THE WORLD IS GOOD ~ LURCHING TOWARD A CIVILIZED NEW AMERICA ~ HAPPY NEW YEAR

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

The world is not ending; it is just beginning.
We are lurching awkwardly out of our growing pains toward "enlightenment" an annoying term.

2013 is going to be a great year. I used to say that we were snowballing toward excess and chaos — but it had to happen this way..  that the insane greed, porn and violence in this country have gone so far over the top that there is only one way to go: UP.  We have made the taboo all too thrilling (and profitable) because of our Puritan ethic. We are a nation of masochists: criticizing each other, shaming each other, chastising each other for our "sins" and lusts —  which helps sales of porn and guns and the "forbidden." Death has become sexier than sex, as I wrote in my article about 'extermination speaker' Ann Coulter, aka "Dragon lady of Hate Speech."

At home December 29, 2012

And we impose so many harsh punishments for innocent mistakes. I just ran out to my car to put another quarter in the meter, in the rain and saw a $53 parking ticket on my car for being THREE MINUTES late. Are we a fascist state?  If this is the kind of government people are against, I'm against it too. But these exhorbitant crimes started with Congress witholding a living wage and proper taxes for the common good. Cities are hungry and desperately imposing higher fines because of the corruption and greed. It all started with a certain trickle down mindset.

Like debauched piggy teenagers speeding toward our own demise, we've seen too much, done too much, been too naked. We've raped, pillaged, invaded, coveted, envied, forced ourselves on nations, started false wars and generally lusted after excess. We praised "selfishness" as a vitue, We made preteens sexy as a form of advertising pedophilia and pretended it was freedom of speech. And everyone blamed the artists for the loose morals of Hollywood, when in fact, it was the opposite: it the people making huge advertising profits by over-sexualizing teens and objectifying the young. It was all about ratings. It has always been about the dollar, the bottom line.

The filmmakers and artists I know loathe homogenized pop culture and are almost allergic to high ratings for ratings sake. NOt fans of the middle, the lowest common denominator or the bell curve, most artists are too sensitive to withstand The Jerry Springer Show. Someone is buying it: lovers of red meat in the modern gladiator forum. The best "liberal" filmmakers like Spielberg, Payne, Stone, Soderbergh, Affleck, Damon love films and TV shows with heart, depth and social justice.

But it had to happen this way. We had to reach a chaotic, criminally insane breaking point. And it might get worse before it gets better. We are so immature; we thrive on style over substance. And though we've had too much too soon, reason and sanity are returning, despite appearances. The physical picture, the so-called "reality" we see with our senses has very little to do with reality. Like the software inside a computer, it's what's invisible that counts: the underlying harmony, love and hope we all hold in our hearts. Our desire for justice, equality, peace and the common good. These are the principles that hold mankind together. These are spiritual qualities. It's a "thought universe" and thoughts make the world, as Ralph Waldo Emerson put it.

After we've had all the perversions, all the sex, drugs and rock and roll.. the excess crap and  materialism -- where else can we go but to the real, the love that runs all things, feeds all things, forgives all things?

Christmas 2012: Chazzy, Jack and Grandma (my mom)

THE GOOD
We have had countless miracles. Every day, focus on the good around you and if you are suffering expect a miracle. Miracles are actually natural laws. God is LOVE, not an anthropomorphic (man-like being) sitting in the sky. Prayer is the invisbile transfer of love to another. This has nothing to do with religion. Religion can be soothing and kind and wonderful, but it's still a man-made institution that is flawed and corruptible. But GOD is in every heart. The Kingdom is within you. Love one another. There is no power greater than LOVE.

  2. AWARD for BEST COMMENTS from the prior post on Gun Control:

From Clif, a military combat veteran Marine:

"each American must ask themselves the question, "am I brave enough to live without a gun?".

I do ... since Desert storm I haven't carried a weapon on my person.

I had my fill of death and dying from the barrel of a weapon.

I go where I want, and do as I please, with out the fear filled need to fondle a weapon at all, times. Sorry dummytron, just because some people demand the right to live in total fear, so much fear they need numerous guns to make themselves feel better, it does not mean the rest of us have your deep personal mental affliction.

    A simple fact dummytron.

In homes with guns, the homicide of a household member is almost 3 times more likely to occur than in homes without guns. A gun in the home is twelve times more likely to result in the death of a household member or visitor than an intruder. Guns in the home are also associated with a fivefold increase in the rate of intimate partner homicide, as well as an increased risk of injuries and death to children.

Like the State Trooper in Oklohoma who left his weapon on his bed, where his three year old nephew found it, and killed himself.

    Or end like this tragedy did;

A 20-year-old man shot and killed Veronica Soto, a young mother of two, in an apparent road rage incident on Thursday. Soto and her husband had gone out to a nearby Jack in the Box in the Houston area when they became involved in a confrontation with drivers in two other cars. The accused killer Mark Trevino, and the victim's husband pulled guns.

"Investigators said Mark Trevino came to a stop, ran into his home on Addicks-Clodine, grabbed a rifle and started shooting. Soto was shot in the head. Her husband also pulled out his gun. 'They started shooting back and forth and the bullet went through the windshield, hit her and went out the back windshield,' said Matthew Soto, the victim’s brother-in-law," reported a Houston television station.

The station continued: "Soto’s distraught husband drove to his sister-in-law’s house on Las Brisas near Plaza Libre for help, but it was too late. The mother collapsed and died at the scene."

Soto had two daughters, ages 7 and 14. She just turned 30.

But keep convincing yerself, if ya fondle yer gun enuf, yer safe; dummytron.

There isn't much more information other than the above. I am a physician; here is my speculation, which should be taken with a grain of salt. (I also posted this on DailyKos)

The doctors said that her "blood clots" were related to her concussion. The blood clots were being treated with anticoagulants.

It is possible, but unlikely, that she has a subdural hematoma- a blood clot that forms between the dura mater (the outer lining attached to the skull) and the arachnoid mater (the inner lining adhering to the brain).

A subdural hematoma is usually caused by relatively minor head trauma which causes a tearing of small veins. The gradual accumulation of blood causes headaches and neurological symptoms.

I doubt that she has a subdural hematoma because this is NOT treated with anticoagulants. Usual treatment is observation for small clots -or- surgical removal of the clot if the patient has significant neurological symptoms or rapid growth of the clot.

More likely is a deep venous thrombosis (DVT) in the veins of the leg.

Secretary Clinton has several risk factors for a "hypercoaguable state;" a situation where her blood is more likely to clot in low-flow blood vessels like the veins her legs.

    Her risks factors include:

    - a recent viral gastroenteritis
    - dehydration
    - bed rest due to the concussion
    - and most importantly, prolonged air travel.

The treatment for a DVT is anticoagulants.

If she does indeed have a DVT, the prognosis is good. The biggest danger is that a large part of the clot would break off and travel to the lungs, where it would block blood flow through the lungs.

Another danger is the risk of anticoagulation- either not enough, leading to growth of the clot -or- too much causing dangerous bleeding. With proper monitoring (which I am sure she will get!) the risk is low.

After several days of an injectable anticoagulant, she would be sent home on an oral anticoagulant.

    We wish her well!!

An interesting note is that a very similar thing happened to Richard Nixon during his 1960 campaign for the presidency.

Wanna bet none of the blabber mouths who publicly attacked her for faking it, apologize?

You know people like Florida Rep Allan West, John Bolton, Monica Crowley, Kimberly Guilfoyle, Greg Gutfeld, Charles Krauthammer, Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, and the rest of the brain dead propagandists at fake news.

Former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman (R), who ran for the Republican presidential nomination in 2012, had harsh words for his party in an interview published Sunday in Britain's Daily Telegraph.

"The party right now is a holding company that's devoid of a soul and it will be filled up with ideas over time and leaders will take their proper place," he said.

"We can't be known as a party that's fear-based and doesn't believe in math," he added. "In the end it will come down to a party that believes in opportunity for all our people, economic competitiveness and a strong dose of libertarianism."

Sacramento New Year's Eve Shooting: 2 Killed In Violence After Fireworks

    Posted: 01/01/2013 11:06 am EST | Updated: 01/01/2013 11:06 am EST

A deadly shooting broke out in Sacramento killing two people and wounding three others during New Year's Eve festivities.

Police arrested a 22-year-old suspect who allegedly opened fire during an argument inside a bar in Old Sacramento, CBS reported.

A 35-year-old patron and a 20-year-old employee were killed, police said. A woman who was with the 35-year-old man was injured, too. Hearing the gunshots shortly after a 9 p.m. fireworks display, a security guard brandished a firearm. He exchanged fire with the suspect and both men were injured.

"I saw the gun in his hand," a witness told CBS. "He was just screaming and shooting."

Another woman told KTXL that she saw the gunman fire 10 rounds into one of the victims.

The shooter fled the bar, but was apprehended by police.

    1. GOper wingnuts do not take violence seriously;

Like refusing to renew the Violence against women act, for purely partisan political reasons. and kissing El Rushbos fat arse when he demeans women for asking for medical health care many NEED.

Politically support people who attack minorities, like in the Trayon Martin Case.

Defending corporations from lawsuits when their products directly contribute to the violence.

    But another reason is the crux of this very disturbing story;

Hackers produce disturbing video evidence in Ohio gang rape case

a minor teen girl is raped by two local football team stars.

and the community like the local sheriff and head coach don't do a honest investigation, defends the criminals,

Coach Saccoccia regularly breakfasts with the county sheriff.

One of the boys accused of suppressing the crime is the son of a county prosecutor.

It requires lots of work and efforts from you- from reading past lessons in high school, taking physically visible classes and or even online preparation classes everything that will help you pass different college entrance exams of different universities. However not only you get the best college by taking exams and preparation seriously but there are other benefits too that come out by preparing for competitive exam.

White House Petition Pushes For Trillion-Dollar Platinum Coin

The Huffington Post | By Bonnie Kavoussi

    Posted: 01/04/2013 1:42 pm EST | Updated: 01/04/2013 1:49 pm EST

There's a push to have the president create a special weapon to avert another debt ceiling crisis. That special weapon is a trillion-dollar platinum coin, and it's a proposition the Obama administration may be forced to soon consider.

The movement is gaining steam, and the latest indication is a new White House petition calling for the measure. Created on Thursday, the petition already has gained 2,067 signatures as of 1:17 p.m. Friday. Any petition that garners 25,000 signatures requires a White House response. From the petition:

With the creation and Treasury deposit of a new platinum coin with a value of $1 trillion US Dollars, we would avert the absurd-yet-imminent debt ceiling faceoff in Congress in two quick and simple steps! While this may seem like an unnecessarily extreme measure, it is no more absurd than playing political football with the US -- and global -- economy at stake
    .

Thanks to a quirky law, the government can mint a platinum coin worth any amount. It then can deposit it at the Federal Reserve to pay off $1 trillion in debt, which would swing the government far below its debt limit.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I think that's a fantastic idea. Just screw the congress.

They're playing games with the US economy, and global economy because of idiots like Grover Norquist and the right wing extreme IDIOT TEAT PARTY.

They're stupid. Just ignorant treasonous rubes who'd crash a GLOBAL ECONOMY to make a point. Personally if I were President I'd send out the Dept of Homeland security to round them up and have them shot for treason.

They're purposely damaging the US economy for their own political gain, and worse they're crashing the global economy too.

They're doing it on purpose, and they're lucky I'm not President because I'd show the world how we deal with treason.

Line em up in front of the Washington Monument, and have them shot for conspiracy to commit treason and sabotage to the United States of America.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Anyway the Trillion dollar coin is a great idea. The small drop in our global currency value would be well worth the savings to our overall economy.

We'd bypass Congress and get on with the business of growing the country which in turn would raise our international currency in response to an increase in our GDP.

As long as the US is investing in its own country, infrastructure, technology, housing, science, medicine, etc ....our dollar will always be strong.

It's when we stop, ...and start sitting on our money like hoarders, that we start to sink.

Bush Sr ran us deeper in debt,

Clinton tried to turn the country around, and pay off the debt, but when Bush got into office they threw that idea out the window, just started running up more debt while screeching about the poor, and the wing nuts have never stopped ever since.

  62. And yeah, you, sorority girl. Just in case you accidentally wander into a voting booth one day, there's some things you should know, and one of them is, there's absolutely no evidence to support the statement that we're the greatest country in the world.

We're 7th in literacy, 27th in math, 22nd in science, 49th in life expectancy, 178th in infant mortality, 3rd in median household income, number 4 in labor force, and number 4 in exports. We lead the world in only 3 categories: number of incarcerated citizens per capita, number of adults who believe angels are real, and defense spending, where we spend more than the next 26 countries combined. 25 of whom are allies.

Now, none of this is the fault of a 20 year old college student. But you, nonetheless, are without a doubt a member of the worst period generation period ever period.

So when you ask, "what makes us the greatest country in the world?" I don't know what the fuck you're talking about. Yosemite?

    Clinton handed Bush a SURPLUS.

Bush took it, and instead of paying down debt, investing in our country, he DIVIDED IT UP into TINY INSIGNIFICANT SUMS and handed it out! I got 300 bucks. Married people got 600 bucks. Corporations got huge tax breaks.

At the very same time they are telling soccer moms to send their kids to schools where they want armed patrols.

.... and refusing to compromise at all.

Not a good recipe for future electoral gains at all.

Cause if they lose even a fraction of the soccer moms and older white people they ain't a majority party in 2014, and they lose the power to stop the President from completing his agenda of righting the country after the 8 years of mis management of Bush and the right wing extremists.

  68. Here's a simple idea,

Have the right wingers propose the cuts they want, and democrats propose how to fix the tax code so the rich don't get off as easily as they do with their rich guys deductions.

Then let the American people weigh in as to what they want their REPRESENTATIVES to actually do.

Me thinks screwing old and the poor won't be so popular.

but forestalling the richer among us the ability to skip out on taxes through loop holes and special rates for their main sources of income might be on the chopping block.

but the changes to the tax code that allows extra rich guys like R-money to pay less than 10% in taxes, (he already has sent in the updated returns for 2012 after he lost), if put into a bill,

it would pass by a larger margin than the Biden-McConnell deal did.

Lee Ermey, John Sigler, Wayne Anthony Ross, Joe Allbaugh, Bob Barr, Ken Blackwell, John Bolton, Bob Brown, Cleta Mitchell, Graham Hill, Matt Blunt , Chuck Norris, John Burtt, Rep. Don Young, Rep. Dan Boren. who all are currently board members of the NRA,

We would have waiting periods, background checks for 100% of sales, and enforceable effective laws.

As the Educational Fund to Stop Gun Violence points out:

One only has to look to the NRA’s Board of Directors to discover that the organization is operated by a group of individuals who promote racism, misogyny, homophobia, anti-immigrant animus, religious bigotry, anti-environmentalism, and insurrectionism. Some active board members have even had close relationships with brutal dictators in outside nations. Put simply, members of the NRA leadership no longer make for polite company.

Moreover, while superficially bipartisan, the NRA is closely aligned with the most extreme elements in the Republican Party and has brought a number of the GOP’s most influential operatives into positions of power within the organization. The GOP and NRA are now locked in a symbiotic relationship where Republican legislators advance the NRA’s extreme agenda while the NRA musters its hardcore supporters to serve as attack dogs for a wide range of conservative causes.

Four dead after police standoff in Colorado

By By P. SOLOMON BANDA | Associated Press – 8 mins ago

AURORA, Colo. (AP) — A gunman barricaded inside his Colorado home fired shots at police from a second-story window before he was killed as SWAT officers stormed the home Saturday. Once inside, they found the bodies of three other adults, authorities said.

The suspect, whose name was withheld by police, held officers at bay for nearly six hours after neighbors reported gunfire at 3 a.m. inside the modest townhome in the Denver suburb of Aurora, said police Sgt. Cassidee Carson. It wasn't known if officers shot the suspect or if he shot himself.

Investigators said two men and a woman appeared to have been killed before officers arrived.

The suspect shot at police who approached the front of the home with an armored vehicle and who fired tear gas around 8:15 a.m. He was killed when he fired at officers from the second-story window about 45 minutes later, Carlson said.

"After we arrived on scene, there were no more shots fired up until he fired at us," Carlson said. "During this time he was all over the house. He moved furniture. He was throwing things. He was agitated. He was irrational."

  74. Climate change won't wait

Societal change usually happens slowly, even once it's clear there's a problem. That's because, in a country as big as the United States, public opinion moves in leisurely currents. Change often requires going up against powerful, established interests, and it can take decades for those currents to erode the foundations of our special-interest fortresses. Think civil rights, gay marriage, equal rights for women.

With climate change, however, there simply isn't time to waste. It's not a fight, like gay marriage, between conflicting groups with conflicting opinions. It's a fight between human beings and physics. And physics is entirely uninterested in human timetables. Physics couldn't care less if precipitous action raises gas prices or damages the coal industry in swing states. It couldn't care less whether putting a price on carbon slowed the pace of development in China or made agribusiness less profitable.

  75. This is why;

    Global Heating Revisited

We have zero years to solve our addiction to hydrocarbon energy.

How many times have we heard: We have a decade, or we have three years, or we until 2020? In the 1980s, ecologists used to say, “We have to solve this by 2000”, which is now a decade behind us. We don’t have 10 years or 3 years, or any years. We are already far behind any sort of timeline that might have kept Earth’s temperature from rising +2°C from the pre-industrial era. We are now gambling our progeny’s future with runaway heating that could ravage human agriculture, devastate the remaining forests, increase extinctions, and flood every coastal city on Earth.

A comprehensive study of future temperature increase, the MIT Integrated Global Systems Model (A.P. Sokolov, P.H. Stone, et. al., American Meteorological Society's Journal of Climate, 2009) doubled the earlier 2003 estimates.

The MIT group ran 400 variations of the model, changing certain input parameters, including variations in physical conditions, human activity, economic policy, and so forth. The projections indicate a median probability by 2100 of CO2 concentration reaching 550 ppm and a median probability of Earth heating by 5.2 degrees Celsius (°C), with a 90% probability range of 3.5 to 7.4 °C, compared to the 2003 estimates of 2.4°C.

The lower bound, or minimum projected heating, is now + 2.4°C by 2100, with a “very small probability” it will be this low, and only with drastic, immediate, global policy changes that reduce our reliance on oil and gas.

We had time when Reagan was spreading the myths and lies about climate change the ideology of extreme right wing American exceptionalism and free market capitalism demanded he spread to maximise short term profits no matter the cost to future generations.

    We squandered it.

We had time while the US Congress wasted years going after a president because he won and their party lost.

    wew squandered it.

we had time while Bush and Cheney did everything they could to help the oil corps and their bankers to keep the party roilling, but they decided to invade Iraq for its oil, and squandered the time we had left.

Time is up, the changes have begun, and given the simple fact 30 years of more and more extreme changes are already baked in, with no political will to do a damned thing because too many people don't want to give up their cushy life styles, is going to damn the next two generations to a life nobody would want to have to live through, and generations after that very little chance at all.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The White House is weighing a far broader approach to curbing U.S. gun violence than just reinstating a ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, the Washington Post reported on Sunday.
A working group led by Vice President Joseph Biden is seriously considering measures that would require universal background checks for gun buyers and track the movement and sale of weapons through a national database, the newspaper said.

    The right wing hack publishes in a on line paper calling itself Pravda;

    But the truth is;

This article by “Stanislav Mishin” was originally published in the author’s blog (see below) and later by the unaffiliated site PRAVDA.ru online. Readers should note that, despite the name, the latter is NOT the official organ of the old USSR, which was closed by order of Boris Yeltsin in 1991. While Pravda.ru runs many interesting articles, it is often an instrument for the expression of Murdoch-style yellow journalism and Great Russian chauvinism. In any case, since the piece appeared on Pravda.ru it has been picked up by wingnuts in the Anglo-American sphere, where it’s enthusiastically circulated as “proof” that even Russkies think true capitalism —that mythological fount of so much human happiness in Ayn Rand land—is kaput in the US. 102. Worf in Australia, they are experiencing a continent wide unrepresented heat wave.

Australia Climate Change? New Colors Added To Forecast Maps To Track Potential Record Heat

The Australian Bureau of Meteorology amended its interactive weather chart Tuesday, adding the colors deep purple and pink to indicate a temperature range of up to 54 degrees Celsius, or 129.2 degrees Fahrenheit. The previous range had capped at 50 Celsius, or 122 degrees Fahrenheit.

According to the current model, the forecast for next Monday will bring a "Tasmania-sized" area of heat in excess of 50 degrees to South Australia.

"The air mass over the inland is still heating up. It hasn't peaked," David Jones, head of the bureau's climate monitoring and prediction unit, told the Sydney Morning Herald.

Australia's heat could hit 'purple' zone

The current heat wave is unusual due to its extent, with more than 70 percent of the continent currently experiencing heat wave conditions," John Nairn, South Australia's acting regional director for the Bureau of Meteorology, told the Australian Science Media Center.

"This event is ongoing with significant records likely to be set," a bureau statement said, The Sydney Morning Herald reports.

The Australian Broadcasting Corp. reported Tuesday that more than 140 fires continued to burn in sweltering conditions across New South Wales.

"It's shaping up to be a very difficult day. You don't get conditions worse than this," said NSW Rural Fire Service Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons, who said at a news conference that the crisis had reached a "catastrophic level."

Australia has faced a stream of erratic weather. In 2011, the state of Queensland was hit by flooding and cyclones, and last year a decade-long drought that had affected the country's farms was declared over. Firestorms in 2009 claimed hundreds of lives.

Just for the first seven days of 2013, six were among the top 20 hottest days in the past century and the last four months of 2012 were the hottest on record for Australia.

If this is their summer time, doesn't bode well for our next summer time.

Remember 2012 was the hottest year on record, until 2013 comes along that is.

Australia’s weather is so hot, new colors added to weather map

By Claudine Zap | The Lookout – Tue, Jan 8, 2013

The forecast in Australia: Hot, hot, hot—and getting hotter.

As a record-breaking heatwave hovers over many regions and territories (which are in their summer months now), the continent’s Bureau of Meteorology has added two new colors to the weather map to reflect the rising mercury.

The map currently shows the weather in orange tones at the top, which indicate temperatures 40 to 48 degrees Celsius. But forecasts are predicting off-the-charts weather. As a result, pink and purple will now cover temperatures over 50 degrees Celsius—should it climb that high.

For those rusty on the temperature conversion, that is a sweat-inducing 122 degrees Fahrenheit. (The record-setting temperature of 50.7 set in 1960 has, thankfully, still not been broken.)

"The forecast coming from the bureau's model is showing temperatures in excess of 50 degrees," said David Jones, head of the bureau's climate monitoring and prediction unit.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, a "dome of heat" over Australia is contributing to the record-breaking weather, which has gone on for six straight days with average maximum temps above 39 degrees Celcius (102 Fahrenheit). The trend seems likely to continue.
Adding to the misery, the searing heat is also fueling wildfires that continue to rage in southeastern Australia.

"You don't get conditions worse than this," Shane Fitzsimmons, New South Wales Rural Fire Service commissioner, told the Associated Press.

Australia isn’t the only place battling record high temperatures. Last year, the United States had its warmest year on record.

They're their own worst enemy for why THEY should not be allowed weapons. They're clearly mentally unbalanced.

No ones threatening to take anyones regular guns, just implement better sane restrictions and controls that even gun owners agree with.

    ReplyDelete
  124. There's also a lot of talk about "secret meetings" of these brothers of the revolution, etc, some sort of uprising being planned.

  125. I've never understood people who obsess over this stuff, rather than building and creating. For me life's about work. I get up in the morning, and think about work. Then I start working. I focus on work, development, earning money, paying bills, helping people I work with, then I work some more. Then I eat lunch, and think about work I have to do after lunch. Then after lunch, I work some more. Then when I'm done with work, I do other work, pay some bills, think about some more work and the work I have to do after work. Finally I get tired, and go to bed, where I think about the work I have to do the next day, and fall asleep, until I get up the next day and get back to work.

So I'm confused, and perhaps someone can help me understand, because honestly it eludes me. Who are these people, who can spend their days obsessing over killing, and death?

    How do they do it?

    Why do they do it?

And why would they want to do it?

    ReplyDelete
  126. I can understand soldiers on active duty doing it. I can understand cops doing it.

But what I can't understand, is the guy who spends his time obsessing over guns, ..playing with them, cleaning them, STOCKPILING them....shooting them, thinking about shooting them, showing them to others, going to gun shows to get more, always working to focus on how good at "killing" he can get.

Then goes to work at his job at Burger King, or the local hardware store.

It just makes no sense, and I don't understand it.

  132. Bachmann Campaign Staffers Claim They Aren't Getting Paid Because of Leaks

    By J.K. Trotter | The Atlantic Wire – Fri, Jan 11, 2013

On Thursday a high-level staffer for Congresswoman Michele Bachmann's failed presidential campaign issued a press release alleging that Bachmann's finance chairman refuses to pay a number of former staffers because they declined to sign a non-disclosure agreement that "prohibits any discussion of any criminal, moral, and/or unethical behavior witnessed during Mrs. Bachmann's campaign in Iowa."

That's a not-quite-veiled allusion, Salon suggests, to allegations that the Bachmann campaign illegally accessed a list of Iowa-area homeschooling families and emailed them solicitations.

    ReplyDelete
  133. We all knew Bachmann was not a good person, and also was batshit crazy.

Now we see she's apparently a criminal to boot.

    ReplyDelete
  134. So not only did she commit a crime in Iowa illegally accessing records of home schoolers (funny, she at least knows the only people stupid enough to actually vote for her), but she also committed a CONSPIRACY with others in trying to cover it up.

Additionally, she used strong arm tactics and EXTORTION, to try to coerce others into withholding information of a crime.

This falls under the RICO act, and it looks like Bachmann's days of running her mouth outside of prison, are about over.

    ReplyDelete
  135. If one of the staffers can produce a copy of this document they were given to sign, it would be more than enough to put Bachmann and anyone else involved in attempting to cover up a crime in prison.

Had she left well enough alone, then merely the act of accessing school records illegally wouldn't have been likely too big of a deal. She probably would have gotten effectively a slap on the wrist, a fine and no jail time whatsoever.

But when she CONSPIRED with other senior members of her staff to try to coerce, intimidate and extort others into withholding information of a crime, she crossed the line from a simple crime of illegally accessing school records and now falls under the guise of the RICO statutes which make conspiring to conceal a crime a felony punishable by up to 20 years in federal prison.

So I can see why guys like Voltron and Johnny have given up.

Combine the fact Voltron got his ass kicked in the election, along with the fact that his party is coming apart at the seams live on national television, and now this, from the love of his life the batshit "cure a queer" lady Bachmann who looks to be headed for a few years in a Federal Orange jumpsuit,.....well...who could blame them for crawling into a hole and giving up?

The days for the chest beating, racist, hate filled war mongering people screwing self proclaimed Christian Right, are coming to an end.

Those are good things, because both of those wars, were Bush's crimes against Humanity.

I know in your little fuel ticket counting world, with your mediocre life, mediocre job and mediocre wages, you have no sense of business, but those of us who do know it TAKES MONEY TO MAKE MONEY.

Sitting on your money, or SQUANDERING it on war, is not the way to drive industry and our GDP. Most of the equipment we sent to Iraq's being dumped in the sea. Oh sure there's a temporary surge in manufacturing for the military going to specific military contractors, and that does create some jobs, believe me I know a little about that, pal.

But, it's temporary and short lived. Just like temporary programs for infrastructure, only the difference is we're CREATING a BETTER AMERICA, not blowing the shit out of some 3rd world country and squandering American lives doing it.

Obama's not perfect. You betcha, big mouth. Not perfect by any stretch.

    I said he was wasting hundreds of billions in off book accounting to fund his two wars which have done nothing to stabilize the US strategic position, and failing to correct the dire economic conditions, that lead directly to;

    stay with me now;

The economic meltdown that both Mike and I were warning about as early as 2007.

President Obama did not inherit a balanced budget and path to paying off the debt created by Reagan and Bush Sr.

President Obama did not inherit a very robust intelligence establishment that was focused on Bin Laden before ripping it apart and ignoring warnings of an eminent attack on the United States in Aug 2001.

No he inherited two optional wars of thew neo-cons and trillions of debt with more written in the pipeline.

The ACA is set to SAVE taxpayers money unless the brain dead-enders in DC rip it apart.

Finally after four wasted years part of the stupid bush era give the middle class $300 while piling trillions of debt on their children's future act has been repealed. You know the one where billionaires got to pay less as a percentage of their income then the people who did the actual physical work creating all that wealth in the first case.

Not to mention the stupidity of cutting a special rate for those who do nothing but gamble on wall street for a living destroying good paying middle class jobs like R-money did for years.

I'm all for a tax on each and every transaction, with all income from said transactions being taxed as INCOME, not some special for the rich rate that allows them to avoid their true tax bill passing it to the people who actually do the physical labor in the country.

Official White House Response To Death Star Petition

Yes some dummy thought wasting $850,000,000,000,000,000 to build a death star was a good idea ......

Most likely a wingnut teatard or possibly a military contractor wanting to pad their bottom line.

Neither have ever seen a war of weapon they didn't like especially if the wingnut teatards don't have to put their yellow bellies on the line for it.

    But since the petition got enough signatures the white House was kind enough to respond;

OFFICIAL WHITE HOUSE RESPONSE TO Secure resources and funding, and begin construction of a Death Star by 2016.

The Administration shares your desire for job creation and a strong national defense, but a Death Star isn't on the horizon. Here are a few reasons:

The construction of the Death Star has been estimated to cost more than $850,000,000,000,000,000. We're working hard to reduce the deficit, not expand it.

Oops there goes that they want to spend like there is no tomorrow, unlike Reagan's waste of over a trillion on star wars which still doesn't work

Or the way wingnut teatards cannot get enough of throwing money into dumb weapons and even dumber wars for others to fight.

However that wasn't the only reason stated.

The Administration does not support blowing up planets.

The neo-cons wet dreams aren't gonna be realized, they must be soooo bummed.

Now the wingnut teatards can start their lies about being soft on defense, after all the Martians of maybe the things that hide behind Jupiter are really, really planning on those long delayed invasions after they KNOW we cannot stop them now.

However this is the best reason, which will fly over the heads of war mongering neo-cons and wingnut teatards every where.

Why would we spend countless taxpayer dollars on a Death Star with a fundamental flaw that can be exploited by a one-man starship?

Too bad Reagan's band of merry militaristic money wasters never asked that question about their dumb ideas for wasting dollars on every defense program they ever saw.

Or Dick Cheney when he was pushing for wasting more and more money on dumb ideas about nation building in the middle east, and secret torture chambers for his special collection of home movies(till the CIA burned them that is).

Sucks when an intelligent question gets in the way of brain dead-ender GOpers, wingnut teatards and war mongering neo-cons doesn't it?

    ReplyDelete
  149. PS here is the rest of the White House's statement,

However, look carefully (here's how) and you'll notice something already floating in the sky -- that's no Moon, it's a Space Station! Yes, we already have a giant, football field-sized International Space Station in orbit around the Earth that's helping us learn how humans can live and thrive in space for long durations. The Space Station has six astronauts -- American, Russian, and Canadian -- living in it right now, conducting research, learning how to live and work in space over long periods of time, routinely welcoming visiting spacecraft and repairing onboard garbage mashers, etc. We've also got two robot science labs -- one wielding a laser -- roving around Mars, looking at whether life ever existed on the Red Planet.

Keep in mind, space is no longer just government-only. Private American companies, through NASA's Commercial Crew and Cargo Program Office (C3PO), are ferrying cargo -- and soon, crew -- to space for NASA, and are pursuing human missions to the Moon this decade.

Even though the United States doesn't have anything that can do the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs, we've got two spacecraft leaving the Solar System and we're building a probe that will fly to the exterior layers of the Sun. We are discovering hundreds of new planets in other star systems and building a much more powerful successor to the Hubble Space Telescope that will see back to the early days of the universe.

We don't have a Death Star, but we do have floating robot assistants on the Space Station, a President who knows his way around a light saber and advanced (marshmallow) cannon, and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, which is supporting research on building Luke's arm, floating droids, and quadruped walkers.

We are living in the future! Enjoy it. Or better yet, help build it by pursuing a career in a science, technology, engineering or math-related field. The President has held the first-ever White House science fairs and Astronomy Night on the South Lawn because he knows these domains are critical to our country's future, and to ensuring the United States continues leading the world in doing big things.

If you do pursue a career in a science, technology, engineering or math-related field, the Force will be with us! Remember, the Death Star's power to destroy a planet, or even a whole star system, is insignificant next to the power of the Force.

Rather intelligent snark if you ask me. And what intelligent uses of money in space can accomplish, instead of the wing nut teatards fascination of blowing up things and having others out killing people they don't like.

  150. Remember this article the next time some brain dead-ender wingnut teatard wants to destroy the EPA;'

Beijing choked by pollution at dangerous levels

Dense smog shrouded Beijing on Saturday, with pollution at hazardous levels for a second day and residents advised to stay indoors, state media said.

The municipal environment warning centre issued an alert advising the elderly, children, and those suffering respiratory or cardiovascular illness to avoid going out or doing strenuous exercise, Xinhua reported.

Those who did venture out wore facemasks for protection, with visibility low, the skyline shrouded, and the sun hidden in the smog.

Air quality in Beijing showed airborne particles with a diameter small enough to deeply penetrate the lungs at a reading of 456 micrograms per cubic metre, the warning centre said.

The quality is considered good when the figure stands at less than 100.

But a reading shown on the United States embassy website in Beijing was above 800. Beijing only measures up to a maximum value of 500, with the US embassy tweeting that their own readings were “beyond index”.

Last year Beijing said it was illegal for foreign embassies to issue their own air quality readings, but the US said its diplomatic missions in China would not stop tweeting levels, which were useful to its citizens living abroad.

The heavy pollution is expected to last another three days, with weather conditions preventing pollutants from dispersing, the warning centre said, according to Xinhua.

Fog also covered vast swathes of east and central China also closed numerous highways and delayed flights in several provinces, it added.

China’s air quality is among the worst in the world, international organizations say, citing massive coal consumption and car-choked city streets in the world’s biggest auto market.

This is the America the anti EPA clowns would have you and your children living in.

More pollution for more profits, even if the environment ends up being almost unlivable. and we all know how they want to maximize profits ........... over people.

    ReplyDelete
  151. BTW just so's our resident anymouse trolls know,

they just have to wait for a week or so,

for it to float across the pacific,

and it is diluted a little,

so they have to breathe deeper,

for the benefits of the polluted air,

    they are fighting for,

    when they attack the EPA.

    ReplyDelete
  152. THIS IS THE HORRORS China is trying to hide,

and the teatards who fight against the EPA unwittingly (yes I am being generous here) want to bring back to the USA.

And before any of your wingnut teatard clowns want to spout off showing your lack of intelligence,

Remember we actually had rivers catch on fire,

The Passic in New Jersey in 1918 due to the extreme pollution.

The Rouge River in Dearborn, Michigan caught fire in 1969, and many times before.

So did the famous Cuyahoga River in Cleavland.

Fires on the Chicago River were so frequent they were community events. Spectators gathered on bridges like it was a Fourth of July celebration.

This is not to mention the industrial pollution that ,made water not safe to drink or the fish safe to eat in many of the rivers and lakes in the USA and Canada.

As for SMOG, LA gave it the name but many many Cities used to hold daily smog alerts in the summer in the 1960's and 70's.

    Major incidents in the US

1948, October 30–31, Donora, PA: 20 died, 600 hospitalized, thousands more stricken. Lawsuits were not settled until 1951.

1953, November, New York: Smog kills between 170 and 260 people.

1954, October, Los Angeles: heavy smog shuts down schools and industry for most of the month.

1963, New York: blamed for 200 deaths

1966, New York: blamed for 169 deaths

Are the worst examples of what life in the big city in the USA used to be like.

    This chart shows how even in the 21st century we haven't fully cleaned up the air yet;

Counties in the United States where one or more National Ambient Air Quality Standards are not met, as of June 2007.

I really wouldn't want to see China's chart right about now.

But for some reason wingnut teatards want to turn back the clock in the USA, so river fires, no fishing signs due to pollution and SMOG become as prevalent in the USA as it is in China right about now.

PS: Next time your buying the cheap plastic crap in "wally world", remember where it came from and what the people who live there go thru, so you can have your cheapo plastic "wally world" throw away crap.
