Great to hear about your novels; lo...Hi Jurassic,

Great to hear about your novels; love the title of your opus AMERICAN ZEN.

I am talking about materialism vs. the things of the heart and the lack of nuance today in art.

As a society, we've become immune to more grotesque forms of violence and sex. Without love.

I love the hidden, unspoken erotics of abstinence.Fans and Friends of Lydia Cornellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01512357844572930333noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9102706.post-3145732531244890292010-07-25T08:58:49.722-07:002010-07-25T08:58:49.722-07:00Lydia, I'm too broke to go to the movies. I...Lydia, I'm too broke to go to the movies. I've been unemployed since April last year and lost my unemployment last month (Then to compound our financial difficulties, my fiancee got laid off two Fridays ago). But I have to admit to an addiction to well-made action movies.

I see where you're coming from. Yet, being a novelist, myself, I understand the necessity of putting real life where ever and whenever germane to your storyline and violence, unfortunately, is a fact of real life.

My own novels (all unpublished- literary agents are a stupid, uneducated lot) tend to be violent, even though my magnum opus, American Zen, is a funny, tragic and always poignant examination into neglected friendship and religious and secular salvation. It's very atypical for me yet it's my proudest accomplishment.

Still, unfortunately, violence has its place in literature as in real life. Sometimes it's unavoidable.jurassicporkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01673461210301442978noreply@blogger.com
