OUT OF IRAQ NOW! and REPORT FROM INSIDE ISRAEL

Quick Report from the Israeli Peace Front

The peace movement in Israel has pulled out all stops to end this mad war. Lots of groups are active, and we had a big joint demonstration last night - at least 5,000 people (though the media reported 2,500). Marching through the streets of Tel Aviv with signs, "End the War", "End the Occupation" felt like a relief after the roar of pro-war-talk on all the media.

HERE IS a short note from Hannah Safran of the Haifa vigil of Women in Black. The women were shelled during the vigil, but they returned to complete it. Later that day, under the newly formed "Women Against War", they again left their homes to protest.

" Hi gila, how are you? we are having a terrible day today. while we were demonstrating at our regular Women in Black square (30-40 people in all), we were bombed on both sides. it felt like being targeted from close. we had to abandon the vigil and look for shelter. we came back 20 min. later and completed the vigil on time. As we were traveling home, there was a second attack and we had to stop the car and look for shelter. When we came home we opened the newspaper to read letters of women from Lebanon. The devastation is horrific. Has Israel gone crazy or have we not noticed what a mad country we live in? It is 5:45 p.m. now and we had two attacks since then. I am off to our daily demonstration of Women Against War in front of the Foreign Office and all the foreign press. We will not be silenced. War must be stopped now. Every min. counts as people's lives are in danger. do all you can to stop this madness. only someone from outside can put pressure on Israel to stop. i have to hurry. be well and let's pray for better days.
love, hannah
Please continue to voice your protest throughout the world.

'Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely' - Lord Acton

A REPUBLICAN senator has now confirmed that things in Iraq are worse than we were "led to believe." This implies that we were MISLED DELIBERATELY. We must bring our troops home and save their lives.

Bush is operating like an unconscious madman. Our very presence on Muslim soil is the reason there is non-stop violence and terrorism there. What on earth are we doing there? We must remove ourselves from the equation. Pride is not a virtue. Whatever Bush's reasons for being there (which obviously weren't the reasons he told us initially) it's time to come home. His lies have been uncovered, and like the alcoholic who has been beaten by the bottle — it's time to surrender to a higher power, God. Providence will move for us when we do the RIGHT THING. No matter how many lies Bush tells himself about how "patriotic" it is to be at war in Iraq, THE TRUTH IS NOT WITH HIM. HE IS LYING TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE AND TO HIMSELF. It's time to humble ourselves and come home. Great men have humility. Arrogant ones do not. Bush must not believe in God because he thinks he himself has to control everything; he doesn't trust God enough to let the Iraqi people fix themselves. We must "let go and let God."

James Madison wrote in Federalist Paper No. 47:

The accumulation of all powers legislative, executive and judiciary in the same hands, whether of one, a few or many...may justly be pronounced the very definition of tyranny.

That extraordinary powers have, under Bush, been accumulated in the "same hands" is now undeniable. For the first time in more than thirty years, and to a greater extent than even then, our constitutional form of government is in jeopardy.

Coulter Dropped by 'Augusta Chronicle' Over 'Stridency'

"But biting commentary is one thing. A personal attack is another -- such as when she slammed several 9-11 widows for backing Democrats and allegedly milking the tragedy for political purposes. That charge alone isn't necessarily unfair, but to suggest they were 'enjoying' their husbands' deaths and calling them 'witches' -- well, that's where stridency crosses a line.

  2. The horror of Saddam’s mass graves

Jews were victims of Nazi oppression and ethnic cleansing the result of which was the extermination of over five million Jews. By perpetrating such a heinous crime Hitler engraved his name in history as one of the most notorious criminals who immersed himself in the blood of innocent people... We are not going to dispute that. In fact, we, more than anybody can fully grasp the agony of the holocaust.

A body recovered from a mass grave in Iraq

We have had a first hand experience with the very same horrors. Freshly dug mass graves bare witness to the plight of the Shias. They have been subjected to a systematic, state-sponsored persecution and murder. Iraq has once again revived those shocking memories. When Iraqi refugees return to their homeland, they no longer have hope of finding their loved ones. Any such hope has disappeared except for a very few hopefuls who dread the bitter reality of loss. The only hope that still exists in the hearts of expatriates is finding the burial site of their relatives. Perhaps also some identifiable remains.

The search for those remains has become a daily chore for thousands of Iraqis today. New mass graves are discovered almost on a daily basis. Some sites contain tens of thousands of bodies, while some are just too swarming with human remains littered on top of each other that no one bothers to keep a head count. The bare bones, broken skulls, cuffed hands and scraps of clothing tell a horrifying story. Many skeletons belong to women, some even to young children. The scene is nothing short of horrendous, and the sorrow of loved ones is utterly inexpressible.

Every body has a story to tell. Every person had relatives, parents, and a family that was later forced to pay for the bullets used to kill him when a bill was dispatched to every household. The state was not going to pay for his punishment. The obligatory payment was probably the hardest thing to do.

Yet those who received confirmation of their loved one's death were the lucky ones. Hundreds of thousands of wives, husbands, parents, and children never had any type of emotional closure. Until, that is, the infamous incarceration compounds were emptied, Ba'ath party records were checked, and finally mass graves were excavated.

Mass graves have been found in almost every major province. Some of them are group specific. (One has been found to house Dawa party members and another one for Islamic Action Organization adherents) Some are age specific. Even the children were not spared. There is no need to go into detailed descriptions of the sites and relate stories of those lucky few who fled only to tell almost unbelievable tales. The real problem lies in the fact that such stories are becoming mundane and have lost their position as the number one news story, having been breaking news items just a few days after the war.

For a third of a century, the Shia people of Iraq have been suffering in the confines of their own Holy Land. They have been subject to the rule of the minority, namely the Sunnis. It is no secret that Saddam and his cohorts subscribe to the Sunni sect.

On the outskirts of Tikrit is a little village named Al-Awjah, (which not surprisingly translates as The Twisted) sparsely populated and neglected for hundreds of years by the rest of the province. Saddam was born in that village in 1937 to a typical Sunni family.

It was Saddam’s rise that paved the way for his venomous sectarian hatred to be materialized. The Shias were subjected to ethnic cleansing of an unsurpassed scale. For them the punishment for political crimes started with execution and ended with a lifetime of anguish under the brutal torture apparatus of Saddam’s notorious penitentiaries. The list goes on to brutalities of detention without trial, torture, and as the west has now come to discover; mass executions and burials.

Official Iraqi documents recovered after the fall of Saddam regime suggest a staggering 5 million executions were made during Ba'ath era alone. Over 10 million were also imprisoned. They were all Shias save a small percentage of Kurds. It is also very interesting to note that after the 1991 Shia uprising over 300,000 were killed or captured never to be seen again, but there were no injured.

This is very odd considering the logical fact that wars result in many more injuries than deaths. Under Saddam, however, people were either killed instantly or killed in mass executions soon after. With slogans such as ‘After today no more Shias’ the army had advanced into the city of Karbala. The killed were killed, the captured were killed, and the injured were killed as well. No one was spared.

Those executed by the Saddam regime were brutally murdered because they stood for an agenda, an agenda to have peace and exercise their right to freedom of religion. Now they themselves have become an agenda. We must not forget the sacrifices made by Iraqis because although liberation was eventually accomplished at the hands of the Coalition forces, they were only sowing the seeds. The Shias of Iraq paid a very dear price for its liberation, which is why their memory must be upheld at any price.

We must endeavor to permanently imprint the memory of those killed by Saddam and his regime in the hearts and minds of generations to come in order to prevent such human catastrophes from being repeated. Memorial structures and memorial museums must be erected in every major city in Iraqis well as every capital city in the western world. Names of the victims must be placed on walls lest they be forgotten.

Committees must be set up to promote the Iraqi calamity all over the world in an effort to defend the rights of the Shias in general. Their memory should be preserved to help other Shias suffering persecution elsewhere in the world. In many parts of the world Shias are prevented from practicing their rituals. Their books are banned. Their sacred sites are either demolished or inaccessible.

Saudi Arabia is one such country where it is a crime to be identified as a Shia. Although unofficial figures put their number at around 30 per cent of the total population, Shias do not have any such figures. In some cities (such as Medina) Shias conceal their faith to such an extent that even their immediate family members do not know about them. In such an atmosphere that the likes of Bin Laden were nurtured, Shias are seen as villains even before Americans.

The western world has only recently discovered the terrifying face of Wahhabi terrorism at the hands of Al-Qaeda. We, however, have had to deal with their bitter hatred for many years in Afghanistan (under the Taliban), Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and elsewhere. Even with the number of Shias around the world approaching 400 million, the Shia faith remains not only unrecognized by many countries but is officially banned in many others.

Despite all of that it is only today that the plight of the Shias is being heard. They have been desperately crying out for help for over 30 years to no avail, but it is only after the fall of Baghdad that facts are being revealed about the nature of Saddam’s vicious apparatus. We have only recently come to discover — the hard way — that these are the remnants of a truly despotic regime. It took 30 years of pain and suffering along with millions of deaths in Iraq alone, but as the old saying goes: “Better late than never”. The long standing persecution of the Shias must now come to an end.

  4. Well TT since you cut and pasted somebody elses opinion about history, how about some very current events...evemnts which are much more a danger to the US in what horrible damage it could produce,

and for VOLTAIRE it is a heavy water reactor, the one which is the most dangerous for poliferation danger..

BTW you mooks keep screaming about how bad the muslims are...and how Israel is in danger and if hezbollah is allowed to exist it spells doom,

    BUT you morons don't have a word to say about;

Pakistan has begun building what independent analysts say is a powerful new reactor for producing plutonium, a move that, if verified, would signal a major expansion of the country's nuclear weapons capabilities and a potential new escalation in the region's arms race.

Satellite photos of Pakistan's Khushab nuclear site show what appears to be a partially completed heavy-water reactor capable of producing enough plutonium for 40 to 50 nuclear weapons a year, a 20-fold increase from Pakistan's current capabilities, according to a technical assessment by Washington-based nuclear experts.

The construction site is adjacent to Pakistan's only plutonium production reactor, a modest, 50-megawatt unit that began operating in 1998. By contrast, the dimensions of the new reactor suggest a capacity of 1,000 megawatts or more, according to the analysis by the Institute for Science and International Security. Pakistan is believed to have 30 to 50 uranium warheads, which tend to be heavier and more difficult than plutonium warheads to mount on missiles.

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/07/23/AR2006072300737.html

But you will point out Pakistan is our friend, georgie said so,

    REALLY?

Pakistan was instramental in aiding the Taliban during their rise to power the first time, and their nuclear weapons program and it's chief scientist (A Q KAHN) is directally responsible the poliferation of weapons designs and technology through out the muslim world...

In January 2004, he confessed to having been involved in a clandestine international network of nuclear weapons technology proliferation from Pakistan to Libya, Iran and North Korea. On February 5, 2004, the President of Pakistan, General Pervez Musharraf, announced that he had pardoned Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan.

    from wiki

lets see he gave nuclear tech and knowledge to the two countries that Bush claims are the most dangerous to the US and Musharraf pardons him, and bush thinks they are our friends?

And when Osama escaped where do ya mooks think he went to...Disney world?

And the ISI of Pakistan is directally aiding the Taliban in their re-emergeance...this year according to Karzai...

Karzai himself has repeatedly insisted to Blair and Bush that the Taliban are once again receiving training from Pakistani military intelligence, ISI, which was behind the creation of the movement in the 1990s.

Foreign journalists have long been barred from going to Quetta, the Pakistani border city, where local people report that the Taliban stroll in the streets. “If you British really wanted to end insecurity in Helmand you would do something about Pakistan,” a white-bearded man insisted last week to Knaggs. “The fact that you don’t makes us think you are not interested in solving the problem.”

    http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2092-2261727_2,00.html

And Musharraf is one shot to the head from being replaced by the same people who aid Osama and Mullah Omar right now, and the reactor will make enough plutonium to make 50 warheads a year

"Such a reactor could produce over 200 kilograms of weapons-grade plutonium per year, assuming it operates at full power a modest 220 days per year," it says. "At 4 to 5 kilograms of plutonium per weapon, this stock would allow the production of over 40 to 50 nuclear weapons a year."

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/07/23/AR2006072300737_2.html

warheads which can be placed on the top of a missle, which the North Koreans can not right now because a uranium based weapon ie not correct for such an application.... but your idiot in chief keeps sayiny Iran is the only real nuclear danger in the middle-east,

a good take on this very real danger that does not fit in GOP talkinh points..

If independent experts are aware of this development, you can be assured that the Bush administration and the CIA are, as well. Yet, we have heard little if anything, from our government about what I consider to be the most dangerous development to occur in the entire world over the past several years. Far more dangerous than the violence in Iraq or Israel's invasion of Lebanon, and light year's more dangerous than Iran's miniscule nuclear program.

    http://www.boomantribune.com/story/2006/7/24/105148/253

BUT TT FF VOLT and of course dusty make jokes because this shows that BUSH DOES NOT GIVE A DAMN about our security otherwise he would have gone after the MOST dangerous and illegally operating nuclear program in the middle east for years instead of inventing a reason for attacking Iraq....

Voltaire I'm sure you can read the words...not just what most Muslims say they really mean..instead of your particular twist....David Koresh claimed he was a christian...but it would be dishonest all Christians who disagrees with him are BAD Christians.....which YOU do to Muslims because you claim a meaning for the message of the Quran..which your reading an english translation instead of an actual text in it's original language, and translations do change meanings which worfeus has demonstrated in the translations of the Bible when it was translated from Hebrew to Greek to latin to english...

By christian theology christ is the only person born with out sin....

You pick and choose from a translated text, written in a different language from your own, which you did not grow up reading.

You began to read after 9-11 thus your opinion is slanted, thus your resultds would be the same........

  41. So that there will be no confusion, I have set the passages from Islam's scripture in bold-faced type . When quoting from the Qur'an and Hadith, I have elected to use a blended translation. No language transfers perfectly—one word to another. Five of my twelve translations of the Qur'an were combined to create the most accurate conveyance of the message possible. However, the writing quality is so poor, the proofreaders of this manuscript suggested that I help Allah and Muhammad out by cleaning up their grammar, punctuation, and verbosity. So for clarity and readability, I have trimmed their unruly word patterns and meaningless repetitions, being careful not to alter the meaning or message of any passage. Insertions within parenthesis (like this) were added by the Arabic translators to fill in missing words or to clarify the text. Insertions within brackets [like this] represent my observations.

  43. My quest to understand Islam began on the morning of September 11th 2001. I wanted to know why Muslim militants were killing us. So I went off to Ground Zero for Islamic terror—Israel. The West Bank is home to more suicide bombers per capita than anywhere else on earth. I arranged to meet with the terrorists themselves. I asked members of al-Qaeda, Islamic Jihad, al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigade, and Hamas why they were killing us. They said, “Islam. We are following Muhammad's orders.” That adventure is recounted in Tea With Terrorists . It covers a wide range of material and serves as a companion volume, connecting fundamental Islam to terrorism. Prophet of Doom focuses strictly on what the Islamic scriptures have to say.

    -Johnny Moomeister

Read the Prophet of Doom. You can order it or read it on line for free. It is a complete annotated translation of the quran -- more detail than you will proly be able to finish. The quran is very repetitive; it says over and over again that Jews are to be scorned and killed. The quran is like the Muslim Mein Kampf. Both tomes even use the term "struggle" as in struggle to oppress Jews.

Yeah clippy. Always dismiss the source.

Anyone can also visit Faith Freedom a web site run by Ali Sina who was raised as a Muslim, but became apostate when he discovered his humanity.

The facts are the same. Sina routinely has debates with every imaginable Islamic mullah and imam and shuts them down completely.

You can also visit Ask The Imam a contemporary Q & A with Muslim authorities. A sample:

Q: As for the punishment of stoning a person to death, are we as Muslims supposed to also follow the rule of Jesus whom said "Only those of you who are sinless may cast the first stone". Or can someone who has sinned stone another person to death?

A: The Bible is replete with additions and inconsistencies. We are compelled to adhere to the Qur’aan and Hadith as our source of guidance and not the abrogated teachings of Eesa (Alayhis salaam).

Every human being except the Ambiyaa (Alayhis salaam) is a sinner. If we apply the aforementioned principle to the punishment of stoning, the penal code of Islam will fall apart. In short, sinners can also stone adulteress to dead provided the punishment is carried out within the Islamic framework of the penal code.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Okay, I'm back! Sorry about that.

    Voltaire,

It's not really known whether or not Mohammad wrote the whole Koran, but he was used as a vessel to write most of it by Allah (kind of like how Jesus was the vessel to spread the word of God). I think you pointed out that in addition to Mohammad writing, there were also some references by other prophets such as Abraham included in the Koran.

The Jews were the original Infidels because they had all the money and control during Mohammad's time...and Jews were almost "Romanesque" in their approach to citizens of the day. Today, Americans are the Infidels because we have all the money and control and because we support the Jews.

All the research that I've done says that it was the 5th century that Mohammad lived but I could very well be wrong.

I actually find Mohammad to be very intriquing because his life is well documented, unlike Jesus' (Jesus was born and then there isn't much about him until his 30's), and he was standing up for his people by writing what he wrote. It's no different than today....book writers for the most part reflect today's views.

Also, let's not forget that Christians today say that only Christians go to Heaven and they are in the process right now of trying to get rid of Muslims. To be a Christian doesn't mean to be a good human in all cases. Muslims also have their bad apples too. The best way to get to the root of the problem is to look at the root! lol

The whole mess that is happening now stems from the past but there are a lot of current players too. The Bush Admin (PNACers, AIPAC, and Likkud) are part of it, so blaming the Muslims for the problems of the Earth is silly.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Hitler was a Christian let's not forget! So wasn't Ted Bundy, David Koresh, the BTK killer, and many others! To say that Muslims are the only sect of people who commit atrocities is really unfair. I can guarantee you that if we were to add up all the murders in our country from last year and then added up all the murders by Muslims across the planet, I bet our country would have the most!

Blaming the Muslims is childish and it avoids the real argument: why are they angry at us?

Yes I've known some fine Muslim folks myself. I worked with an outgoing young Muslim lady, attended her wedding and ate her wonderful Indian food; I partied with her and her husband; they were very cool folks; they did not drink which was fine.

However they were essentially Westerners; they had totally assimilated into Western culture. They didn't do the annoying prayer thing and she was not covered.

The facts remain. It is possible to be a good person if one embraces the Golden Rule, regardless of his religion. However, by understanding Islam and the manner in which its practitioners are forced to follow it to the letter when in dar al Islam, we must conclude that such good people are being bad Muslims.

It is essential that Muslims become tolerant of other religions and less sensitive to criticism of their own.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Can we all agree that our CIA has for years behind the scenes done things in Muslim countries that Americans don't know about and the Muslim and Arabs do? Didn't we have death squads trained by our CIA to kill nuns in South America? Don't you think that America has to take some blame in all of this? I think so. I think as a country, especially after the horror we witnessed on 9/11, needs to start looking deep within itself and start making good with the world. This doesn't mean that our country hasn't done some great things over the years, but I think we've done some stuff that has inflamed people against us. Until we start treating those people with respect it is never going to end. As a mother, I view my country almost as my child. When it is being good, I revel in it, but when it is being naughty or bad, I want it to know the mistake it has made, correct it, and learn from it.

Kay, Muslims have been warring and killing for centuries. Sometimes when we were there, sometimes when we weren't. When we're not they simply kill each other.

Christianity has had it's violent and very un-christian times. Islam is still having them, only it's not un-islamic, it is the truth of the religion.

Even IF you believe Bush has evil intent on doing this, Islam is still MUCH MUCH worse.

  137. Voltaire no offense to you or anyone, but this is why I don't hold myself to any religious view. I find that religion and religious views tends to be too rigid and people start behaving weirdly and in some cases...violently. You're right though, Islam does have quite a history but so doesn't Christianity and all of it's sects! All wars tend to be religious or tribal and it makes my skin crawl.

Like I said on another post, I tend to be more "Pagan" in my beliefs because if I chose the sun or the birds outside to my "God" on a particular day, it feels good. The sun doesn't tell me what to think or what to believe and neither do the birds! I can just revel in their beauty and be thankful I'm alive.

Very simplistic view I have on this, but it's how I feel and it works for me.

  145. That's right Lydia! We mothers have to stick together on this. Our country is an incredible one but that doesn't mean the leaders of it at anytime can abuse it or it's reputation!

The Bush Crime Family (I use that description a lot too!) has quite the cheering section when it comes to the media, doesn't it? I've never been so furious than after 9/11 when the media (all media, I may add) just didn't ever question what happened. They waved their pom poms during the drum up to the immoral Iraq war and they really haven't wavered too far from that either. Keith Olberman's Countdown is pretty much the only news program that asks real questions, other than that, it's all propaganda!

    Makes me furious.

It is disingenuous to attempt to confuse criminals who commit crimes in the name of religion, with the actual teachings of the religion.

There is absolutely no support in the New Testament for the Spanish Inquisition, lynchings, or witch trials.

Besides this is largely irrelevant since very few Christians today take every word of the Bible literally.

The opposite is true of Islam. The quran is brimming with hatred, misogyny and encitement to violence and Muslims are required to take it literally as Allah has perfected it.

And we were in Damhan for several weeks. Riyadh for the same..I even went to the gold market to buy some gifts for the misses, but no cut throating occured, however they did want money,

Kuwait city well they treated me quite well and I don't think they were considering killing us right after we evicted the Iraqi Army....

    Bush only broke 1 commandment.

    Which one this one?

Now when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, they assembled together. 22:35 And one of them, an expert in religious law, asked him a question to test him: 22:36 “Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?” 22:37 Jesus said to him, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 22:38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 22:39

or this one? thaty is it isn't it?

The second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 22:40 All the law and the prophets depend on these two commandments.”

It is possible to believe in either evolution or creationism and be a good Christian. The Pope has already endorsed the Big Bang Theory (must stop myself here...must stop).

However, for those whose religion is secular humanism, it is obvious that their religion doesn't work without strict belief in evolution.

The ACLU libs therefore, want to forbid any mention of religion in education or any other public place.

For example, the City of San Diego is being sued for millions because they won't remove a tiny cross from a war memorial.

  169. Thou Shalt Not Kill: Bush when Governor of Texas sent a record number of people to their deaths and in some cases there was DNA evidence to back up their innocence, but Bush said he agreed with the lower court and sent them to their deaths anyways. He also illegally invaded a sovereign nation and knew full well that people would die for his fake war based on fake evidence!

Thou Shalt Not Use False Witnesses: Bush is a liar and will always be a liar. The man can't say a paragraph without a lie or a deceit in it.

Thou Shalt Observe the Sabbath: Do we ever see Bush leaving a church on Sundays (during the 1990's, Hillary & Bill were always taped coming out of church on Meet the Press at the end of the program) unless it's a holiday or some other moment where he has to go? Also, the man vacations constantly! He's in constant "day off from work" mode!

Thou Shalt Not Steal: in Bush's past, he had insider trading charges against him, but because of his Dad using "False Witnesses", he got the charges dropped. He once stole a wreath when he was at Yale. Also....he started a war that has lined his, his family, and his friends pockets! All the money has been illegally obtained by either charging our country for work done when it has not been or by creating false entities to get paid. Thieves....every last one of them!

Thou Shalt Honor Thy Mother & They Father: Well, he honors his mother because he is just like her...Spawn of the Devil. (They're two peas in a pod!) Bush and his father have always had a very rocky relationship, even though Bush Sr. has come to Bush's rescuse numerous times in the past. Since the moment he was given the presidency in January 2001, Bush has done everything OPPOSITE of what his father did when he was president to appease him. Today, their relationship is even more frail.
