Paris Hilton & Barack Obama Reply to McCain Ads

I've known Paris Hilton since she was eleven and I'm so proud of her for this funny ad and for her mom Kathy for speaking out. I got such a kick out of this combo of Obama brilliance, Paris humor and McCain's whacky temper-tantrum flip flopping...WATCH!

Reacting to the television spot released Wednesday that compared Obama's popularity to the vapid celebrity of US tabloid queens Paris Hilton and Britney Spears, Kathy Hilton said the ad represented "a completely frivolous way to choose the next president of the united States."

Kathy Hilton, who with her husband, Beverly Hills real estate magnate and Hilton Hotels heir Richard Hilton, have donated 4,600 dollars to the McCain campaign, said in a statement published on the Huffington Post website that the ad was "a complete waste of the money John McCain's contributors have donated to his campaign."

"It is a complete waste of the country's time and attention at the very moment when millions of people are losing their homes and their jobs."

Obama dismissed the ad. "I don't pay attention to John McCain's ads, although I do notice that he doesn't seem to have anything very positive to say about himself, does he?" Obama told reporters in Missouri Wednesday.

Yesterday I went to Fall Guy Heather Thomas' house for a Progressive Salon breakfast, "L.A. Cafe." Heather has all the right Democratic values and we hope to have her on our radio show soon top talk about her new book TROPHIES. The last time I saw her we were ABC teammates on "Battle of the Network Stars" back in the 80's — and the same year we were on this US Magazine cover (I'm in pink bathing suit above Ed Marinaro from Hill Street Blues.) My friend, the inimitable Brad Friedman of BradBlog delivered a stunning speech about e-voting fraud!! Brad is the publisher of my piece "Death is Sexier than Sex...to Ann Coulter," which resulted in death threats, hate mail, wiretapping and tons of love mail from enlightened souls.

BREAKING BOOK NEWS! This time, the author is not a former Bush official. It's Pulitzer-Prize-winning journalist Ron Suskind. In his new book, "The Way of the World," the D.C.-based author says the CIA forged a letter that falsely connected Iraq to Al Qaeda before the 2003 Iraqi invasion - on an order from the White House. This is a treasonable crime and should lead to impeachment if Congress had a moral compass.

  1. That video was hilarious. Paris was, well, hot, lol.

She gets way to much crap from people. If we had to live under the spotlight she lives under I doubt any of us would fare so well.

    Way to go Paris Hilton.

  2. I remember Heather Thomas. I watched the fall guy all the time. It was one of my favorite shows back then. Lee Majors had a self deprecating humor that made it cool.

    Heather Thomas was great.

  3. Ok, so my wife and I are finally doing something for the cause. Usually we just post stuff on blogs, state our opinions at inappropriate times, and vote on the day we are expected to. However this weekend we are going to be joining an Obama staff member in a registration drive and next weekend we will be hosting a lawn party for him so he can tell our friends and neighbors about Obama.

    Oh man -- I'm a volunteer!!!

  4. Hey Lydia, just an interesting side note, but a while back everyone was angry with me for insisting Hilary Clinton was NOT conceding the election.

In fact, I got banned at Daily Kos for talking about it on the day of her so called "concession" speech.

Well, today we learned that Hilary is asking for the right to be "nominated" at the convention this fall.

Hate to say I told you so but...

  5. Wanna know how bad the McCain campaign is going,

Well his straight talk express bus just crashed into a mini-van in Florida making an ILLEGAL right turn from a left turn lane.

    More here

    Video here

How ya gonna lead the entire country if ya can't even safely navigate a bus on a street legally?

BTW I wonder if he had checked his tires?

  6. Funniest part Holy Joe Lie-berman was on it.

  8. Democratic Aides Working on Plan To Keep the Peace At the Convention

    By Anne E. Kornblut

With the clock running out on preparations for the Democratic convention, advisers to Sen. Barack Obama are scrambling to reach a compromise with Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton over exactly how her candidacy will be honored and how they will defuse the threat of upheaval from her supporters in Denver.

The Obama and Clinton camps said this week that they agree on a central point: They would like to avoid an embarrassing display of discord from Clinton's most ardent backers when the national convention begins in just over two weeks. Conversations about how to achieve that have increasingly focused on the question of whether Clinton's name will be offered in a roll-call vote by delegates to determine the nominee, even though she has said she is not challenging Obama's claim as the party's standard-bearer

    Yea, she sure did "concede".

  9. "IF" a roll call vote ended up giving her more delegates then Obama, she could steal the nomination.

  10. Sorry Clif, not to step on your fire there. Just noting some interesting developments this evening.

Thats hilarious about the McCain bus. Did you see that last night on Countdown where someone stuck an "OBAMA 08" sticker on the back of his campaign bus?

    Holy sh$t I laughed my a$$ off.

  11. I'd love to see the wise guy who had the gnads to run up and stick that bumper sticker on the McCain bus.

I can't imagine his security letting people get too close to that bus. It must have been someone with a press pass is all I can imagine. It sure took some guts, but boy that person was funny for doing it.

Those bumper stickers are hard to get off too, lol.

  13. Barack Obama puts a McCain backing MSM talking head in his place;

    Jon Ralston Interviews Barack Obama

Notice how Obama STOPS the McCain backing MSM talking head from interrupting ad destroying his response ....

Also see how Obama can clearly outline his energy policy which so many of the MSM claims doesn't exist.

But best of all showing how this supposed neutral person was framing his questions as a proxy for the McCain campaign.

  14. Unpaid bills are causing more utility shut-offs

Utility shut-offs for customers behind on their energy bills are increasing around the country, reaching 50% or more in some hard-hit areas, as the effects of rising prices and a sagging economy are beginning to drag down more vulnerable consumers.

Agencies that provide financial assistance for energy costs report long waiting lists and significant jumps in first-time applicants. With the prospect of much more serious trouble this winter, when bills traditionally are higher, Congress is exploring a significant increase in federal energy assistance as part of a second economic stimulus plan scheduled for consideration next month.

More of the Greenspan-Bush economic wonders in action,

and McSame wants to continue it?

  16. SOFA [in Iraq] Near to Agreement?

US out of Iraq at end of 2010?

McClatchy reports that two high Iraqi officials are leaking details of an "almost completed" security agreement between Washington and Baghdad.

    AP also has some details.

It would be unwise to consider it a done deal, but these are the main points:

    # US troops out of Iraqi cities by June, 2009, on bases

    # US combat troops out of Iraq "by 2011," i.e. about October 2010.

    # The rest of American soldiers out of Iraq by the end of 2013 [why do they need non-combat troops for three years?]

    # Private American contractors will be subject to Iraqi law and can be tried for crimes in Iraqi courts.

    # US troops need Iraqi permission to arrest Iraqi citizens

    # US troops are not immune from Iraqi law except while on American bases

Another American official told AP that he thought a withdrawal by 2010 was very "ambitious."

Another AP report adds,"One of the U.S. officials said Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki had a long and "very difficult" telephone conversation Wednesday in which she pressed the Iraqi leader for more flexibility, particularly on immunity."

It looks like Nuri al Maliki is doing to the status of forces agreement in Iraq, what Paris Hilton did to John Mcsame on the the energy debate.

Give the Bush White House a drumming ...

It includes a TIME LINE for withdrawl of US troops,

A time line which looks MUCH more like the Obama plan then the McSame 100 years in Iraq meme

Requirements that US forces operating in Iraq fall under Iraqi law [like almost all countries we have troops in] in the future, NO immunity for private contractors like Blackwater and Halliburton.

No wonder Bush ET Al seem to hate diplomacy, they suck at it, and even lose at it with their own hand picked puppet regimes .....

  17. BTW remember Bush's best friend in Pakistan?

    Well he has gotten plagued by the Bush anti-midas touch it seems;

Pakistan Coalition Moves to Impeach Musharraf

Pakistan’s usually fractious government moved decisively for the first time to impeach President Pervez Musharraf.

Now can we trade Nancy Pelosi for Fahmida Mirza, their speaker of the house, sort of like, like Green Bay just traded Bret Farve to the New York Jets?

Then we can get rid of our wanna be dictator just like Pakistan seem to be trying to do.

  18. I thought Paris's Ad was great and of course the right ridiculed Obama saying Paris's energy proposal was better than his, that goes for McCain too because she was right.
Did you hear McCain's latest Obama ad calling him the Anti Christ? I posted on it if you don't find it on you tube. I am sick of the underhanded liar saying he is just trying to lighten up the campaign. You know, ridicule and defame is his game! AAARRRGGGHHH!!!

  20. Hi Lydia!

We got to hang around a little together in Greece while you were filming Red Tide. I think we were the only two who managed the cobblestone streets of Monemvassia in high heels. You had a very trendy, open aired home that you shared your conveniences with, if you know what I mean. I really enjoyed getting to know you, albeit briefly. I learned from someone there, that you were a very bright, accomplished poet and I have wondered about you from time to time remembering you were down to earth and very realistic about celebrity and really a genuinely nice person.

I don't know if you remember me from the summer of 1980, but I was the mother of three little ones that got to hang around with the cast and crew. I had a lot of fun and I have some good memories of that summer. I think it was your last day there and we were trying to figure out how to spend it but alas, there wasn't enough time to actually go anywhere other than the usual haunts, the castle rock and the village.

I haven't had a chance to fully peruse your sight, but what I have seen so far, I agree with. Take care with all that you do, Love Linda K
