  1. Thank you Lydia and I am honored to be mentioned. I have been tagged several times before for this and I passed each time. I jokingly say that I have had my meme shot and am now immune to memes.

Again, thank you so much for thinking of me. Now I'm back off to continue watching Live Earth. I can't remember seeing and hearing this much music without someone asking me to donate money to a cause. All they are asking is that we stop being such pigs with our earth. I don't think that request is too much for any of us.

  2. Well while you're all "thinking", here's a few things to ponder about liberalism...

When the MSM designate someone an ultra-conservative, this actually means conservative. And when they refer to a moderate conservative, they mean a liberal who is a Republican in name only, such as Chuck Hagel. Of course, the MSM's favorite Republican is John McCain, because he is a maverick, meaning that he holds a lot of positions that are to the left of his party. This is in contrast to Joe Lieberman, who is a pariah for holding positions to the right of his party.

A "moderate judge" is one who will strike a balance between what the Constitution says and what the left would like it to say.

The Democrats are the pro-choice party, meaning the party that wants to choose how to direct your retirement, where to send your children to school, and how best to spend your money. They also want a fairness doctrine to make sure that the free marketplace of ideas doesn't accidentally result in fairness.

When liberals accuse you of suppressing their freedom of speech, it means that you are criticizing them, or perhaps even censoring them. But when you censor conservatives or suppress their freedom of speech, it is called a speech code. Calling President Bush a liar is a courageous act of speaking truth to power, while criticizing the liberal stance on the war is questioning their patriotism. Likewise, dissent is the highest form of patriotism, unless it is directed against global warming hysteria. Global warming is what will destroy the earth if it isn't first destroyed by global cooling.

Evil, of course, does not exist. George Bush, however, is evil. Speaking of things that don't exist, there is no such thing as the liberal media. However, the conservative media are any media that are not liberal. There is no global jihad against Christians and Jews, but Christians and Jews who think so are more dangerous than the jihadis.

A homeless person is what you call a chronically mentally ill person during a Republican administration. Similarly, during a Democratic administration, deficit spending is investing in our children's future. During a Republican administration it is called mortgaging our children's future. Tax cuts involve stealing the government's money in order to give it away to taxpayers. Democrats will not raise taxes. Rather, they will just repeal President Bush's tax cuts.

Racial profiling refers to common sense police work in identifying likely suspects. It is not allowed. Affirmative action refers to government enforced academic or occupational racial profiling. You are a racist if you don't endorse this kind of racial profiling. Likewise, civil rights are special rights for designated victims. A civil rights activist is a lobbyist for special rights for his ethnic victim group.

Blacks are people who are helpless and bumbling victims without the support and assistance of white liberals. Black conservatives are people who are abused and victimized by the left for refusing to be helpless and bumbling victims.

Multiculturalism, of course, involves seeing beauty in all cultures but your own. Diversity is the philosophy that treasures neo-Marxists of all skin colors and sexual deviations. When a liberal uses the word tolerance, this actually means approval and celebration of differences. If you merely accept differences, this means you are intolerant of them. For example, if you only tolerate homosexuality, you are a homophobe.

Everyone in Hollywood believes the same thing. That's why they are such rebellious individualists.

A Vietnam war veteran is a baby killer, but a conservative who avoided being a baby killer is a chicken hawk. A war hero is a baby killer such as John Kerry who opposes the Iraq war. A quagmire, of course, is any war opposed by liberals. Otherwise, you will never hear the word "quagmire" used in human discourse.

Bilingual education involves the difficult achievement of learning nothing in two languages. It is often employed to teach illegal immigrants, who are undocumented Democratic voters. Feminism is the celebration of masculine women who have angrily overcome their femininity, femininity being another category of oppressed victimhood. If you are a man who loves femininity, you are a chauvinist.

Homosexuality is a genetically caused condition that renders one incapable of engaging in sexual relations with the opposite sex. Its opposite, heterosexuality, is an arbitrary gender identification caused by cultural conditioning. Similarly, there is no such thing as the homosexual lifestyle, while queer studies departments engage in the study of the homosexual lifestyle.

Moral relativism is the absolute belief that no beliefs are absolute. Pornography is a type of expression that is protected by the first amendment, while religion, especially Christian religion, is a dangerous type of expression from which we are protected by the first amendment.

Yeah.....i guess thats why Bush, Rove and Gonzo tried to stack the justice Department with Reich Wing Ideologues who put party before the Constitution, Rule of Law and Justice for all.............Nice try there slick!!!!

Lets see so you are saying GWB DIDNT want to choose how people direct their retirements.............try again bud.

And it looks to me like YOUR DECIDER is choosing how best to spend our money he is choosing to spend it on endless war and death and redistributing wealth from the working class to the corporate elite......i'd love to see you try to counter those facts there Volty.

Oh and Volt there is no freemarketplace of ideas THATS why the Fairness Doctrine is needed, the Reich Wing Now control the MSM and through it access to imformation throw all the MEDIA EMPIRES that the FCC and SEC allowed them to create when they fell asleep at the wheel during Reich Wing Administrations(mostly) instead of doing their job to insure diversity of opinion, competitive markets and consumer choice.

It wasnt liberals who made "so called" "free speech zones" sometimes miles away from public events to stifle free speech.

Hey genius you dont question the liberal stance on a war and it is infered as questioning there patriotism..........you outright question their Patriotism Pinnochio!

Dissent is fine Volty you want to debate Global warming debate facts with unbiased sources, rather than attacking messenger personally.....which is ALL YOU CLOWNS DO because the facts are clearly NOT on your side.

There you go putting words in peoples mouths just like a dishonest troll..............Evil CERTAINLY does exist and the NEO CONS are the epitome of evil.

You are right there is NO such thing as the liberal media, the MSM is definately Conservative controlled and biased and supports the Conservative agenda....and anyone who thinks the MSM leans to the left is CLEARLY a fool and/or a liar.

I NEVER said there is NO global Jihad, there is and GWB and his pack of Neo Con fools are pouring gasoline on it and fanning the flames of hatred and nurturing them so they grow........Bush has done more to help the jihad grow and recruit than any man in history!

Funny coincidence isnt it how poverty and homelessness seem to increase during repug administrations.

Another funny coincidence we had a surplus rather than deficit spending during the last democratic Administration.

And giving tax cuts to the corporate elite and the ultra wealthy while cutting education and investment in the future, while good paying jobs are oursourced to low wage countries Certainly is mortgaging our childrens future unless your a brain dead idealogue.

Typical repug saying the Dems will raise taxes when the TRUTH is they are proposing to raise taxes on the super wealthy top 1%-5% of earners (who have benefited from GWB's tax cuts disproportionately to the working class), to pay for tax cuts for 80% of our nation...........so its dishonest to characterize a tax cut for 80% of our country or almost 240 million Americans as a tax increase its more Reich Wing spin and BS talking points with no substance.

Never said a Vietnam Vet is a babykiller thats the position you and your sockpuppets assign to us...........

As for a Quagmire........I believe your hero Dick Cheney used that turm when discussing why invading Iraq would be a mistake.......so your once again proven wrong since one of your own morons used it in discourse.

Now as far as I can tell pornography isnt a part of our education or government...............oh sorry, Dick Cheney was alledly on the DC Maddams list............oops silly me thats adultery not pornography, theres so many sins and corruption scandals involving repugs its hard to keep track!!!!!

  31. Yo dolty pull you head your out of your sphincter muscle son,

When the MSM designate someone an ultra-conservative, this actually means conservative.

Wrong id-jet conservatives USED to be against the goberment getting involved in somebody’s bedroom or their private lives, the ultra- conservatives failed that test

And when they refer to a moderate conservative, they mean a liberal who is a Republican in name only, such as Chuck Hagel.

wrong again son, the conservatives like Barry Gold water wouild tell you your full of pure unadulterated bullsh*t

Of course, the MSM's favorite Republican is John McCain, because he is a maverick, meaning that he holds a lot of positions that are to the left of his party. This is in contrast to Joe Lieberman, who is a pariah for holding positions to the right of his party.

McCain’s positions are much closer to what Goldwater his mentor espoused, and even closer to Reagan then the idiots trying to destroy this country today. Lieberman is just a political lying hack who is doing Israel’s biding to the determent of this country he swore to serve.

A "moderate judge" is one who will strike a balance between what the Constitution says and what the left would like it to say.

Too bad the reichwing attacks moderate judges like BUSH did is giving Irving Libby a get out of Jail Free pass. For crimes against this country, which is usually called TREASON.

The Democrats are the pro-choice party,

Right so far; the re-pubie anal retentive are the anti choice people.

meaning the party that wants to choose how to direct your retirement,

No son it is the reich wing hucksters who wanna FORCE people to put their hard earned money in the scam called investing in wall street and then allow the wall street investment bankers to pump up their profits with special charges, fees costs and penalties, so in the end the “investor” who WAS NOT given a choice, gets fleeced just like the sheeple who invested in Enron, Worldcom, Tyco, etc.....

where to send your children to school,

No widdle boy, they want a truly EQUAL education for ALL, one that allows the CHILD to learn the truths of SCIENCE and other people so they can function on the world and not become another BRAINWASHED home schooled id-jet which it seems you are.

and how best to spend your money.

Lets see, Reagan began the idea of borrowing from FUTURE GENERATIONS to spend their money because he knew more then they would about what they would face, Bush 41 followed suit, but it was the MORON in the white House who took the cake in spending others money against their will by borrowing up to one trillion dollars to fight an illegal war and HAND the future generations a debt along with hundreds of thousands of wounded veterans of Bush’s illegal war who need treatment and compensation for their combat disabilities.

They also want a fairness doctrine to make sure that the free marketplace of ideas doesn't accidentally result in fairness.

another OUTRIECH LIE. The fairness doctrine mandates equal time for opposing views, which the reichwing under Reagan (remember him he was the FOOLE who decided he could spend future generations money with out their permission?) Terminated the fairness doctrine so they could allow their spin and lie machine unfettered access to the air waves to spread their propaganda with no fact checking or counter view point6 allowed.

When liberals accuse you of suppressing their freedom of speech, it means that you are criticizing them, or perhaps even censoring them.

No stupid it means the reichwing goberment forces people into small out of the way areas to voice their rights to speech where the MSM and others are not.

It also means you clowns post stupid dishonest rants and refuse to allow the truth to be exposed like Dead eye has done with his energy task force, what he is doing which is in opposition to the US Constitution, and Law, and Bush’s signing statements.

But when you censor conservatives or suppress their freedom of speech, it is called a speech code.

No son the reichwing OWNS most of the MSM which means they are NOT censored, they have MANY corporate funded outlets which they use the PUBLIC air waves to spread their untrue hatefilled bile.......

Calling President Bush a liar is a courageous act of speaking truth to power,

    DAMN RIGHT SKIPPY.........

while criticizing the liberal stance on the war is questioning their patriotism

when you choose to attack a liberal who KNOWS volumes more that your gutless chicken shit chicken hawk as will ever know about military operations and military history, your doing EXACTLY that BOZO.

Nice to see you ADMIT it finally son.

. Likewise, dissent is the highest form of patriotism,

Well considering the FOUNDING FATHERS thought so, I would tread lightly here son, other wise you might be advocating the TORY position in 1776.

unless it is directed against global warming hysteria. Global warming is what will destroy the earth if it isn't first destroyed by global cooling.

Sorry son but Global warming is a scientific position, except for the home schooled id-jets who worship the worst president ever, and HE is as wrong on Global warming as the was on the WMD’s, the global cooling spin is your current meme to derail the TRUTH and attempt to attack something when you have NO real facts to use. Typical son.

Evil, of course, does not exist. George Bush, however, is evil.

son could YOU clowns get it straight do you want us to be afraid of “evil” or not?

Damn son you’d think your trying to spread some stupid reichwing propaganda here.

Speaking of things that don't exist, there is no such thing as the liberal media.

    No son there is NOT

Fox is owned buy News Corp owned by the reichwing media king Rupert Murdoch.

NBC, CNBC, MSNBC is owned by General Electric a MAJOR defense contractor.

ABC is owned by Walt Disney inc., a very right leaning corporation, which funded a major dishonest hit job last fall to try in vain to prop up the reichwing message before the election because the reichwing message and kool aid has lost a lot of people lately.

CBS, and CNN are owned by VIACOM, another large corporation who’s corporate heads use their funds to enable the reichwing spin to dom9inate the airwaves especially when it comes to the attack machine on liberals, and anything which questions the propaganda coming out oof the Neo-cons and Israel.

However, the conservative media are any media that are not liberal.

Sorry son but in the last three decades the right has spent quite a bit of time and money getting control of the media so their illegal criminal anti-American plans could be hatched and spread to the determent of the American people who have suffered with the outsourcing of their jobs, watching their sons and daughters sent off to war based on a lie, and having their entire standard of living undermined for corporate profits over everything else.

There is no global jihad against Christians and Jews, but Christians and Jews who think so are more dangerous than the jihadis.

Damn son you’re a IDIOT, there is a MINORITY of the Islam peoples who want to do the west harm, they were based for the most part in Afghanistan and Pakistan, pre 9-11, and when Bush attacked their base of power EVERY person conservatives liberals and independents were totally on board with him,

HOWEVER when he ALLOWED Osama to escape,

    THEN;

told the American people along with the entire world he(Bush) didn’t think about Osama much, he lost most of us, because it was apparent that he wanted to attack Iraq which had NOTHING to do with 9-11, but when he ILLEGALLY INVADED a sovereign nation because Bush claimed the RIGHT to depose Saddam, he was doing exactly what Saddam had done when Saddam Invaded Kuwait. Thus Bush is just as much a CRIMINAL as Saddam ever was.

A homeless person is what you call a chronically mentally ill person during a Republican administration.

Well son, since Ronald “depends wearing” Reagan dumped hundreds of t5housands of people out fo community mental health care facilities, that would be exactly that.

Similarly, during a Democratic administration, deficit spending is investing in our children's future.

Son IF you spend the money on schools to teach those children, health care FOR those children, infrastructure so their parents can have better jobs, and saving the environment so the children can enjoy the planet I would say that statement is CORRECT.

During a Republican administration it is called mortgaging our children's future.

Well widdle boy the reichwing ALWAYS want to cut taxes, and things the children NED to build large and more weapons to fight wars which those children end up fighting for the rich, and given Bush has wasted $500,000,000,000 directly in Iraq all borrowed form the children and their education, health care, environment protection, and better infrastructure and jobs for their parents, I would say that is also correct..

What Bush is also handing these children is HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF WOUNDED disabled veterans who will need medical care for their ENTIRE lives, and a disability pension for the ones unable to work, because of their service in Bush’s illegal war.

And THAT Bill could end up being 2-3 TRILLION dollars

Tax cuts involve stealing the government's money in order to give it away to taxpayers.

No son tax cuts for the rich when you use the Social security tax to pay for half of them is STEALING from the poor and middle class to FUND the rich greed.

In the end all the money Bush ET AL has stolen from SS to fund their ill-conceived tax cuts are going to cost those children YOUR so worried about 3 to 4 times as much as the tax cuts benefited the rich.

Democrats will not raise taxes. Rather, they will just repeal President Bush's tax cuts.

Damn skippy son, stop STEALING form future generations so the rich can avoid their real costs they need to PAY for the society they are living in and in many cases OFF of. The Bush Tax cuts added over 3 trillion dollars to the debt which future generations will have to find some way to pay for with out the industrial base which Bush ET Al allowed to be outsourced to China so Wal-Mart and some large corporations could make a few extra bucks for a couple of years.

Racial profiling refers to common sense police work in identifying likely suspects.

NO son racial profiling is LOOKING for only one race or ethnic trait to look for criminals, instead of doing a little more work and real policing instead of using short cuts which end up HURTING thousands of innocent people to find a few criminals.

    It is not allowed.

Damn skippy son, discrimination WITH OUT cause is illegal, if the police have PROOF they can arrest people if NOT they need to do the HARD work to get that proof instead of setting up an entire RACE for illegal immoral special inspections and harassment.

I though we stopped using RACE as a police technique back in 1945........

Affirmative action refers to government enforced academic or occupational racial profiling.

No son affirmative action is an attempt to LEVEL the playing field after CENTURIES of discrimination which has placed certain ethnic groups and in some cases WOMEN at a distinct disadvantage because of the results of discrimination of the RICH and dominate culture. Are YOU that stupid you actually believe the crap YOU spewed here son?

You are a racist if you don't endorse this kind of racial profiling.

NOT racial profiling son, because it is NOT a legal attack on individuals to deny them their freedom based on their race..........

Likewise, civil rights are special rights for designated victims. A civil rights activist is a lobbyist for special rights for his ethnic victim group.

Since the country USED to use Jim Crow laws to FORCE people out of their rightful position, something is needed to compensate so the playing field could be corrected from the CENTURIES of discrimination.

Blacks are people who are helpless and bumbling victims without the support and assistance of white liberals. Black conservatives are people who are abused and victimized by the left for refusing to be helpless and bumbling victims.

Nice to see just how despicable your willing to stereotype this situation and totally ignore the very real history of the centuries of racial discrimination by the dominate white Culture against those people they dominate culture decided were less than a person, even as other members of cultures like the Germans, Irish, Italians and Eastern Europeans were allowed to move out of their places as undesirable immigrants, the black were forced by LAWS into situation which as recent as half a century ago Governors of states were opposing Federal troops to integrate schools, and people went to jail for sitting in the front of the bus if they were black.

Multiculturalism, of course, involves seeing beauty in all cultures but your own.

NO stupid multi-cultural is seeing others as equals to you and seeing their culture as just a different way of living by people who were raised that way.

Diversity is the philosophy that treasures neo-Marxists of all skin colors and sexual deviations.

That is one of the DUMBEST statement I have ever seen. It adds a dash of racism, attacks on people who do not worship the corporate state, and slings mud at people because of their sexual lifestyle.

Diversity is just allowing different people to be DIFFERENT...nothing more.

When a liberal uses the word tolerance, this actually means approval and celebration of differences. If you merely accept differences, this means you are intolerant of them. For example, if you only tolerate homosexuality, you are a homophobe.

Sorry son but since the reichwing has raised hundreds of millions of dollars attacking gays, and based their 2004 election strategy on making gays the scapegoats of the hatred of people LIKE YOU, this statement is a non sequetar....

Everyone in Hollywood believes the same thing. That's why they are such rebellious individualists.

Michael Moore and Charleston Heston believe the same thing?

Rosy O’Donnell and Tom Sellack believe the same thing?

The people who run Walt Disney studios and Martin Scorsese believe the same thing?

    Feel ,stupid YET?

YOU should with dumb comment like that one son.

A Vietnam war veteran is a baby killer, but a conservative who avoided being a baby killer is a chicken hawk.

No son the people Who lied and forced the Vietnam war on America, the Dulles brothers, the reichwingers of the 50"s who LIED about what was really happening there and sent in the CIA to try to destabilize the country because they wanted to control Vietnam just like Bush and Cheney wanted to control Iraq, were the ones who unleashed the bombers which bombed whole villages babies and their parents.

The chicken shit chicken hawks are the gutless punks who did everything they had to do to stay OUT of Vietnam even though they supported the war but not with their sorry asses. Today they support an illegal immoral attack on Iraq and it’s people just like the Dulles Brothers set Vietnam up, and it’s people for the attack of the United States military to enrich a few corporations, and set up another client state with a puppet government just like Bush has tried to do in Iraq.

A war hero is a baby killer such as John Kerry who opposes the Iraq war.

John Kerry never killed any babies son, and he did a hell of a lot more that George W Bush, Richard Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Paul Wolfowitz, Richard Perle, Douglas Feith, William Kristol, Condi Rice, Stephen Hadley, Cambone, Elliot Abrams, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Bill O’Riely, Rick Santarum, Joe Lieberman, Richard Shelby, Chambliss, Dan Quayle, Mitch McConnell, Trent Lott, Jon Kyl, John Ensign, John Boehner, Roy Blunt, Adam Putnam, Thaddeus McCotter, Tom Cole, Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney, Tom Delay, George Allen, William Frist, John Ashcroft. Newt Gingrich, Michael Savage, John Wayne, Kenneth Starr, Ann Coulter, Michael Medved, Ralph Reed, and YOU, you chicken shit chicken hawk, ever did,

BTW foole so did Al Gore, Max Cleland, Ted Kennedy, George McGovern, Jimmy Carter, Jim Webb, John Murtha among other people, YOU like to attack.

A quagmire, of course, is any war opposed by liberals. Otherwise, you will never hear the word "quagmire" used in human discourse.

    YO foole Google begs to differ with your LIE son;

Results 1 - 10 of about 3,340,000 for quagmire when I “did the google” for the word quagmire.........

    Oh son and Merrium Webster also says your full of Sheeite son;

    quagmire
    Pronunciation: 'kwag-"mI(-&)r, 'kwäg-
    Function: noun
1 : soft miry land that shakes or yields under the foot
2 : a difficult, precarious, or entrapping position : PREDICAMENT

But when USED as a comment about war Vietnam and Iraq are quagmires widdle chicken shit chicken hawk scaredy pants boy.......

Bilingual education involves the difficult achievement of learning nothing in two languages.

    Damn son another distorted definition?

Bilingual really means you proficient in two languages which is something desired by the CIA, State Department, and US military since all three actually go over seas and do something your far too gutless to do son.

It is often employed to teach illegal immigrants, who are undocumented Democratic voters. Feminism is the celebration of masculine women who have angrily overcome their femininity, femininity being another category of oppressed victimhood. If you are a man who loves femininity, you are a chauvinist.

More reichwing bloviating based on stupid propaganda talking points which have NO basis in reality.

Homosexuality is a genetically caused condition that renders one incapable of engaging in sexual relations with the opposite sex.

    Ya thunk?

Actually son quite a few scientists think there is some merit to what you write here widdle boy......

Its opposite, heterosexuality, is an arbitrary gender identification caused by cultural conditioning

No son it would also be genetically determined stupid, damn are you trying to steal tiny the liars crown as the blog idiot?.

Similarly, there is no such thing as the homosexual lifestyle, while queer studies departments engage in the study of the homosexual lifestyle.

Another stupid hate filled statement by somebody who is factually challenged as well as a gutless chicken shit chicken hawk.......

Moral relativism is the absolute belief that no beliefs are absolute.

Yes son and it has been practice quite well by the Bushites in their attempts to undermine the middle class, destroy the environment for corporate profit, and destroy many lower class people access to the courts to try to counter the very large advantage the rich and corporations hold over them.

Pornography is a type of expression that is protected by the first amendment,

well son since quite a few large corporation make a hell of a lot of MONEY off it, places like the Hilton Hotels where they allow access to porn on their in room channels FOR MONEY, they even did this even though Mitt Romney was on their board of Directors, and almost every cable channel MAKES MILLIONS of dollars each year charging for the access to porn on cable channels they offer, screech at them son...........

while religion, especially Christian religion, is a dangerous type of expression from which we are protected by the first amendment.

    No son the FIRST amendment actually says;

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Looks like they said CONGRESS can’t make any religion a state religion, something the reichweingers WANT for their special brand of Christianity, which actually is far from what Jesus actually preached son,

BTW widdle boy you did READ this part didn’t ya son?

    prohibiting the free exercise thereof

doesn’t that mean they can’t STOP you personally from exercising your religion as long as your NOT forcing other people to convert or practice as YOU and ONLY YOU see fit?

No-Confidence Vote Looms Over Iraq's PM

The Iraq Project To Call For A July 15 No-Confidence Vote For Al-Maliki

For four years, Iraqis have been waiting in lines at gas stations in Baghdad, waiting for their lives to get better. But, as CBS News chief foreign correspondent Lara Logan reports, the situation has gotten worse and their government is now in crisis.

That has led senior Iraqi leaders to demand drastic change. CBS News has learned that on July 15, they plan to ask for a no-confidence vote in the Iraqi parliament as the first step to bringing down the government of Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki.

Even those closest to the Iraqi prime minister, from his own party, admit the political situation is desperate.

"I feel there is no strategy, so the people become hopeless," said Faliy al Fayadh, an MP from the Dawa Party. "You can live without petrol, without electricity, but you can't live without hope."

Iraq's prime minister is facing his most serious challenge yet. The no-confidence vote will be requested by the largest block of Sunni politicians, who are part of a broad political alliance called the Iraq Project. What they want is a new government run by ministers who are appointed for their expertise, not their party loyalty.

The Iraq Project is known to the highest levels of the U.S. government. CBS News has learned it was discussed in detail on Vice President Dick Cheney's most recent visit to Baghdad, when he met with the Iraqi Vice President Tariq al-Hashimi.

Al-Maliki has announced his own alliance to try save his government, but even his vice president says that's little more than a short-term fix.

"Cosmetic change is not going to serve the interests of Iraqis is not going to stabilize, is not going to improve security , what we need is much bigger that that," said al Hashimi, the leader of the Iraqi Islamic Party.

Leaders of the Iraq Project claim they have the necessary votes to force al-Maliki to resign, but that has yet to be tested in parliament. For now, the U.S. is still standing by the Iraqi leader – publicly at least.

Since that filing, Delphi said its UAW membership has dropped to about 17,000 due to buyouts and early retirements, and by the end of this year, it expects to have 4,703 UAW employees as it closes and sells plants. Total UAW employment could drop to as low as 2,306 in 2012, it said this past week in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court filing in New York.

Arctic ice melting faster as temperatures climb

'Best answer is warming,' say researchers, who predict trend to continue

The observations showed 2.06 million square miles of sea ice as late as Sept. 19. That’s the lowest measurement of Arctic sea ice cover ever recorded, the researchers said. It’s also 20 percent less than the average of end-of-summer ice pack cover measurements recorded since 1978.

At the same time, average air temperatures across most of the Arctic region from January to August 2005 were as much as 5.4 degrees warmer than average temperature over the last 50 years, said the team of researchers from two universities and NASA.

Would you know how to interpret the data if you even saw it yourself?

Quite a bit, because I do understand the underlieng science, and have the ability to think with out the reichwing talking points...

    BTW I am NOT trying to defend a discredited partisan position where the reichwing has lied for the last quarter century and tried to derail the US and it's constitution for their benefit and enrichment of the greedy rich bastards who have funded this attempt to steal america from the people and their descendants, just like some reichwingers tried when Franklin Roosevelt was president;

In 1934 [Maj Gen Smedley Darlington] Butler came forward and reported to the U.S. Congress that a group of wealthy industrialists had been plotting to overthrow the government of President Franklin D. Roosevelt in a military coup. Even though the congressional investigating committee corroborated most of the specifics of his testimony, no further action was taken.

    BTW foole Smedley Butler was no dirty f&%king Hippie son;

Butler was awarded the brevet medal (the highest Marine medal at its time), and subsequently the Medal of Honor twice during his career, one of only 19 people to be awarded the MOH medal twice.

Obviously he failed the reichwing gutless chicken hawk test ...twice......and then defended the country from their treasonous aims, just like we are trying to stop the treason of Bush, Cheney and the neo-cons at this time.

Illegally invading a country based on those lies.

Illegally occupying that country, which has caused the deaths of up to 750,000 Iraqi civilians, and wounded untold numbers of them, and causing over 4 million refugees and destroying theior country and economy so it will take at least a full generation for the people of Iraq to recover.

The illegal war and occupation has caused 3605 US soldier deaths based on his illegal war and the lies which are it's foundation.

Also this illegal war and the lies which underlie it caused 26,558 wounded US soldiers almost half who have to carry their wounds so severe that they couldn't return to the battle for the rest of their lives.

Also this illegal war and the lies which are it's foundation, caused the people of the US to be ROBBED of up to $500,000,000,000 from their pockets and the pockets of future generations to fund the illegal war of George W Bush.

Illegally wiretapping the US citizens and lying about it.

Violations the Geneva Convention or ordering that people under his command to violate the same.

Ignoring the oath to DEFEND the US constitution, even to the point of signing a bill from congress to attempt to ignore a section about habeas corpus with out following the proper amendment procedure which is laid out in detail in the constitution.

Failing in his duty to protect the environment for future generations.

Failing to properly defend the country to wit seal the porous ports and borders at a time of war, especially since he admits the people who he says wants to harm us all would use those avenues of approach to infiltrate the country.

  63. Outing Valerie Plame aided our enemies

    By Bob Ewegen
    Denver Post Columnist

After 44 years in journalism, I don't get angry very often about the dirty tricks that so often besmirch the American political process.

But I am angry about the Valerie Plame affair, a sordid tale that flared anew this week when President George Bush commuted the prison sentence of Lewis "Scooter" Libby.

I am not angry at the commutation or the pettifogging partisan exchanges it spawned. I am angry at the underlying event - the fact that an American patriot whose only crime was to serve her country in a dangerous and honorable profession had her mission undercut for partisan political purposes.

I am even angrier that the vicious "outing" of Valerie Plame put her sources at risk - the men and women in foreign countries who had risked their own lives to help America in our war on terror.

In the intelligence trade, such foreign sources are called "assets." I call them heroes. And they are the ones who were put most at risk after columnist Robert Novak revealed Plame's CIA connection as part of a clumsy Bush administration effort to discredit her husband, former Ambassador Joseph Wilson, who had become a critic of the Iraq war.

To explain why this case angers me so deeply, let me give you a number: RA68031300. It identifies me as a Vietnam-era veteran of the United States Army. After enlisting, I took basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., where I received orders sending me to Fort Sill, Okla., for training in artillery, after which I expected to be sent to Vietnam.

Because someone in the Pentagon noticed I had worked for United Press International, I was called out on my last day of basic and redirected to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. I ultimately became editor of the post newspaper, the Pointer View.

So in the end, my personal risk in my military career was limited to some really awful haircuts. But the names of 58,000 of my comrades engraved on a wall in Washington, D.C., prove that my story could have ended differently. Those names also explain why I will never forgive anyone who willfully puts the lives of America's military or intelligence personnel or our friends abroad in danger.

And that's exactly what former Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage did when he leaked Plame's identity to Novak - and what Novak did when he published the name of a covert CIA agent.

Between Armitage's dishonorable act and Novak's dishonorable act were a string of other dishonorable acts, including an executive order by President Bush empowering Vice President Cheney to declassify classified information, which Cheney did, thus allowing Libby to shop Plame's identity around in hopes of finding a journalist willing to smear Wilson through his wife. With Libby's information confirming Armitage's original tip, Novak willingly blew Plame's cover.

In so doing, he didn't put Plame at personal risk, because she was not overseas at the time. But he did irrevocably damage her mission - and put those human "assets" at risk.

You see, al-Qaeda and its ilk rarely try to kill CIA agents - or anyone else who can fight back. What these cowards do is kill people who have worked with U.S. agents.

You can imagine the conversation: "Hmm, that Valerie Plame who visited here turns out to be a CIA agent. Didn't she hang out at Hamid's coffee shop a lot?"

Next day, Hamid's body turns up, along with the bodies of his wife and family, all of whom were tortured to death before his eyes.

That's the way our enemies play the game. That's why we train brave men and women like Valerie Plame so America can fight back.

The outing of Plame may have been technically legal, as the commutation of Libby's sentence undoubtedly was. But our supreme law, the U.S. Constitution, still defines treason as giving aid and comfort to our enemies in time of war.

And in this aging veteran's eyes, that's exactly what Armitage, Cheney, Libby and Novak did.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Voltron,
If you don't call the outing of Valerie Plame treason, if you don't call LYING to start a war -- TREASON... if you don't call usurping the U.S. Constitution and overturning Democratic rights of all citizens, plus overturning Habeas Corpus, plus secretly getting Bin Laden's family out of the U.S., plus secretly meeting with the Saudis to collude oil pricing, plus hiring contractors that stole 12 billion from our U.S. taxpayer-funded war chest... (money diverted to Haliburton ghost employees... plus SELLING OUR PORTS TO THE UAE... you don't call this treason?

Then you are not a patriot.

Bill O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh and John Gibson have deliberately lied to the American people in nearly every broadcast, defending Bush and Cheney's evil. Lying to the American people about Iraq having WMD, knowing full well Bush lied to us. And Ann Coulter is allowed to bully good Chrisitan Americans and get away with saying "Iraq was responsible for 911"

Fox even labeled Obama as "Osama" several times, until they were caught and had to change the type.
Fox News and Michael Savage, et al used fear-mongering to try to make Americans afraid of their fellow man, afraid of "liberals" (one of th most beautiful words in the English language) afraid of immigrants, afraid of everything in order to make a profit.

    ReplyDelete
  65. And invading a country like Iraq, when the whole world was hovering over Sadaam -- his hands were tied -- INVADING A NATION like Iraq is treasonous on Bush's part because we aided and abetted our enemies -- Al Qaeda -- by allowing them to triple and quadruple and grow.

We did the very thing we were supposed to be trying to avoid: put our footprint on their holy land, which is why they hated us in the first place, and we created more enemies, more hatred in the world toward us, so we aided our enemies.

This is treason. And your "fair and balanced" media aided and abetted these groups by inflaming hatred and divisiveness..

    ReplyDelete
  66. The Problem with “This Week”, is that they ALWAYS put the liberals or Democrats in a weak position.

Every week the round table is made up of a very strong, very masculine right wing pundit, a very weak and soft spoken far left fringe liberal, (almost always a female) and an articulate well educated moderate or two, who likes to hear themselves talk, and who invariably mocks the far left liberal, and cowtows to the conservative.

Farid Zakaria is an educated and articulate man, who likes to hear himself talk. George Will is an educated and articulate man, who LOVES to hear himself talk. Both tend to attack far left “wingnuts” and bow to strong, vocal right wing guests.

I am seriosuly sick of seeing Katrina Vanderhooval and Donna Brazille representing the left, who are the two most frequent guests This Week has for their left wing round table pundits. Both are weak, softspoken far left spokespersons, and of course, both are women, which is fine, but the image presented to the country is republicans are the party of strong male figures, and the left is a bunch of soft spoken weak women. And when they do put a man on we get someone like Dick Durban or Al Sharpton. Whats wrong with putting strong, vocal person like David Shuster on or Scott Ritter? Lets put Paul Riekhoff up against the right wing tough guys they pick?

And why does Stephanopolis always laugh at the left wing candidate and bow to the right wing? Why does he give the right wing the first word, and usually the last? I know why the right gets all the air time though. Its because the right wing guest invariably interrupts the left wing guest, who sits back and try’s to look like they’re the “nice one”, while they let the right wing guest stomp all over them.

I for one am boycotting “This Week”. I used to watch it religiously, but its turned into a stump for the right wing as it casts the right always in a favorable light, and the left in a light of feminine, soft spoken weak willed, passive debating wimps.

You’d never know Stephanopolis worked for Clinton.

    BOYCOTT THIS WEEK!!!!!!!

Exactly. The CIA and the Baker Commission BOTH agree with what you just said with regards to increasing Al Queada's presence in the world.

Before 911, Al Queada was a singular hierarchal organization.

Thanks to Bush's decision to further desecrate the middle east, and invade Iraq and Afghanistan, Al Queada has grown into, according to the CIA, a "franchise", which spreads to the four corners of the earth.

If we ever expect to be heard, we need to see guys like David Shuster and Scott Ritter on these shows, or we'll always seem like the weaker party.

  70. Good point Bartlebee, but think about this: women are the more evolved gender. We don't start wars and the new enlightenment has women at the forefront.

We are the peacemakers. And if you read biblical history correctly, a woman is key to everything...

    (just an esoteric sidenote.)

Also, they use MAN COULTER as their tough guy somtimes. How neanderthal and eye-for-an-eye can you get?

  71. Lydia, I have learned that there is no reasoning with children like Voltron. They have been force fed the Right Wing Kool-Aid Pablum for so long they develop an immunity to the truth. We can only hope that time and events will eventually make the toxins dissipate. Until then all we can do is hold our ground, embrace the truth and ignore the propaganda dribble and drool that comes from their mouths.

Well, all thats open for debate I imagine, (men might have something to say about all that) but its moot to my point.

My point is if we want to actually try and WIN a few elections, and beat the right wing, then we need to put some spokesmen out there that can stand up to the right wing pundits they put out there.

Why not have Keith Olberman on the round table on This Week? Why not David Shuster or Scott Ritter?

Why is it ALWAYS Donna Brazille, or Katrina Vanderhooval? Arriana Huffington is a good outspoken left wing pundit, and she can usually hold her own, but we need more than that.

If you want to know what I am talking about, then you need to watch this interview with David Shuster who was guest hosting Hardball this week. You can watch it here.

    CLICK THE VIDEO TO WATCH

THIS is the kind of pundit we need out there representing the left.

Why? Because we've ALREADY GOT the womens vote. We've ALREADY GOT the minority vote.

We need the WHITE MALE vote, and we're not going to get it by putting Donna Brazille out in front to represent us on the 3 most popular Sunday morning talk shows.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Its fine that we are the party of inclusion, but inclusion doesn't just mean women and miniorites.

We have plenty of strong, outspoken and well informed left wing white male pundits, but you'd never know it to watch the MSM news shows.

If David Schuster Paul Hackett were permitted to sit on the left wing panel on these shows, we'd be winning elections left and right (pardon the pun).

    ReplyDelete
  74. And if this sounds racist to anyone, then they're not listening.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Bartlebee - all you say is true.

Yes we need and have many strong men on the left. Paul Waldman is amazing!!

    So is Eric Altermann

For that matter, KEITH OLBERMANN HIMSELF!!

    ReplyDelete
  76. If we can just get guys like you just mentioned on the MSM, to stand against the Ed Gillespie types, we'll win the whole thing.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Did you look at that interview I just linked?

David Shuster, who is an Emmy award winning journalist who also was in the Pentagon on 911, just CLEANED THAT CLOWNS CLOCK!!!

He didn't take sides, he just demanded that the guy be factual, and when he wasn't, he called him on it.

There is not two sides to every issue. Right is right and wrong is wrong.

  78. By the way, Idiotron -- oops, I mean Voltron. Since you bring up WW2 let's go ahead and explore this little tangent.

See, if this were the WW2 era, we would not be in jail because we would be supporting the war effort. As I recall, we were attacked by Japan and four days later, Germany declared war on the united States. We responded by declaring war on both Japan and Germany. That was with Roosevelt in charge.

If Bush had been in charge back in WW2 era, he would have responded to the Japan attack by declaring war on Iceland so he could control their hot springs.

Not very tightly it would seem.

He shot at our planes defending the no fly zone, corrupted the oil for food program with the help of France, Russia and the UN, Used the money to help pay families of terrorists, engaged in mass genocide of his own people, harbored terrorists and allowed them to recupperate in his hospitals, hindered in every way possible the UN weapons inspectors, and was actively TRYING to aquire WMD's, we know this because your beloved Clinton administration said so as well as Democrats in congress at the time, Unless you believe W was advising them too?

"We did the very thing we were supposed to be trying to avoid: put our footprint on their holy land, which is why they hated us in the first place,..."

Well if that's true, what "footprint" do the nordic countries have over there? What about Indonesia? What about France, their biggest supporter both domestically and in the UN? Why do they hate them so much?

    Why hasn't Armitage been indicted?

"...if you don't call LYING to start a war -- TREASON..."

    What "lie" was that? WMD's?

The Clinton administration told the same one, the Dems in congress at the time told the same one, MANY other countries (including RUSSIA) told the same one...

"...if you don't call usurping the U.S. Constitution and overturning Democratic rights of all citizens, plus overturning Habeas Corpus,..."

Not true, only done to suspected terrorists...

"...plus secretly getting Bin Laden's family out of the U.S.,...

It wasn't a secret, and they were debriefed by the CIA before they left, AND most of his family AREN'T terrorists and might have been injured or killed by the backlash after 9/11...

"...plus secretly meeting with the Saudis to collude oil pricing,..."

Haven't heard about that one yet...

"...plus hiring contractors that stole 12 billion from our U.S. taxpayer-funded war chest... (money diverted to Haliburton ghost employees..."

    Unproven allegations (so far)

"...plus SELLING OUR PORTS TO THE UAE..."

Didn't happen. After the uproar the Red Chinese got 'em. Happy?

    "you don't call this treason?"

    Not yet.

"Then you are not a patriot."

    More opinion...

"Bill O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh and John Gibson have deliberately lied to the American people in nearly every broadcast, defending Bush and Cheney's evil. Lying to the American people about Iraq having WMD, knowing full well Bush lied to us..."

See above about the lies of the previous administration and Democrats...

"...And Ann Coulter is allowed to bully good Chrisitan Americans and get away with saying "Iraq was responsible for 911"

Even the 9/11 report says there are "INDIRECT" connections...

"Fox even labeled Obama as "Osama" several times, until they were caught and had to change the type."

Yes and so did Teddy *hic* Kennedy..."Osama Obama"...LOL

Kinda like how CNN showed the picture of Cheney with a big black "X" through his face huh?

"Fox News and Michael Savage, et al used fear-mongering to try to make Americans afraid of their fellow man, afraid of "liberals" (one of th most beautiful words in the English language) afraid of immigrants, afraid of everything in order to make a profit."

There are some we SHOULD be afraid of, not the paralysing terror fear, but a cautious awareness of what they're up to. Particularly liberals...

And we're not particularly "afraid" of immigrants, we just want them to come here LEGALLY, and in reasonable numbers. If you want to give them amnesty, what other crimes do you think should be forgiven?

And as a side note to Clif,

The constitution only applies to CITIZENS of the United States, not foreign nationals, AND we are NOT signatories to every article of the Geneva conventions.

And the ones we DID sign, make execptions for those on the battlefield NOT wearing a uniform.

    Dumb As Hell

    by digby

Thompson, now preparing a bid for the 2008 GOP presidential nomination, won fame in 1973 for asking a committee witness the bombshell question that revealed Nixon had installed hidden listening devices and taping equipment in the Oval Office.

Those tapes show Thompson played a behind-the-scenes role that was very different from his public image three decades ago. He comes across as a partisan willing to cooperate with the Nixon White House's effort to discredit the committee's star witness.

It was Thompson who tipped off the White House that the Senate committee knew about the tapes. They eventually cinched Nixon's downfall in the scandal resulting from the break-in at Democratic headquarters in the Watergate complex in Washington and the subsequent White House cover-up.

Thompson, then 30, was appointed counsel by his political mentor, Tennessee Sen. Howard Baker, the top Republican on the Senate investigative committee. Thompson had been an assistant U.S. attorney in Nashville, Tenn., and had managed Baker's re-election campaign. Thompson later was a senator himself.

Nixon was disappointed with the selection of Thompson, whom he called "dumb as hell." The president did not think Thompson was skilled enough to interrogate unfriendly witnesses and would be outsmarted by the committee's Democratic counsel.

This assessment comes from audio tapes of White House conversations recently reviewed by The Associated Press at the National Archives in College Park, Md., and transcripts of those discussions that are published in "Abuse of Power: The New Watergate Tapes," by historian Stanley Kutler.

"Oh s---, that kid," Nixon said when told by his chief of staff, H.R. Haldeman, of Thompson's appointment on Feb. 22, 1973.

"Well, we're stuck with him," Haldeman said.

In a meeting later that day in the Old Executive Office Building, Baker assured Nixon that Thompson was up to the task. "He's tough. He's six feet five inches, a big mean fella," the senator told Nixon.

Publicly, Baker and Thompson presented themselves as dedicated to uncovering the truth. But Baker had secret meetings and conversations with Nixon and his top aides, while Thompson worked cooperatively with the White House and accepted coaching from Nixon's lawyer, J. Fred Buzhardt, the tapes and transcripts show.

    [...]

Nixon expressed concern that Thompson was not "very smart."

    "Not extremely so," Buzhardt agreed.

    "But he's friendly," Nixon said.

"But he's friendly," Buzhardt agreed. "We are hoping, though, to work with Thompson and prepare him, if Dean does appear next week, to do a very thorough cross-examination."

Five days later, Buzhardt reported to Nixon that he had primed Thompson for the Dean cross-examination.

"I found Thompson most cooperative, feeling more Republican every day," Buzhardt said. "Uh, perfectly prepared to assist in really doing a cross-examination."

Later in the same conversation, Buzhardt said Thompson was "willing to go, you know, pretty much the distance now. And he said he realized his responsibility was going to have be as a Republican increasingly."

Here's how Thompson described it in his book:

Thompson, in his 1975 memoir, wrote that he believed "there would be nothing incriminating" about Nixon on the tapes, a theory he said "proved totally wrong."

"In retrospect it is apparent that I was subconsciously looking for a way to justify my faith in the leader of my country and my party, a man who was undergoing a violent attack from the news media, which I thought had never given him fair treatment in the past," Thompson wrote. "I was looking for a reason to believe that Richard M. Nixon, President of the United States, was not a crook."

    He was just "feeling Republican."

Tricky really should have burned those tapes. Clearly, Thompson would have gladly jumped in the fire to make sure there was nothing left of them.

He must have known for years now that he's featured on them. Why he went out on a limb to defend Scooter, knowing that, is beyond comprehension. It would be an amazing irony if they ended up taking him down too.

    He is dumb as hell.

Damn NOT another stupid chicken shit chicken hawk reichwinger, hasn't Reagan and Chimpy McFlightsuit done ENOUGH damage to this country for the reich wing?

It is not simple happenstance that Liz Cheney, Mary Matalin, and Mark Carallo are playing key roles in the nascent campaign. U.S. Ambassador Michael Retzer also is leaving his post to work on the Thompson campaign. In fact (you'll love this), based on work I did in 1996 on the Dole campaign I got a call asking if I was interested in working on the Thompson campaign. I told my friend that Thompson's enabling of Scooter Libby disqualified him from any serious consideration for President as far as I am concerned.

They know a lazy no good for nothing rube when they see one,

after bush they thought they wouldn't get another LAZY useless reichwing front man who isn't willing to do the hard work but would outsource the pResidency to anybody who'll do the hard work,(from a secret undisclosed location.)

NO, you read left wing blogs and news sites and watch left wing television. You CHOOSE to believe the worst and call everyone else a liar because of your hatred for one man. And that's even based on the lies you CHOOSE to believe.

  153. Oh and one thing Reich Wing Dunces like YOU are trying to obscure and obfuscate by comparing Bush's pardon of Libby to Clinton;s pardon of his brother is the simple but obvious fact that:

Bush's pardon of Libby was an attempt by a megalomaniac wannbe dictator to obstruct justice and cover up crimminal activities of a lackey in his OWN administration who tried to obstruct justice by covering up his masters role in outing a CIA agent and selling an illegal war based on lies.............if THAT isnt treason you dirt dum troll you tell me what is????????????

All Clinton did was possibly exhibit some cronnyism making some questionable pardons that not only Libby was onvolved in but you clowns CLAIM is the presidents uninfrinable right.

Pardoning someone in his own administration is a conflict of interest to be certain, but pardoning him specifically to obstruct justice and protect himself and Cheney is criminal.

See what you Reich Wing Dunces dont want to talk about is the reason BUSH only commuted his sentence NOW instead of just pardoning him outright like he all but said he will do later is because Bush wants to help libby obstyruct justice further and throw a wrench in the Plame lawsuit by giving Libby and excuse to not have to testify in that case..........see if his criminal appeal is still ongoing he can Claim he cant testify because it would incriminate him in the criminal appeal.

You and your Neo Con masters are so transparent I read you like a book Volt!

    ReplyDelete
  154. Bush commuted Libby's sentence for 2 simple reasons.

    A. He was afraid Libby would crack in prison, and talk.

    B. He knew if he pardoned him, he'd lose his 5th ammendment protection and Congress could force him to talk.

The only way to be sure Libby won't talk is to commute the sentence. That way he still retains his 5th ammendment privileges in case Congress subpoena's him as a private citizen, and he doesn't risk cracking in jail.

It was a slick move to be sure, but one thats likely going to cost him.

  155. Only in Bush's dream of a reichwing Amerika could THIS happen;

    Woman jailed for 'neglected' lawn

A 70-year-old US woman has been left bruised and bloody after an unexpected clash with police who came to arrest her because her lawn was dry and brown.

Trouble flared when Utah pensioner Betty Perry, 70, refused to give her name to an officer trying to caution her for not watering her lawn.

She says the officer hit her with handcuffs, cutting her nose, although police insist she slipped and fell.

Ms Perry said she was "distraught" after the incident.

He's just trying to cover his tracks, as far as I'm concerned
    Betty Perry

She denied that she was resisting arrest, maintaining that she turned to go inside to call her son to fix the confusing dispute.

"I tried to sit down and get away from him," she told Utah newspaper the Daily Herald.

"I don't know what he's doing. I said: 'What are you doing?' And he hit me with those handcuffs in my face," she said.

"He's just trying to cover his tracks, as far as I'm concerned."

    Set free

The officer had judged that Ms Perry's "sadly neglected and dying landscape" breached an Orem city guideline and was attempting to issue a formal caution when the 70-year-old was injured.

She was treated in a local hospital for the cut to her nose and for other bruises before being taken to jail.

But she was let go when police realised there were "other ways" of finding out her identity without taking her to jail, a police spokesman said.

The arresting officer has not been named but has been placed on administrative leave, he added.

Ms Perry, who says she has never had a run-in with police in the past, has been offered help by local church leaders to clean up her garden.

"I'm very distraught over all this," she said.

"I can't believe this happened. Do you ever just wish you could start your day over and it would all be different?"

Another happy happy day in Bushland.....

Voltron has spouted the same basic argument again and again. Each time someone has taken the time to refute him. The points were made. He is starting a round. However, unlike "Row Row Row Your Boat", this round escalates.

We see it in the Middle East - an eye for an eye. Dr. Martin Luther King once said, "The reason I can't follow the old eye-for-an-eye philosophy is that it ends up leaving everyone blind. Somebody must have sense and somebody must have religion. I remember some years ago, my brother and I were driving from Atlanta to Chattanooga, Tennessee. And for some reason the drivers that night were very discourteous or they were forgetting to dim their lights - And finally A.D. looked over at me and he said, 'I'm tired of this now, and the next car that comes by here and refuses to dim the lights, I'm going to refuse to dim mine.' I said, 'Wait a minute, don't do that. Somebody has to have some sense on this highway.'"

We sometimes reach that point of diminishing return.

On the other hand. As much as I can offer my two cents, I would never suppose to tell anyone they have to follow my lead. I think that's the good part of being a liberal. We can disagree all the time but it still comes down to respecting the right of the other to say whatever they want, whenever they want.

I'm a Democrat, I don't belong to an organized party.

  197. Miami Herald:

Reservist fighting his fifth war call-up.

Erik Botta believes he's done right by his country.
Days after 9/11, as a young Army reservist, he volunteered to go to war. He was soon in Afghanistan.

The next year, he was sent out again, this time to Iraq, part of a Special Operations team.

In the next two years, he was sent to Iraq again. And again.

He thought he was done. But now, the Army wants Sgt. Botta one more time.

The 26-year-old Port St. Lucie man has been ordered to report to Fort Jackson, S.C., on July 15 for his fifth deployment. And that has compelled Botta, a first-generation American who counts himself a quiet patriot, to do something he never thought he'd do: sue the Army.

''I'm proud of my service,'' he said. ``I never wanted it to end like this.''

Nearly seven years into his eight-year commitment to the reserves, the personal costs are higher for Botta. He could lose his home. His job at Sikorsky, working on the Black Hawk military helicopter, could be on the line. He's halfway to his electrical engineering degree, planning a career in defense work, but his professors say he'll suffer a significant setback if he is deployed. He doesn't mention the danger another deployment would bring, but his wife and parents do.

In a lawsuit he expects to file this week in federal court in Florida, Botta says he will ask for an exemption or delay so that he can complete his engineering studies. He will also ask the court to prevent the Army from requiring him to report for duty until the legal questions are settled.

His attorney, Mark Waple -- a West Point graduate and former military judge advocate who practices in Fayetteville, N.C. -- says Botta's case shows that the Army is inconsistent in its decisions when selecting reservists for involuntary mobilization, over and over.

''This is an arbitrary decision by the Army Human Resources Command with no rational basis,'' Waple said.

    THE CONSEQUENCES

Deployment now would mean that he could no longer afford his house -- his wife would probably have to move in with her parents. Plans to start a family would be on hold. He would probably have to repeat some engineering courses after his return, and he might even lose the job he just landed about a month ago. Previously, he worked at Pratt & Whitney in the Joint Strike Fighter and Raptor engine programs.

''This is no peace protester,'' Waple said. ``I wouldn't have touched this case with a 10-foot pole if it was. He's put the boots on and been in combat.''

Although Botta knew there was a risk that he would be called to duty again, he assumed that it was very slight, given his four combat deployments, pursuit of an engineering degree and employment with military contractors, he said.

''The world pretty much stopped when I got the notice,'' said Botta, weighing each word. ``I've sacrificed a lot for the military. I didn't want to end with litigation, but I feel I've done my service to my country. I've done what I signed up for in more ways than one.''

The Army doesn't agree. It turned down one appeal, with another pending but unofficially denied.
