HIGH HOPES * BLESSINGS IN A BACKPACK * DERBY PRELUDE PARTY

Kate Flannery, Lydia Cornell, Oscar Nunez
Kate and Oscar of course, star in THE OFFICE, one of my the favorite shows.
You have to see Kate Flannery in the most hilarious comedy show she created The Lampshades at Improv Olympic

Last night I went to the Kentucky Derby Prelude Party benefitting "Blessings in a Backpack" to feed children who don't have enough food on weekends, who are in the school lunch program. It was red carpet at the London Hotel in WeHo and had the best time! Ran into two of my favorite stars - Kate Flannery and Oscar Nunez from one of my favorite shows starring Steve Carrell The Office. Kate Flannery is hilarious in The Lampshades at Improv Olympic in Hollywood - where I "filmed the "Kelsey Grammer - Bill Zucker Comedy Hour" with Scott Baio from Happy Days last year.

Check out Kate Flannery's http://thelampshades.com with Scott Robinson

Also got to see the sweet GORGEOUS event host Linda Thompson, actor Gary Cole and my the stunning, lovable, adorable, Patrika A. Darbo .... along with the inimitable wunderkind David Mirisch and the BEAUTIFUL Iva Franks-Singer and the stunning Millena Gay. It was a pleasure meeting The Rotunda Group's Tim Corrigan and the owners of VOX, the best voice over agents in town.

  1. The Office is one of the funniest shows on television.

  2. Well it appears that Valerie Jarrett went to MLK's home church and made a few political remarks. They held a voter registration drive afterwards.

I know how much you guys hate mixing church and state, so I thought we should start a petition to have the IRS revoke their tax exempt status.

    You guys in?

  9. They held a voter registration drive afterwards.

In OTHER words they did ONE thing, then AFTER they did a second, not the two together.

I see no violation but if voltron can find a verifiable non right wing link to show a legal law being broken we MIGHT look into it, other wise just ignore the gutless troll.

  14. BTW not to stray too far off the right wing meme voltron-moomoo is trying VERY hard to establi8sh here,

    But here is how badly a conservative government is responding to the great recession;

January 16 2012: Quo Vadis, Britannia?

    the telling quote;

Almost one million Britons have taken out an emergency 'payday' loan to help pay their rent or mortgage in the last year, according to Shelter, the housing charity.

The high degree of borrowing highlights the 'spiral of debt' that people are falling into to keep a roof over their head, Shelter said. The charity also found that seven million Britons are relying on some form of credit to help pay their housing costs.

Campbell Robb, Shelter’s chief executive, said: 'These shocking findings show the extent to which millions of households across the country are desperately struggling to keep their home.'

    Payday loans to pay rent?

    That is subprime on steroids.

    But that is the tip of Britain's financial iceberg;

Around six million households would be unable to survive for more than five days if they stopped being paid, such are the low levels of savings among Britons, new research shows.

A new report from First Direct, the bank, warns that one in three UK households have less than £250 in accessible savings. A fifth of all households have no savings at all.

The bank said that £250 is the equivalent of three days’ average monthly household take-home pay. With average monthly outgoing currently at £1,536, these savings would last just five days.

The conservative government and their version of wall street has 25% of the population underwater, in their homes and personal finances, no way this can end well, but the corporate owned MSM doesn't want this out makes conservative politics look as bad as it is in reality.

  15. Isn't it nice that Voltron picked a tasteless, racist enhanced image of Michelle Obama as his icon?

    Voltron.

Instead of a class act, he's just an ass act.

  16. All these years he's been pretending to be a reasonable moderate, ...and now in the last month he finally "comes out of the closet".

We're so glad you came out.

Now go back in, and pull the door behind you, ....you inbred, backwoods trailer trash racist, evangelical know nothing loon.

...hey Volty.....you ok over there....are you able to speak?

    ReplyDelete
  19. ..if you're unable to write, ... just tap the space bar once for yes....

    ReplyDelete
  20. Ah Worf,

You have a mind like a steel trap.
Too bad it rusted open and all your marbles fell out.

You really should know better. Never, ever, in six years have I claimed to be a "reasonable moderate". I've ALWAYS said I was a conservative. (feel free to forget this again in your next post)

You know it's kinda funny, whenever libs don't have an answer for something they just play the race card.

You got me though, I didn't think you'd recognize her in the "enhanced" picture on the right...

    *Yawn* -gee, you're boring me.

    ReplyDelete
  21. ...ahhh...I think I feel a nibble...

    ReplyDelete
  22. ....nope...just a brown trout....

    ReplyDelete
  23. And look, this one talks.....he's whining about the race card ....while simultaneously using a racist image of the First Lady of the United States.

  24. This is one floater that no matter how many times you flush...it just keeps floating back up to the surface.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Most floaters go after the President, ..but it takes a dark.....corn filled one to go after his wife.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Voltron.

    The talking turd.

    ReplyDelete
  27. The only reason this turds talking so little, is because even he's embarrassed at the republican field.

    Newt Gingrich, or Mitt Romney.

    ReplyDelete
  28. They'd just flip a coin to decide but either way it'd come up "tails".

    ReplyDelete
  29. When Bush was President, people in general for the most part left Laura Bush alone.

But the right wingers seem collectively intent on insulting Mrs Obama, in a seedy and racist manner.

This speaks volumes as to the character of these right wing loons.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Worf,

I'll let you in on a little secret.

The "enhanced" picture isn't really Moochelle, it's the salt vampire from Star Trek the original series.

The similarity is kinda scary though huh?

    ReplyDelete
  31. I might add too, that just because liberals are racist doesn't mean everyone is.

    ReplyDelete
  32. " Moochelle"...

    ...uh huh...

    ReplyDelete
  33. ..and the reason you use it is becuz you're a Star Trek geek and that's your favorite character...right?

    ReplyDelete
  34. ...maybe the reason Volty's so quiet these days, is because every time he opens his mouth, ....he just digs himself in deeper, and deeper.

    ReplyDelete
  35. ...after all, the picture is actually of Michelle Obama, next to the Salt Vampire...

    ReplyDelete
  36. ...making that like ...what.....lie number.....342,963 ?

But if he doesn't do that, he doesn't have a Prayer."

LOL..........now we're debating if the blueblood vulture capitalist with the off shore tax shelter that he "SAYS" isnt REALLY a tax shelter and who likes firing people is smart :)

Romney isnt smart he'll pick that fat smug slob Chris Christy and lose just like the senile McCaine did.

  40. Anyone see Haywire yet?...........just saw it and thought it was great!!!........amazing fighting scenes, great action without all the overdone/overused special effects that are all too common nowadays......I was really impressed with Gina Carano, she was in there with some big time stars and and not only it her first movie but she was the star of the movie.......It reminded me of the Bourne movies......I can definately see sequels just like the Bourne movies.

Again for a low budget movie with an unheard of star doing her first movie I was pleasantly surprised with it.

  43. OLED is pretty expensive. I don't know anything about it but what I googled, and the one I found was 23,000 dollars. So I don't think that's what you want.

I usually just buy whatever is on sale. Having grown up looking at old fuzzy black and white TV's that you had to constantly adjust the rabbit-ears on just to get a discernible image, now it all looks good to me.

  49. Its understandable that a right wing troll would insult a democratic President, ..but what sort of low life piece of sh$t, ...would put up a mocked up racist, infantile photoshop image of his wife?

  51. Now I know why you dislike him so much Clif. I'd been fooled by his reasonable act for the first few years.

He had me convinced he was a decent person, who was a right winger but a reasonable one.

Now that he's out of the closet that image has vanished into oblivion.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I always tried to like him. I actually wanted to like him. I'm so sick of these far right wing scumbags who preach a Nazi doctrine with tongue in cheek, that I could puke.

So I always held out hope that he wasn't completely gone, but his recent coming out ceremonies have put an end to that noble idea.

He's all jackboot, all the way.

Just another fascist who if he had the chance, would butcher a million Arabs like Hitler butchering Jews.

    ReplyDelete
  53. And so the fact that the little troll thinks he's funny by using a mocked up racist photoshop image of the First Lady, shouldn't at all surprise me.

But like I said, turns out, he's no class, and all ass.

  57. I honestly never thought I'd live to see a day when republicans were so desperate that they'd resurrect Newt Gingrich as their candidate.

    ReplyDelete
  58. They're so desperate that they'd put the guy up who condemned Clinton for having an affair while he himself was having one.

It doesn't get any more hypocritical than that.

    ReplyDelete

By David Rothschild | The Signal – 5 hrs ago

As he prepares for his third State of the Union address--and, he hopes, not his last--Barack Obama's likelihood of reelection has soared in the last few days to 56.8 percent, the highest it has been since last July. This movement correlates with Newt Gingrich's increased likelihood of gaining the Republican nomination, now at 29.7 percent, up from about 5 percent.

  71. MOGADISHU, Somalia — The same U.S. Navy SEAL unit that killed Osama bin Laden parachuted into Somalia under cover of darkness early Wednesday and crept up to an outdoor camp where an American woman and Danish man were being held hostage. Soon, nine kidnappers were dead and both hostages were freed.

President Barack Obama authorized the mission by SEAL Team 6 two days earlier, and minutes after he gave his State of the Union address to Congress he was on the phone with the American's father to tell him his daughter was safe.

    ReplyDelete
  72. This is the amazing thing. These right wing loons have spent three years yelling about how evil Obama is. They've called him weak on terror, and the worst President ever.

Yet when you ask them to name a single thing that he's done that's "sooo bad", they can't.

And in fact, the mans done more to fight the war on terror than Bush ever did.

    ReplyDelete
  73. He got Osama Bin Laden, the guy responsible for the attacks. He's gotten dozens of high ranking Al Quaida members. His "lead from behind" strategy and air support got Ghadafi, another famous terrorist.

And he's overseen several missions with Navy seals where he's rescued people from kidnappers like this story above, and freed ships that were hijacked.

The man has been a HIGHLY effective military President, yet no matter what he does, all we hear is this tired right wing "neener neener" style baby talk, about how he's this socialist, Muslim loving pansy.

Its amazing these dirtbags get away with this, but they do.

They use the Nazi propaganda method. Just say something no matter how false, and say it over and over while ignoring any facts, and people will believe it.

  78. Low IQ & Conservative Beliefs Linked to Prejudice

There's no gentle way to put it: People who give in to racism and prejudice may simply be dumb, according to a new study that is bound to stir public controversy.

The research finds that children with low intelligence are more likely to hold prejudiced attitudes as adults. These findings point to a vicious cycle, according to lead researcher Gordon Hodson, a psychologist at Brock University in Ontario. Low-intelligence adults tend to gravitate toward socially conservative ideologies, the study found. Those ideologies, in turn, stress hierarchy and resistance to change, attitudes that can contribute to prejudice, Hodson wrote in an email to LiveScience.

    http://news.yahoo.com/low-iq-conservative-beliefs-linked-prejudice-180403506.html

    ReplyDelete
  79. I'm gonna have to call bullshit on that one.

You guys have low IQ's AND are prejudiced, but you're nowhere near conservative...

    ReplyDelete
  80. Gee, who'dve thunk volty would disagree with the study that says he's a moron?

    ReplyDelete
  81. lol, who should we believe.

All the data, or the guy with the low IQ?

    ReplyDelete
  82. "lol, who should we believe.

All the data, or the guy with the low IQ?"

First, I'm not asking anyone to believe you.

Second, Have you actually seen ALL the data? I think you just read an article that reinforces your personal opinion and viewpoint and accept it on that basis.

Third, there is no way to do a definitive study using purely subjective precepts.

    ReplyDelete
  83. 1. I didn't ask anyone to believe me stupid. I asked should we believe you.

Of course, being a low IQ individual, I can't expect you to know that.

    2. What do I look like a researcher to you? Of course I just read the article moron. Just like you.

    3. There's a dozen other articles, studies, etc that we've posted in here over the years showing the same thing. This isn't the first time this sort of research has produced the identical data.

They keep finding the same thing.

    Conservative = stooooopid.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Which leads us right back to Third.

    ReplyDelete
  85. The argument could be made that liberals are MUCH more biased than conservatives AND not as smart as well.

    ReplyDelete
  86. No ones making an argument bozo.

All I did was present the results of the study.

The study that said you're an idiot.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Just look at the policies and programs you support.

By giving assistance freely you take away their dignity and self esteem.
You take away their incentive to do things for themselves, destroying families and creating a permanent underclass.
And while this may not be the intention of the rank and file liberal such as yourself, rest assured your party leadership knows that this intentionally created slave class will continue to vote for them as long as they keep offering them freebies. Thereby keeping themselves in power and in control.

Look at your so called leadership. The politicians, the union thugs and your "intellectual" elite.

Are they poor? Do you really think they're out to help the "little guy"? Or are they padding their own pockets on the backs of the underclass they've created?
(when the union leaderships have their little confabs in some exotic island locale, do you think they'd welcome a rank and file union member there with them?)

How do you tell someone they're "equal" and then advocate for special programs to assist them.
And how can someone be truly equal if they need special programs?

And just how long can you string them along on only hope? Civil rights programs started in the 60's, how long ago was that, 50 years or more? Just why hasn't it gotten any better?

That sounds pretty biased to me. AND much more evil.

And if as they say insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, then why when all these wonderfully intentioned programs fail, (as they must) you simply insist on doubling down on them?
It would've worked, we just needed more money, bigger programs, blah, blah, blah...

And to me THAT sounds pretty damn stupid.

    ReplyDelete
  88. First of all big mouth, giving freely is what Christ commanded all Christians to do.

So right their you show your own stupidity, by not even knowing the words of the man who's name you claim to bear as a "conservative Christian".

    ReplyDelete
  89. Secondly, giving to people who are in need does not take away their dignity.

Some people cannot work for various reasons. Others can work but the works not there.

President Obama has been trying to create jobs, but you republicans have hobbled him at every turn, from creating infrastructure jobs to stimulating the economy so hiring improves.

But thanks again for demonstrating the pigeonholed stupidity of the conservative mindset.

You constantly try to frame your opponents positions into your narrow, ignorant perception of them, so you can feel good about your untenable (means indefensible....I know big words are difficult for you) positions.

Anyone with half a brain knows it TAKES MONEY TO MAKE MONEY. That's a tried and proven method.

And you republican idiots have done nothing but try to limit the Presidents access to money in order to sabotage any efforts he might take to grow the economy.

And he's STILL managed to stabilize it and start bringing back the markets and jobs.

In SPITE of the idiot republicans, and their determination to make him and all of us, fail.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Furthermore, just because someones "equal", doesn't mean as a group they're not discriminated against.

Again the stupid conservative, frames his argument in his own limited, narrow perspective to try to give credence to the incredible.

    ReplyDelete
  91. And as for your calling "bullshit" on the study? The subject of the study calling it bullshit? A guy who by his own admission does a menial, low skilled administrative function for a living dismissing a massive long term study by experts and researchers over a period of decades?

Again, you think because you can open your mouth, that what comes out of it somehow must have credence.

But its no more than the rambling rantings of a far right wing conservative stooge, ...desperately trying to come to grips with the reality of his own dismal intellect, and untenable and downright deplorable ideologies.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Here neocon. Deal with this.

    Brains and bias
Earlier studies have found links between low levels of education and higher levels of prejudice, Hodson said, so studying intelligence seemed a logical next step. The researchers turned to two studies of citizens in the United Kingdom, one that has followed babies since their births in March 1958, and another that did the same for babies born in April 1970. The children in the studies had their intelligence assessed at age 10 or 11; as adults ages 30 or 33, their levels of social conservatism and racism were measured. [Life's Extremes: Democrat vs. Republican]

lets see......1958......gee.....that's a big number. So what you do Volty, is subtract that number, from the current year (2012 in case you can't count that high) ....and you get 54 years.

5 DECADES (a decade is 10 years in case you didn't know).

    54 years.

But because YOU call "bullshit", I guess over 5 decades and volumes of data is just dismissed.

Like pixie dust.....blown into the wind.

    Because you say so.

    ReplyDelete
  93. And there's your neocon, in all its glory.

    Data means nothing to them.

Facts, science, ....math...none of it means nothing to them.

Because as the study clearly points out, ....their own simplistic ideologies are about as far as their little brains can stretch.

Therefore any facts, figures, data, evidence, reasoning or logic is simply dismissed if it doesn't fit in with their own simplistic ideologies.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Which is why most of the pathetic twits think the world is 6000 years old.

And why the twits don't "believe in" the demonstrable science of global warming.

Because they think that anything that doesn't fit in with their own narrow and simplistic ideologies, must be wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  95. And one more thing, pinhead.

The study never said "ALL" conservatives were dumb, or that all liberals were smart.

It shows a "link" to lower intelligence and conservatives.

So if you want to be smart, the study doesn't say you can't be.

You could always try. You can always change. Just wake up, try following the man you claim to follow, listen to HIS words, and not the words of slimy, corrupt scumbags like Jerry Falwell, or Ted Haggard, ...and the thousands out there like them pushing these militant conservative Christian churches, and who knows?

Maybe with a little work, you could actually be smart.

    Its worth a try.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Think of it like evolution....

...oh wait...most of you guys don't believe in evolution.....

    :|

    ..never mind.

    ReplyDelete
  97. In another study, this one in the United States, Hodson and Busseri compared 254 people with the same amount of education but different levels of ability in abstract reasoning.

They found that what applies to racism may also apply to homophobia.

People who were poorer at abstract reasoning were more likely to exhibit prejudice against gays.

As in the U.K. citizens, a lack of contact with gays and more acceptance of right-wing authoritarianism explained the link.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Nonetheless there is reason to believe that strict right-wing ideology might appeal to those who have trouble grasping the complexity of the world.

"Socially conservative ideologies tend to offer structure and order," Hodson said, explaining why these beliefs might draw those with low intelligence.

    ReplyDelete
  99. ... many anti-prejudice programs encourage participants to see things from another group's point of view.

That mental exercise may be too taxing for people of low IQ.

    ReplyDelete
  100. As suspected, low intelligence in childhood corresponded with racism in adulthood.

But the factor that explained the relationship between these two variables was political:

When researchers included social conservatism in the analysis, those ideologies accounted for much of the link between brains and bias.

  107. At least you're smug in your ignorance eh Worfy?

It doesn't take a genius to figure out that a study that purports to show a correlation between values and "prejudice" would depend on a subjective view of how prejudice is defined.

If you define prejudice as the trail of bodies and misery that "well intentioned" liberals have left in their wake in poor and minority communities, that study would take a very different direction wouldn't it?

You might also have a little more credibility if you didn't spend half of your lecture advocating for Christ and the other half denigrating the historical biblical viewpoint.

As far as "global warming" goes, I suppose if their was any type of collusion and fraud going on like many believe, there would be some leaked trail, like communications or emails or something wouldn't there be?

    ...oh wait. That happened...Twice!

Some inbred mook on the internet who does a menial, low skilled administrative chore for a living....

    ReplyDelete
  116. And I guess I have another choice.

Should I accept an OP ED piece written by a right wing editor in the "Opinion" section of a Financial daily (Wall Street Journal) signed by 16 anti global warming freaks who have nothing to do with global warming research or the bodies of climatology scientists studying throughout the world telling us to not "worry" about global warming... or the 2600+ actual Climatology scientists and researchers who are actually studying the issue, including NASA themselves?

    hmmmmmmmmmm

  119. ...just because it ended up killing 22 people and causing serious health problems in a 130 other kids on campus.....so what?

    ReplyDelete
  120. ...I'm sure he's right this time.

    ReplyDelete

For example, when scientists along with Ralph Nader came out and told us that seat belts would save lives, ...we said, ok. And buckled up. And sure enough, it ended up saving millions of lives.

But today scientists and researchers tell us something, ....and then the right wing politicians (yes, Claude Allegre also happens to be a French "POLITICIAN").....along with their internet trolls have to come along to tell us "nuh uhhhhhhh"........

    the union thugs

No volty they are WORKERS. the ones who's jobs have not been outsourced by the wall street scam of replacing higher paying jobs with minimum wage jobs and claiming that it is good for everyone.

We are 3 decades (that is 30 years to you volty)into that experient, and the middle class is shrinking JUST LIKE the wall street vulture capitalists wanted so wages could fall while their profits could rise.

BTW remember what Jesus said about the rich????????

Not the modern lies the right wing tells everyone he said but the ACTUAL quotes?

    Mark 10:17-25;

17 And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life? 18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.

19 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother. 20 And he answered and said unto him, Master, all these have I observed from my youth. 21 Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.

22 And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions.

23 And Jesus looked round about, and saith unto his disciples, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God! 24 And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God! 25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

Too bad the modern get rich Christianity doesn't follow what Christ said here eh volty?

Seems top destroy your juvenile rant doesn't it?

How do you tell someone they're "equal" and then advocate for special programs to assist them.

I believe I am your "equal" in both Gods eyes and US Constitution, however due to my injuries from combat I need special programs you do NOT need volty.

Sorta under cuts that part of your rant eh?

Other people have different needs would fall into similar catagories, but are equal by law both constitutional and biblical eh volty?

    ReplyDelete
  146. Earth-orbiting satellites and other technological advances have enabled scientists to see the big picture, collecting many different types of information about our planet and its climate on a global scale. Studying these climate data collected over many years reveal the signals of a changing climate.

    ReplyDelete

  147. Certain facts about Earth's climate are not in dispute:

The heat-trapping nature of carbon dioxide and other gases was demonstrated in the mid-19th century.2 Their ability to affect the transfer of infrared energy through the atmosphere is the scientific basis of many JPL-designed instruments, such as AIRS. Increased levels of greenhouse gases must cause the Earth to warm in response.

Ice cores drawn from Greenland, Antarctica, and tropical mountain glaciers show that the Earth’s climate responds to changes in solar output, in the Earth’s orbit, and in greenhouse gas levels. They also show that in the past, large changes in climate have happened very quickly, geologically-speaking: in tens of years, not in millions or even thousands.

    ReplyDelete
  148. The evidence for rapid climate change is compelling:

All three major global surface temperature reconstructions show that Earth has warmed since 1880.

Most of this warming has occurred since the 1970s, with the 20 warmest years having occurred since 1981 and with all 10 of the warmest years occurring in the past 12 years.

Even though the 2000s witnessed a solar output decline resulting in an unusually deep solar minimum in 2007-2009, surface temperatures continue to increase.

    www.NASA.gov

    ReplyDelete
  149. So not only does your article not address the science of global warming, but instead a potential decline in solar emission, but NASA themselves puts it straight.

Of course, when you're low intelligence right wing web troll, ....wearing several layers of Tin Foil on your noggin to protect your tiny brain from the "liberal government x-rays"....you have to rely on National Enquirer grade articles you can scour up on the web, ..rather than simply going directly to NASA themselves, ....to find out what NASA has to say about it.

  153. Yo Volty, a small problem with your cut and paste, solar cycle claims from a British tabloid owned by a member of the Conservative Party (who BTW pays no taxes in Britain even though he is worth £1,020 million) and edited by a self styled;

    unique blend of libertarian-authoritarian Conservatism

    Because of a few thingies they left out of their unscientific hit piece;

    1. Arctic methane outgassing on the E Siberian Shelf part 1 - the background

    Hint read part 2 also.

    2. Arctic permafrost leaking methane at record levels, figures show

    3. On carbon transport and fate in the East Siberian Arctic land–shelf–atmosphere system pdf

    BTW Volty here a few thingies they forgot to add;

1980: The Arctic sea ice begins retreating due to fossil fuel global warming. The subsea East Siberian Arctic Shelf (ESAS) is one the earliest places to become ice free. The shelf holds more than twice as much carbon as our atmosphere, most as methane. Free and frozen gas (hydrates) is capped under a layer of impermeable permafrost.

2003: Natialia Shakhova and Igor Semilitov find rising ocean and atmospheric methane levels over the shelf. / The US DoD contracts a report on abrupt climate change and finds it could lead to anarchy.

2004: Former US DoE geologist John Atcheson warns “If we trigger this runaway release of methane, there’s no turning back. No do-overs. Once it starts it’s likely to play out all the way.

2006: NASA finds first methane hydrate release has been detected, but is instructed by US government not to tell anyone.

Nobel Prize winner Paul Crutzen (ozone chemistry) suggests we may have to engineer the climate by mimicking volcanoes.

2007: The Arctic sea ice area falls off the chart 50 years ahead of IPCC schedule, incident with accelerating methane hydrate release from ESAS.

IPCC chair Rajendra Pachauri says: “Since the panel began its work five years ago, scientists have recorded much stronger trends in climate change. That means you better start with intervention much earlier. If there’s no action before 2012, that’s too late. What we do in the next two to three years will determine our future.

This is the defining moment.” NASA’s Jay Zwally says: “The Arctic is often cited as the canary in the coalmine for climate warming. Now, as a sign of global warming, the canary has died. It is getting even worse than the climate models predicted.”

The oil companies cheer the meltdown of the Arctic sea ice and get ready for drilling.

2008: Tyndale Centre director, Kevin Anderson warns the battle against dangerous climate change has been lost, and the world needs to prepare for things to get very, very bad.

Former IPCC chair Bob Watson warns we must prepare for a 4 degree Celcius rise, and we must alert everybody that at the moment we’re at the top end of the worst case scenario.

James Hansen, at the Bjerknes Lecture warns we underestimate the cooling effect of global dimming and suggests the possibility of a runaway greenhouse if we burn all the available fossil fuels and release the methane hydrates.

  154. (cont)

Expedition leader Igor Semilitov reports that the sub-sea permafrost is no longer an impermeable cap to methane release. He mentions is high time to warn people. The staid National Science Foundation backs Semiletov in a press release, “Permafrost under the East Siberian Arctic Shelf, long thought to be an impermeable barrier sealing in methane, is perforated and is starting to release large amounts of methane into the atmosphere. Release of even a fraction of the methane stored in the shelf could trigger abrupt climate warming.”

2009: Stuart Brand quotes David Archer, “the worst-case scenario is that global warming triggers a decade-long release of hundreds of gigatonnes of methane, the equivalent of ten times the current amount of greenhouse gas in the atmosphere. We’d be talking about mass extinction.” He quotes James Lovelock, “The year 2040 is when the IPCC is estimating that Europe, America, and China become uninhabitable for the growth of food. They’re grossly underestimating the rate of temperature rise so that 2040 may be 2025. People don’t realize how little time we’ve got. The planet really is on the move….to its stable hot state, which is about 5 degrees globally higher than now.”

At the Club or Rome in Amsterdam, James Hansen says: “Methane is an especially powerful greenhouse gas. There are large amounts of methane presently locked up, frozen, in high latitude tundra and, especially, in ocean sediments on continental shelves. We know from Earth history that this frozen methane can be released by sufficient warming – thus this methane has the potential to greatly amplify manmade global warming, if that warming reaches a level, a tipping point, such that large volumes of frozen methane begin to melt.”

US chief scientist and Macarthur “genius”, John Holdren suggests geoengineering has to be looked at, and could not be ruled out, “we don’t have that luxury”.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon warns of runaway global warming without a strong binding treaty.

James Lovelock warns we are too late and too incapable as a species of stopping global heating, and to prepare for calamity by developing geoengineering and synthetic food. He says if we clear our aerosol pollution by reducing CO2 emissions the required 60%, temperatures will abruptly spike. (Temperature rise after the skies were cleared on 9/11 suggest contrails have a strong cooling effect during daytime.)

2010: The Royal Society finds earth geophysical responses are linked to periods of exceptional climate change.

The National Science Foundation warns methane is now releasing at an alarming rate.

Potsdam Institute director Hans Schellnhuber warns runaway global warming will cause a temperature rise of 15 degrees Celcius by 2200, (in other words, surface extinction.)

[November] Natalia Shakhova and Igor Semiletov present their work at the ‘Opening the Arctic’ symposium to the US DoD Environmental Research Program, saying methane release had been estimated at 8 million tonnes, but observed bottom flux of non-gradual emissions from hotspots indicates an underestimation of three magnitudes. They say the volume being released is potentially enough to trigger abrupt climate change.

May 2011: Rajendra Pachauri warns natural disasters such as floods, earthquakes, and tsunamis will occur more often.

New study finds the massive build-up of unfiltered Chinese coal plants this past decade has masked global warming through sulphur dioxide gas pollution. (The cooling aerosol lasts weeks to months, while fossil fuel global warming will outlast even nuclear waste.)

Republicans try to remove clear air rules (so they can say see…no global warming.)

A report by 200 polar researchers presented at Copenhagen suggests that Arctic feedback mechanisms are now causing it to reinforce its own warming.

  155. (cont)

[August] Martin Bergmann, director of Natural Resources Canada’s Polar Continental Shelf Program of over 1100 Arctic researchers, dies in a Resolute Bay charter plane crash. Luckily a military unit happened to be at Resolute Bay airport to do training exercises of how to respond to plane crashes.

[September] Arctic sea ice volume reaches a record low volume, 4300 cubic kilometres. It should be functionally gone by 2015.

Igor Semilitov and expedition of 26 Russian and U.S. scientists leave Vladivostok on short notice to study massive methane discharges from underwater gas hydrates in the Eastern Arctic. [December]: Igor Semilitov says at the American Geophysical Union “earlier we found torch like structures like this but they were only tens of metres in diameter. This is the first time we’ve found continuous, powerful, and impressive seeping structures, more than 1000 metres in diameter. It’s amazing.”…“I was most impressed by the sheer scale and high density of the plumes. Over a relatively small area we found more than 100, but over a wide area there should be thousands of them.” (so this is an increase from the value presented in November 2010 to the US DoD ERP.)

The Bulletin of Atomic Scientists advance the doomsday clock five minutes to midnight, citing climate change, nuclear proliferation, and failure of governments to establish safe and sustainable energy.

Why is Arctic sea ice expected to be melted away by 2015, 50 years ahead of IPCC schedule?

Why is Arctic methane hydrates releasing 100 years of schedule?

Why did the US government instruct NASA not to tell anyone first methane hydrate release had been detected in 2006?

Why are methane levels in the Arctic higher than at any time in the last 400 000 years?

Why is Shakhova concerned about an abrupt release of 50 billion tonnes of methane?

Why does the US DoE contract Alvia Gaskill’s climate and methane engineering services?

Why does Alvia describe the Arctic methane situation as precipitating a mass extinction event and marking the end of a geological era?

Why does Robert Watson warn us to prepare for 4 degrees of warming?

Doesn’t 4 degrees guarantee runaway global warming?

See book Six Degrees by Mark Lynas

Why is the Arctic exhibiting symptoms of runaway warming with only 1 degree of global warming?

Why did Natalia Shakhova tell the DoD in 2010 the East Siberian Arctic Shelf has the most potential for causing abrupt climate change?

  157. Your problem Volty, is you get your science, from politicians and political operatives, rather than scientists.

That's why you don't like NASA.

Every quasi technical guy or girl loves NASA. NASA walked and talked on the Moon, another world. They've sent spacecraft into the Solar System and beyond.

NASA is the one common denominator that all people admire, except for one group, who these days doesn't like them, because they instruct us on a scientific theory that goes against the wishes of the big energy giants that pull the strings of your political leaders.

And because lower IQ individuals gravitate towards conservatism for its simplistic ideologies and doctrines, you'd rather believe what you read in an overseas conservative tabloid about what NASA thinks, rather than simply going to NASA's own website and reading it for yourself.

  159. HEY VOLTY;

    Remember that conservatard Wall Street hit piece you boasted about against climate change;

Well as Paul Harvey used to say,

    here is the REST OF THE STORY;

WSJ Publishes Op-Ed From 16 Climate Deniers, Refused Letter From 255 Top Scientists

In a Wall Street Journal op-ed, sixteen prominent global warming deniers with scientific backgrounds — such as tobacco apologist Richard Lindzen of MIT and ExxonMobil executive Roger Cohen — concede that manmade carbon dioxide emissions have a warming effect on the planet, but argue that the effect is “small” and nothing to “panic” about. All the other scientists in the world who believe the science are part of a conspiracy to intimidate people like themselves, they write, just as Soviet biologists who believed in genes were “sent to the gulag and some were condemned to death.”

As climate scientist Peter Gleick reports at his Forbes.com blog, those other scientists include 255 members of the United States National Academy of Sciences who wrote a letter about the scientific threat of climate change for the Wall Street Journal — but were turned down:

The most amazing and telling evidence of the bias of the Wall Street Journal with respect to manmade climate change is the fact that 255 members of the United States National Academy of Sciences wrote a scientifically accurate essay on the realities of climate change and on the need for improved and serious public debate around the issue, offered it to the Wall Street Journal, and were turned down. The National Academy of Sciences is the nation’s pre-eminent independent scientific organizations. Its members are among the most respected in the world in their fields. Yet the Journal wouldn’t publish this letter. Instead they chose to publish an error-filled and misleading piece on climate because 16 so-called experts aligned with their bias signed it. This may be good politics for them, but it is bad science and it is bad for the nation.

The NAS letter was eventually published by Science magazine.

Even though the first decade of the 2000s was warmer than the 1990s, and 2005 and 2010 were the warmest years on record, the denier op-ed asserts “the most inconvenient fact is the lack of global warming for well over 10 years now.”

As usual Volty was trumpeting bad unscientific right wing propaganda, when the WHOLE STORY is told.

Hmmm 255 real scientists against 16 ideologically driven sell outs?????

    Whom to believe??????

Tobacco apologist Richard Lindzen of MIT who makes $2500/day consulting fees to oil companies, and ExxonMobil executive Roger Cohen whose income depends on the people buying their unscientific drivel,

The Republican establishment, which is backing former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney in his presidential bid, also is trying to erase the tea party, Rush Limbaugh said today on his radio show.

“The establishment Republicans are trying to take the tea party out,” Limbaugh declared. “And this is another reason why, in the Republican primary, there is such fevered opposition to Romney and people who despise . . . the campaign that Romney is running.”

    Micheal savage probably won't either;

Underscoring the urgency of stopping the increasingly audacious advance of Obama’s radical left-wing agenda, top-rated talk-radio host Michael Savage says he no longer thinks former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney is capable of defeating the president this fall.

  169. US Vice President Joe Biden spelled out a blunt reelection message for his boss President Barack Obama on Tuesday — “Osama bin Laden is dead and General Motors is alive.”

    Deal with it volty.

Mitt wanted GM as dead as Bin laden.

  170. Remember how much the right wing trolls HOWLED about supposed voter fraud by ACORN, that didn't happen??????

    Well their silence on these stories is deafening;

Mitt Romney Faces Voter Fraud Complaint as List of Apparent GOP Vote Fraudsters Continues to Swell

Of course lets not forget Anny Tranny's well publicized cases of voter fraud.

You won't hear a peep from Volt or his sock puppets on these, cause that destroys the right wing lies about voter fraud.

  171. Republicans like Volty don't want federal regulations.

They like seeing American jobs being outsourced to India.

  172. Yes I do Clif. Acorn this and "Acorn" that. That's all we heard.

Of course that was all just to downplay their own stealing the 2000 election from more than half the country and inserting Dumbya.

  173. "Romney wins Nevada, second place a contest between Gingrich and Paul"

They just keep torpedoing Romney and he just keeps winning.

Once he gets the nomination his own people are going to have so badly wounded him that the democrats won't even have to attack his credibility. The republicans are doing a much better job of it, right now.

I think Voltron's disappointed with his candidate in waiting.

He's probably out now with the Nevada
2nd "Regulars" cleaning his Polish made assault rifle and getting ready for "Plan B", to be put into effect if Mitt gets the nod.
