over, David. Thank you. [Mr. Giuliani cuts him off.] There is something really, really, very sad about you. You need help. You need somebody to help you. I know you feel insulted by that, but I'm being honest with you. This excessive concern with little weasels is a sickness.

I'm sorry. That's my opinion. You don't have to accept it. There are probably very few people who would be as honest with you about that. But you should go consult a psychologist or a psychiatrist, and have him help you with this excessive concern, how you are devoting your life to weasels.

There are people in this city and in this world that need a lot of help. Something has gone wrong with you. Your compulsion about it, your excessive concern with it, is a sign of something wrong in your personality. I do not mean to be insulting. I'm trying to be honest with you and I'm trying to give you advice for your own good. I know you, I know how you operate, I know how many times you called here this week. Three or 4 o'clock in the morning, David, you called here.

You have a sickness. I know it's hard for you to accept that, because you hang on to this sickness, and it's your shield, it's your whatever. You know, you gotta go to someone who understands this a lot better than I do. And I know you're real angry at me, you're gonna attack me, but actually you're angry at yourself and you're afraid of what I'm raising with you. And if you don't deal with it, I don't know what you're gonna do. But you called here excessively all week, and you called here at 3 o'clock in the morning. And 4 o'clock in the morning. Over weasels. Over a ferret.

So I know this is difficult and tomorrow one of the newspapers will write how mean I am and how cruel I am and all this other stuff, but I believe, because my father and mother taught me this, that you should be honest with people. And I am giving you the benefit of 55 years of experience having represented hundreds and in some cases thousands of people on either side in the courtroom, having handled insanity defenses and cases.

You need help! And please get it! And you don't have the right to call here at three o'clock in the morning, harass the people on my staff, because of your compulsion. So, David, see what you can do to get help. But we can't help you. We don't have the professional expertise to help you. Now we're gonna move on to Richard in the Bronx.

I don't know if David called Rudy's office at 3 in the morning or not, but either way, it's pretty strange indeed to hear someone who's reached the pinnacle of New York politics still feeling the need to stomp all over someone for two straight minutes merely because he's asked you not to take his pet away from him.

He just said that the estimate they gave to the President said Saddam was "FIVE TO SEVEN YEARS AWAY FROM A NUKE", and it added "MODERATE CONFIDENCE".

In other words, they were 5 to 7 years away from even building a nuke, AND, they were only MODERATELY confident that they were even that close!

This is what Bush was given, and he presented it as an IMMINENT THREAT.

  70. From Axis of Logic:

"The Iraq 'war', as all others before it, was begun solely to further the venal and rapacious interests of American business and power. The war was justified on totally mendacious grounds, invented by the government, and spread like fungus by major media. The major media depends on the kindness and advertising of the very people who benefit the most from the war, and it participated with great vigor in the selling of the war and its justification, moral and otherwise.

The business interests that wanted the war, paid the government, and elected officials to create a scenario where the war could be justified and prosecuted. The business interests that wanted the war, paid the media and its journalists to not just go along but play a strong and active role in selling the lie. One so-called "progressive" voice was heard- that of Norman Solomon, ( of the so-called Progessive Democrats, if your stomach can take it) who got the job of explaining gosh how did this all happen? Solomon appears to be angling to run for something pretty soon. He has turned to a Politicians' Ptolemaic Progressiveness-- perchance he will run on the Ostrich Party ticket. "Well", Norman explained, "we were all bamboozled."
    Oh.

Never mentioned: the hundreds, the thousands of anti war blogs, organizations, newspapers, monthlies, writers, and just plain folks, who saw and loudly and demonstratively spoke the truth and who were purposefully ignored, derided-- and often persecuted- for their actions. Never even whispered: the fact that millions of people marched and demonstrated and fought to stop the wars.

  74. Former CIA Boss Out of Loop on Parts of His New Book

Former CIA Director George Tenet said today that he was not included in discussions about key portions of his book that have been called into question by eyewitnesses to the events recounted.

“There was no serious debate at the publisher’s office, at least none that included me, about whether to retain certain questionable assertions in my book,” Mr. Tenet told 60 Minutes correspondent Scott Pelley. “And yet, as usual, it looks like I’m going to take the heat for what appears in those pages just because I happen to be the author.”

Mr. Tenet’s book, “At the Center of the Storm“, explains that during his tenure as the nation’s leading intelligence officer, he was intimately involved in many decisions that turned out well, but left “out of the loop” by White House officials on most situations that, in hindsight, have turned out badly.

Among the problematic passages in the book, Mr. Tenet claims that former Pentagon adviser Richard Perle said, on September 12, 2001, that Iraq must pay for the 9/11 terror attacks. Mr. Perle denies making the remark, and says he was out of the country at the time that Mr. Tenet claims he talked with him at the White House.

Publisher HarperCollins has issued an “author’s intelligence estimate” that the book is based on information from a usually reliable source, and that its case against former National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice and former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld is “a slam dunk.”

The News Teams were assaulted, cameras knocked over, cameramen and journalists bludgeoned with batons.

This is beyond illegal. The police do not have that authority. They cannot just beat journalists who are there with press passes and permissions.

At this point, we have to ask ourselves this.

Or better yet, who the hell are the good guys?

Didn't you know? They can do that now!

At any time, for any reason, the police or the government, can enter your home, with or WITHOUT your knowledge.

They can search, seize and even leave behind listening and video devices. They can arrest you for no reason, and you can be taken away in the night, with no rights to an attorney, or rights to hear the charges against you, if there are any, or to see the evidence against you.

They can do this to ANY American at ANY TIME, courtesy of the Patriot act.

All they have to do is say, "he looked like a terrerrist".

AP: Internal DoJ Probe Targets Goodling

The Justice Department is investigating whether its former White House liaison used political affiliation in deciding who to hire as entry-level prosecutors in U.S. attorneys' offices around the country, The Associated Press has learned.

Doing so is a violation of federal law.

The inquiry involving Monica Goodling, the former counsel and White House liaison for Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, raises new concerns that politics might have cast a shadow over the independence of trial prosecutors who enforce U.S. laws.

Justice spokesman Dean Boyd confirmed Wednesday that the department's inspector general and Office of Professional Responsibility were investigating Goodling's role in hiring career attorneys — an unusual responsibility for her to take.

Goodling "may have taken prohibited considerations into account during such review," Boyd told the AP. "Whether or not the allegation is true is currently the subject of the OIG/OPR investigation."

A lifelong Narcissist like Chimpy does whatever suits him-he doesn't really care who else gets hurt in the process, because other people only matter so far as their usefulness to him.

He's a permanent child. He was brought up to expect that his every whim will be gratified, and that's what he expects. The rage of an overindulged child is incredibly dangerous if the child has access to dangerous things.

Maybe. It could also turn out that the military will refuse his orders. We all know that day is coming, and it's probably coming pretty soon.

I guess it adds one to Bush's score card. Everyone is saying what he said, that no one had any decision in the firings.

Well if thats true, then its the "decider" who decided.

    Which leaves only impeachment.

Oh, I am well aware of that. But there are too many in the Armed Forces who are of the demographic Chimpy most loves to persecute. And we see new examples of officers at every level who believe in the oath they took every day. I'm willing to bet that there are more hostile to Chimpy than there are willing to do whatever he wants. He hasn't had nearly enough time to clean them out yet.

  160. Bush Approval Rating Falls to 28%,
Lowest Level So Far, in Harris Poll

President Bush's approval rating slipped to new lows in the most recent Harris Interactive survey, but he's not alone: For the first time since the series began, all of the political figures and institutions included in the survey have negative performance ratings.

Of the 1,001 American adults polled online April 20-23, only 28% had a positive view of Mr. Bush's job performance, down from 32% in February and from a high of 88% in the aftermath of the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. The current rating is his weakest showing since his inauguration.

28% is some where the sludge level starts isn't it?

Oh really? Perhaps you could cite an example.

On the contrary, it's almost always libs who want to throttle free speech, ban opposing points of view by branding them as bogus "hate speech", confiscate all privately owned firearms, outlaw any expression of religion in public places, force people to drive only cars they approve, force workers to pay union dues, and squeeze as much as possible from our society's high achievers.

We National Socialists are enemies, deadly enemies, of the present capitalist system with its exploitation of the economically weak ... and we are resolved under all circumstances to destroy this system.

True, that is why every sane adult free citizen should be armed.

That's what keeps power in the hands of the people. Then the people can tell their government what to do instead of vice versa like in Europe.

Bullshit. Right here is an example.

Fascists lie. You are a liar. It is well know, and documented to death, that Hitler's "socialist" rhetoric was introduced to get the support of the German rank-and-file behind him. That you would even try to use this kind of a tactic says more about your own intelligence-and intent-than ten thousand things I might have to say about you. And who do you use to "prove" your stupid assertion? Your credibility is slightly less than your hero's.

Fascism is an authoritarian political ideology (generally tied to a mass movement) that considers individual and other societal interests inferior to the needs of the state, and seeks to forge a type of national unity, usually based on ethnic, religious, cultural, or racial attributes. Various scholars attribute different characteristics to fascism, but the following elements are usually seen as its integral parts: nationalism, authoritarianism, militarism, corporatism, collectivism, totalitarianism, anti-communism, and opposition to economic and political liberalism.....

....In February 1920, the National Socialist German Workers Party (NSDAP) published its first programme which became known as the "25 Points". In the programme the party refused to accept the terms of the Versailles Treaty and called for the reunification of all German people. To reinforce their ideas on nationalism, equal rights were only to be given to German citizens. "Foreigners" and "aliens" would be denied these rights.

To appeal to the working class and socialists, the programme included several measures that would redistribute income and war profits, profit-sharing in large industries, nationalization of trusts, increases in old-age pensions and free education.
    ...

...Soon afterwards Eric Ludendorff arrived. Ludendorff had been leader of the German Army at the end of the First World War. He had therefore found Hitler's claim that the war had not been lost by the army but by Jews, Socialists, Communists and the German government, attractive, and was a strong supporter of the Nazi Party.

I'm stopping right here, because I can come up with a thousand of these, not one of which will be from a right wing blogger. Not only are you a Fascist in philosophy, you are an idiot in reality.
