That is totally consistent with other figures that say that Medicare only pays for 50% of a regular patient's health care costs. They only pay at 80% (Medicaid only 60%) and, plus, a lot of the other things they don't pay for at all. The other group does sound more partisan, but all that I referenced from them was they said it is more expensive and time-consuming to process Medicare claims than private claims. That sure sounds plausible to me. And, yes, the story on doctors threatening to not take Medicare if the threatened cuts take place, that one was from CNNMoney.com.
