Lydia the repugs are running scared because instead of them getting a rapture from God for their efforts, he is allowing them to be outed as the fooles they are, and the more people find out the worse it looks for the repugs...and they know if they ever loose control over either house in DC the committees will start doing exactally what the constitution said they should do...OVERSIGHT...and oversight to a repug is like daylight to a vampire, they just can't stand it, or survive it.

  3. The reason why the neocons in Washington want to win so badly is because they've done so much illegal stuff against Americans behind our backs that they don't want anyone to find out. This is why some of them have a hard time with the surveillance program because they know they don't want to be spied on by a democrat president. Can you imagine what we would find out? Ewwwwwwww.

Cliff May: National Review Bloggers Are ‘Fighting a War’ That Is ‘Equally Consequential’ To U.S. Troops in Combat

On Friday, the National Review’s Katherine Jean Lopez wrote a rather innocuous review of the new Oliver Stone movie, World Trade Center. Lopez wrote the movie was “about why we fight.”

Someone emailed Lopez, objecting to the line “it’s about why we fight,” and noting that “you do not fight - you never have and, hopefully, never will have to. You are not a member of any of the branches of the armed forces, nor a reservist.” Lopez was fairly contrite, responding, “To anyone reading from Iraq, Afghanistan, or otherwise serve in our military, let me clarify: I don’t fight. Thank you for serving so we may go about our days of blogging.”

But Cliff May, another National Review blogger and prominent right-wing pundit, objected. May insisted that Lopez, by blogging for the National Review was “fighting a war” and this war was “equally consequential” with the wars that are fought by the U.S. military. An excerpt:

There is a war of arms. And there is a war of ideas. They are not just inter-related, they are interdependent. They are equally consequential.

…Let’s take just one example: In the 1930s, Churchill fought a war of ideas. He tried to warn the world about Hitler; tried to warn Europe and America that Hitler’s hatred and ambition had to be checked. But most people did not listen. Churchill’s ideas did not prevail. They called Churchill a “war monger.”

…So yes, Kathryn, you are fighting a war. And your e-mailer is ignorant about how wars are fought, about how wars are won and lost, and about the way the world actually works.

To be fair, there is some truth in what May is saying. Arguments about ideas can have real consequences. But blogging on the National Review (or ThinkProgress, for that matter) is not the equivalent of Churchill warning the world about Hitler. And blogging is not “equally consequential” to the wars fought by members of the United States military, who put their lives at risk every day.

  20. Al-Qaida was not in Iraq prior to Bush invading. In fact, it was al-Zarqawi that the Bush Cartel let cross the border into Iraq way before the war started and used this guy as a way to tell the American people that al-Qaida was there! Another lie! You really think Saddam wanted terrorist groups in his country? Why do you think the country was divided into 3 areas? To keep the peace for the most part. He despised the terrorist groups. Osama tried for years to set up shop in Iraq, however, but of course Saddam wouldn't let the group in......but Bush did! Oh yes, the oil fields were the first to be defended and he let the borders remain wide open. Had Bush listened to the Generals in the beginning who wanted to put 300-500,000 troops on the ground to secure the country quick after the initial invasion, Iraq might be a very secure country right now, but he didn't. Bush and the PNAC members of his Cartel WANTED THE CHAOS. Because with the chaos, they could steal and pilfer (which they did and are still doing), and because of the constant war...Bush could use it to remind the American people that we are needed there! It's all propaganda and criminal.

Now we find out that Bush is sending Napalm-like bombs to Israel and Israel is using them. Can you say war crimes? I can! Bush has committed so many, it's no wonder he took our country off the ICC back in May of 2001. He knew exactly what the future was going to hold because he and his minions hashed it all out in the 1990s.

    ReplyDelete
  23. TallTexan, most of the Diebold machines used in the last election have been tested and retested since that time and every single one of them has been proven to be a one-sided machine! In one case, 9 people (I think they were on the town councel) decided to do a mock vote for either John Kerry or for Bush. They voted using the machines and after the votes were tallied 8 of the votes went to Bush and all nine had previously agreed to vote for Kerry! On the screen, their vote tallied but when it came to count......the computer switched the votes.

Did you know that not one mistake in the last election went in Kerry's favor? Doesn't that seem odd?

This is why Diebold doesn't want to have a paper receipt. They're working for the repugs and know that the only way for them to win is to cheat and the best way to cheat is to give the voter the "confidence" on the surface that they voted for Kerry, but inside the computer, it's doing something totally different and the voter has no idea. Criminal.

    Diebold Election Systems

Diebold Election Systems, a subsidiary of Diebold that accounts for 2.4% of its gross revenue, has entered the business of creating electronic voting terminals and solutions for government entities. Diebold entered this industry in 2001 by purchasing the assets of Global Election Systems which had been selling election equipment since 1991.

which has a few questions they do not like to answer:

In December 2005, Diebold's CEO Wally O'Dell left the company following reports that the company was facing securities fraud litigation surrounding charges of insider trading. His replacement, Thomas Swidarski, was reported to have given the maximum allowable $2000 contribution to George W. Bush's campaign despite Diebold having instituted a corporate policy disallowing involvement in political campaigns by senior executives, instituted after O'Dell had written, "I am committed to helping Ohio deliver its electoral votes to the president next year," in a fund-raising letter to Republicans dated August 13, 2003.

Ever wonder why so many of Bush's clowns are in the places where questions of a fair election arisesw, Like Ken Blackwell in Ohio, sec of state of Ohio, and at the same time chairman of Bush's re-election campaign,

    where did that occur before?

When Bush says, "You're doing a heck of a job!" you can pretty much believe that the person he is saying that to is a traitor. When Bush says he is 'spreading democracy' we all know the lunatic is saying he doesn't want that. When Bush says that 'people fear democracy' what he is really saying is that he and his corporate swines hate the voice of the people and don't want the citizens of the country to be in control.

That's what Bush is saying. He uses Orwellian Speak where he labels things with nice titles but he always means the opposite!

He didn't really because neither government can control their country, in fact the Iraqi government must live inside the green zone and have little actual control, thus no real democracy exists, however the Iraqi people were allowed to got to the polls to vote , too bad the voting is not a democracy..hell even Saddam and Castro did that, but unlike a real democracy both Afghanistan and Iraq have no functioning grass roots support, outside the safe zones protected by outside troops

In one case, it was announced that Osama was going to attack the building and the building was cleared out and the programs were changed then too.

Strapped for Money, Army Extends Cutbacks
    Associated Press | July 21, 2006
WASHINGTON - The Army, bearing most of the cost for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, said Thursday its money crunch has gotten so bad it is clamping down on spending for travel, civilian hiring and other expenses not essential to the war mission.

A statement outlining the cutbacks did not say how much money the Army expects to save, but senior officials have said the cost of replacing worn equipment in Iraq and Afghanistan is rising at a quickening pace.

Gen. Peter Schoomaker, the Army chief of staff, said last week that in 2004 it cost $4 billion to repair or replace war equipment, but now it has reached $12 billion to $13 billion. "And in my view, we will continue to see this escalate," he said, adding that the Army is using up equipment at four times the rate for which it was designed.

Schoomaker traced the problem's origin to entering the Iraq war in 2003 with a $56 billion shortfall in equipment. The Army managed the situation by rotating in fresh units while keeping the same equipment in Iraq. Over time, he said, the equipment has worn out without sufficient investment in replacements.

The Army chief said there is too little money available to keep up with equipment repairs. He said the Army's five major repair depots are operating at only 50 percent of capacity, resulting in a backlog of 1,000 Humvee utility vehicles awaiting attention at the Red River Army Depot in Texas and 500 tanks at a depot in Alabama.

  47. More about how much the rubberstamp congress supports those who are fighting for their freedoms,

About 100,000 of the approximately 127,000 U.S. troops in Iraq are Army. Most of the rest are Marines.

When Congress took longer than the Pentagon expected to approve an emergency spending bill for war costs last spring, the Army imposed temporary spending cutbacks that it expected to lift once the extra money was approved.

In its announcement Thursday, the Army said it has decided to extend most of those cutbacks until the end of the budget year on Sept. 30. Among the reasons cited: the high costs of war and an expectation that Congress may approve less money for the Army in the 2007 budget than the White House requested.

The Army said it will limit its purchase of supplies to those that are deemed critical to war requirements; cancel or postpone all nonessential travel; stop the shipment of goods unless they are needed for deployed or deploying troops; freeze the hiring of new civilians; restrict use of government credit cards; freeze all new contract awards, and release temporary employees and some service-contract workers.

Meanwhile, Army officials traveled to Capitol Hill this week to urge members of Congress not to slash funding for aircraft programs.

  49. Brig. Gen. Stephen D. Mundt told reporters that congressional plans to cut about $90 million from the Armed Reconnaissance Helicopter program and eliminate all $109 million for the development of a new cargo aircraft would trigger as much as a two-year delay and increase the overall cost of both programs.

Military analyst Dan Goure of the Lexington Institute said cutting nearly a third of the $275 million requested for the helicopter is unwarranted because it is a low-risk program that will provide a much-needed replacement for the Army's aging fleet of Kiowa Warriors.

"It makes no sense to delay this program," Goure said. "It is a risk to the Soldiers, and it poses additional costs on the Army at a time when it's already struggling."

The cargo plane, said Mundt, would be able to take off and land on much smaller runways, and would give the Army and Air Force access to thousands of airfields around the world that existing cargo aircraft cannot use. They include almost 30 additional airfields in Iraq, and 10 more in Afghanistan, he said.

“If either India or Pakistan starts increasing its nuclear arsenal, the other side will respond in kind; and the Bush Administration’s proposed nuclear deal with India is making that much more likely,” he complained.

Mr Markey, sent a letter to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice demanding the release of a report on all foreign persons known to be engaging in proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. He cited rumours that the State Department is withholding the document from Congress because its contents would embarrass the Bush administration while it is pushing for final passage of the India deal.

“It would be absolutely unacceptable if the State Department purposefully withheld information relating to Indian entities engaged in proliferation of weapons of mass destruction until after the Congress considers the U.S.-India nuclear agreement,” Mr. Markey said.

  78. The repugs are running from bush but ain't running on much at all....

Republicans Running From Bush (Part 1, Updated):
So, so, so Senator John Thune, the Republican who defeated Tom Daschle in 2004, had one of those rare moments of DC honesty last week when he said, "If I were running in the state this year, you obviously don't embrace the president and his agenda." And, if you look at the Republican candidates' websites in some of the truly close races, man, you can barely tell that a Republican is President.

Like, for instance, check out the site for Indiana congressman Mike Sodrel, in a tight race against Democrat Baron Hill, who proudly has a picture of himself with Bill Clinton on his home page. You can dig, into Sodrel's photo section, or the On the Issues section, and, while it may be there somewhere, damned if the Rude Pundit can find the words "George Bush," let alone an image of the man that's ostensibly Sodrel's party's leader.

But if you go back, via Archive.org's Wayback Machine, why you can find that back in June of 2004, why Mike Sodrel had Bush's grinnin' puss on his home page. Hell, Sodrel even touted his closeness to President Bush, with the chair of the Indiana Republican Party promising that Sodrel "will fight alongside President Bush" on defense issues. And, at one point, Sodrel had a section just for pictures of himself with the Bush/Cheney campaign. What a difference two years makes, huh? To go from proud and open butt boy to cowering closeted cretin in so short a time, despite the fact that there's little evidence that Sodrel ever actually opposed Bush on anything.

And that's the way it goes for so many Republicans, running away from Bush like so many rats on so many ships heading into the drink. Back in 2002, to continue picking on Indiana, Chris Chocola prominently featured Tom DeLay and Dick Cheney on his campaign site's homepage, with Bush mentioned throughout. Now, much like Sodrel, the Rude Pundit can't find hide nor hair of the President on Chocola's website in his campaign against Joe Donnelly.

Let's keep this party going - but, fuck, it'll have to wait because Archive.org just got all flaky and is rejecting the Rude Pundit's advances.

More as soon as it's back.

Update: According to Google, Chris Chocola's entire site mentions the word "Bush" only once. The same thing goes for Mike Sodrel's site. One mention. That ain't runnin'. It's screaming crazy to get away.

  79. "I'm not sure where we went wrong," says KayinMaine, nervously fondling the recycled paper cup holding her organic Kona soy latte. "It seems like only yesterday Rain was a carefree little boy at the Montessori school, playing non-competitive musical chairs with the other children and his care facilitators."

"But now..." she pauses, staring out the window of her postmodern Durham home. The words are hesitant, measured, bearing a tale of family heartbreak almost too painful for her to recount. "But now, Rain insists that I call him Bobby Ray."

Even as her voice is choked with emotion, she summons an inner courage -- a mother's courage -- and leads me down the hall to "Bobby Ray's" bedroom, for a firsthand glimpse at the psychic devastation that claimed her son.

She opens the door to a reveal a riot of George Jones CDs, reflective 'mudflap mama' stickers, empty foil packs of Red Man, and U.S. Marine recruiting posters. In the middle of the room: a makeshift table made from a utility cable spool, bearing a the remains of a gutted catfish.

"This used to be all Ikea," she says, rocking on heels between heaved sobs. "It's too late for us. Maybe it's not to late for me to warn others."

    Pandora's Moon Pie Box

While poignant, Kay's painful battle to save her son is far from isolated. Across coastal America, increasing numbers of families are discovering that their children have been lured into "Cracker" culture -- a new, freewheeling underground youth movement that celebrates the hedonistic thrills of frog-gigging and outlaw modified sprint cars. No one knows their exact number, but sociologists say that the movement is exploding among young people in America's most fashionable zip codes.

"We first detected it a few years ago, with the emergence of the trucker hat phenomenon," says Gerard Levin, professor of abnormal sociology at the University of California. "At first we thought it was some sort of benign, ironic strain. By the time we realized the early wearers really were interested in seed corn hybrids and Peterbilts, it had already escaped containment."

Levin points to 'Patient Zero,' who in 1997 was a 23-year old graduate student in Gender Studies at San Francisco State University.

"During a cross-country trip to New York, he stopped at the Iowa 80 Truck Stop in Walcott, Iowa, and bought a John Deere gimme cap as a gag souvenir," says Levin. "Within a year, he had dropped out of graduate school, abandoned his SoMa apartment, and and was working at a drive-thru liquor store. Today he is a wealthy televangelist in Bossier City, Louisiana."

  111. Rush is a man of courage. Recall this satement on his radio program, heard live by millions of Americans:

"Broadcast nationally over the EIB Network October 10, 2003)

"You know I have always tried to be honest with you and open about my life. So I need to tell you today that part of what you have heard and read is correct. I am addicted to prescription pain medication.

"I first started taking prescription painkillers some years ago when my doctor prescribed them to treat post surgical pain following spinal surgery.

"Unfortunately, the surgery was unsuccessful and I continued to have severe pain in my lower back and also in my neck due to herniated discs. I am still experiencing that pain. Rather than opt for additional surgery for these conditions, I chose to treat the pain with prescribed medication. This medication turned out to be highly addictive.

"Over the past several years I have tried to break my dependence on pain pills and, in fact, twice checked myself into medical facilities in an attempt to do so. I have recently agreed with my physician about the next steps.

"Immediately following this broadcast, I am checking myself into a treatment center for the next 30 days to once and for all break the hold this highly addictive medication has on me. The show will continue during this time, of course, with an array of guest hosts you have come to know and respect.

"I am not making any excuses. You know, over the years athletes and celebrities have emerged from treatment centers to great fanfare and praise for conquering great demons. They are said to be great role models and examples for others. Well, I am no role model. I refuse to let anyone think I am doing something great here, when there are people you never hear about, who face long odds and never resort to such escapes. They are the role models. I am no victim and do not portray myself as such. I take full responsibility for my problem.

"At the present time, the authorities are conducting an investigation, and I have been asked to limit my public comments until this investigation is complete.

"So I will only say that the stories you have read and heard contain inaccuracies and distortions, which I will clear up when I am free to speak about them. "I deeply appreciate all your support over this last tumultuous week. It has sustained me. I ask now for your prayers. I look forward to resuming our excursion into broadcast excellence together."

  130. As George W. Bush and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice huddle with representatives of old-line Arab regimes and as Israel continues pounding targets in Lebanon, it is becoming increasingly clear why al-Qaeda leader Osama bin-Laden wanted Bush to gain a second term as U.S. President.

On Oct. 29, 2004, just four days before the U.S. election, bin-Laden took the risk of breaking nearly a year of silence to release a videotape denouncing Bush. The CIA quickly reached a classified conclusion that bin-Laden knew that his anti-Bush tirade would spur more American voters to back Bush for another four years in office.

CIA analysts recognized that bin-Laden saw Bush’s policies – such as the Guantanamo prison camp, the Abu Ghraib scandal and the Iraq War – as playing into al-Qaeda’s hands by creating a new generation of Islamic jihadists and undermining pro-U.S. Arab governments.

“Certainly,” CIA deputy associate director for intelligence Jami Miscik told a senior meeting of CIA analysts, “he [bin-Laden] would want Bush to keep doing what he’s doing for a few more years,” according to Ron Suskind’s The One Percent Doctrine.

As the CIA analysts reviewed this internal assessment, they grew troubled by its implications. “An ocean of hard truths before them – such as what did it say about U.S. policies that bin-Laden would want Bush reelected – remained untouched,” Suskind wrote. [See Consortiumnews.com’s “CIA: Osama Helped Bush in ’04.”]

Meanwhile, in the hours after the Osama videotape was released, pro-Bush pundits fell into the trap by defining bin-Laden’s rant as an endorsement of John Kerry. Heading into the election, Bush’s support jumped six percentage points in one poll.

    Popular Rage

Today, bin-Laden’s strategy makes even more sense. Bush’s violent policies for reshaping the Middle East are spreading popular rage as the death toll mounts in Lebanon from Israeli air strikes against Hezbollah guerrilla strongholds and as Palestinians continue to die from Israel’s crackdown in Gaza, following raids that captured three Israeli soldiers.

Just as Bush and his advisers see the carnage as “birth pangs of a new Middle East” – in the words of Condoleezza Rice – so bin-Laden perceives the same violence as crucial for his own vision of a “new Middle East,” by isolating the dwindling number of pro-Bush leaders in the Arab world from the “Arab street.”

Compounding this Arab political problem, the Bush administration has even boasted of the anti-Hezbollah positions taken by the leaders of Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Jordan – exposing those autocratic leaders to furious criticism from their citizens.

This dilemma appears to have contributed to a surprising development on July 23 after Bush invited some of his more reliable friends from the Saudi monarchy to a strategy session at the White House.

However, instead of simply endorsing Bush’s hard-line support for Israel’s Lebanese offensive, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal delivered a letter from Saudi King Abdullah beseeching Bush to pressure Israel to stop its attack inside Lebanon that have killed nearly 400 people, mostly civilians.

“We requested a cease-fire to allow for a cessation of hostilities,” the Saudi foreign minister told reporters after the meeting. “I have brought a letter from the Saudi king to stop the bleeding in Lebanon.”

White House officials said Bush rebuffed the king’s appeal and remained adamantly opposed to the idea of pressuring Israel into a cease-fire. Though the Saudis and other Sunni governments see a threat from the rising influence of Shiite-ruled Iran, which backs Hezbollah, they also are worried about being viewed by their own populations as Bush’s puppets.

    ‘Bandar Bush’

Underscoring Bush’s predicament – appealing for help from old friends who find their pro-U.S. positions more and more troublesome back home – the rocky White House meeting even included the longtime Saudi ambassador to the United States, Prince Bandar bin Sultan, who is now the secretary-general of the Saudi National Security Council.

Over the past quarter century, the cigar-smoking Bandar has lent a hand to Republican administrations on operations from the Iran-Contra Affair in the 1980s to the response to the 9/11 attacks, which involved 14 Saudi hijackers working for bin-Laden, the scion of another prominent Saudi family.

In the hours after the 9/11 attacks, Bandar met with Bush and helped arrange an airlift of well-connected Saudis, including members of the bin-Laden family, out of the United States. Bandar has been such an intimate of the Bush family that he earned the nickname “Bandar Bush.”

Yet not even “Bandar Bush” could keep the Saudi king from sending a letter that suggests a rift in the historic alliance between Riyadh and Washington.

While Bush’s latest strategy was to use the Saudis to pressure Syria into splitting from Iran as well as abandoning the Hezbollah guerrillas in Lebanon, the image of Saudi royals arriving for meetings with Bush also was perfect for bin-Laden’s goal of radicalizing the Arab masses.

Bin-Laden has long targeted the Saudi royals because of their strategic support for the United States in the Middle East. But the Saudi princes now find themselves in a tight spot because even their favored Islamic clerics have denounced the intensity of the Israeli attacks on Lebanon.

Sheik Abdul Rahman al-Sudais, the senior Saudi imam, delivered a sermon from Islam’s holiest site in Mecca on July 21 praising the bravery of the Palestinians and Lebanese in their confrontation with Israel and urging Muslim leaders to “unify their ranks.”

In a swipe at Bush and his administration’s lectures about freedom and democracy, Rahman asked, “Don’t they fear that history will condemn them for their double standards?” [NYT, July 22, 2006]

Other Islamic clerics were even blunter in their criticism of pro-U.S. Arab leaders.

“Where are the Arab leaders?” demanded Sheik Hazzaa al-Maswari, an Islamist politician in Yemen. “Do they have any skill other than begging for a fake peace outside the White House? We don’t want leaders who bow to the White House.”

Mohamed al-Habash, a cleric who serves in the Syrian parliament, said the United States – in letting Israeli warplanes slaughter Lebanese women and children – was helping extremists attract more young Muslims to terrorism.

“The United States is creating more Zarqawis, more bin-Ladens in the Mideast every day,” Habash said. [NYT, July 22, 2006]

So, bin-Laden may well have been executing a clever stratagem when he released his “October Surprise” video in 2004. At the time, even Bush recognized the odd fact that bin-Laden’s video was a boon to his campaign.

“I thought it was going to help,” Bush said in a post-election interview with Washington Times reporter Bill Sammon. “I thought it would help remind people that if bin-Laden doesn’t want Bush to be the President, something must be right with Bush.” [Consortiumnews.com's “Bush Agrees Bin-Laden Helped in '04.”]

As Bush suggested, many undecided voters apparently did take bin-Laden’s words at face value and assumed that bin-Laden really wanted Bush defeated. In secret, the CIA had reached the opposite conclusion, that bin-Laden was playing a double game, pretending to want Bush out when he really wanted Bush to stay in.

With the Middle East descending into bloody chaos – and the radical Islamists exploiting the anger of the Arab masses – bin-Laden appears to winning on his bet that Bush’s war-like strategies would indeed create a “new Middle East,” though not the kind the United States had once envisioned.

  132. The Fratlomat -- Commentary by Will Durst

It was quite a performance the President put on at the G- 8 Summit in Saint Petersburg, Russia this year. If you, like me, understand the phrase “quite a performance” to mean “whoa, dude, chill.” Maybe a switch to decaffeinated is in order. “Yo, Blair.” That’s how he hailed the Prime Minister of Great Britain at a photo op at the closing of the conference. “Yo Blair.” Sounds like how I might greet one of my friends, but you know what, I’m not the President of the United States of America at a major world summit. Which, as Martha Stewart says, is a good thing.

Bush then proceeded to mumble some spurious advice to Tony Blair with a mouth full of partially masticated roll, answering once and for all why his staff goes to such lengths to keep him corralled like a roping calf in Crawford, Texas, where chewing with your mouth open is considered an art form as well as a compliment to the chef. We got some spoiled fruit running the country and he’s loose and playing frat boy diplomat with the big kids and everything is going horribly awry people!

As bored with the whole concept of diplomacy as a five year old stuck in the quantum physics section of a Jamaican library, and obviously distressed at not finding Premier Putin to gaze soul searchingly into the eyes of, Bush wandered around the big conference table finally lighting upon German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Distractedly, he began to give her a back rub prompting a typical Tuetonic reaction, in which Ms Merkel tensed up tighter than a retaining wire on the mast of a sailing ship in a force five gale. She hunched her shoulders, grimaced, and threw up her hands in an apparent plea for the World Court to augment Bush’s future war crimes trial with a sexual harassment charge.

What did he expect? For her to turn around and whisper seductively, “I’ll give you a week to cut that out?” She’s German for crum’s sake. East German. Everyone knows the East Germans are as cuddly as a stainless steel teddy bear. I imagine we should consider ourselves lucky he didn’t grab her butt and make “honk- honk” noises. Or pulled a “gotcha” where he pokes her in the chest and then tweaks her nose after she looks down. And you know the cupped hand under the armpit thing is definitely in his arsenal.

We haven’t even talked about the word that rhymes with spit and would cost me $325,000 if I accidentally blurted it out during my day job on the radio. The hypocrisy of him signing that sanctimonious bill is so thick you can scrape the excess mendacity off the top like froth off a cappuccino. THEN, without missing a beat, he asks President Hu of China, “how long does it take you to get home? 8 hours? Wow. Russia’s a big country. So is China, isn’t it?” Yes, George, China is a big country. Got a lot of people in it too. And Mexico. Great Mexican food. And full of Mexicans. But you already know that, because you speak Mexican, don’t you?

Can you imagine Roosevelt giving the Reichs Fuhrer a back rub? Well, actually, I guess Neville Chamberlain kind of did, but that’s not the point. Instead of grandstanding for its election year base, it is incumbent upon Congress to save our nation further embarrassments by passing a law immediately prohibiting all of the members of the Bush family from any televised meeting with a foreign leader where food is being served. And mittens. They should be required to wear mittens.

Thomas Adams, longtime Green Oaks mayor and former chairman of the Lake County Republican Central Committee, was charged Monday with possession and distribution of child pornography.

Adams, 67, faces 11 counts of disseminating child pornography and two counts of possession. Lake County Judge Victoria Rossetti set his bond at $100,000.

Prosecutor Patricia Fix said sheriff's and state's attorney's investigators first received tips on Adams' alleged illegal activities in March 2005. Adams allegedly sent child pornography, via attachments to e-mail, to undercover police in Clearwater, Fla.

The alleged pornography includes both still images and at least one explicit movie of a boy masturbating, Fix said.

Several phony names were used in his alleged pornography trading, she said, but all were tracked back to Adams' home in the 800 block of Anderson Drive in Green Oaks.

After being taken into custody, Adams acknowledged that all of the screen names were his and that no one else used his computer, Fix said, adding that Adams admitted he had "a problem with addiction."

Defense attorney Thomas Briscoe argued for a minimal bond, saying Adams "has no criminal record, and these are all images, there are no live victims." Briscoe added that Adams "has been involved with public service most of his life."

  140. Oh, and Afghanistan is still a mess too

The current warfare in the Middle East has pushed Iraq out of the news cycle. And, of course, even before these latest hostilities, Iraq had already pushed Afghanistan out.

Well, it’s still there and it’s getting to be more and more of a mess.

(AP) U.S. Soldier Killed in Afghan Firefight

KABUL, Afghanistan — A roadside bomb exploded in the Afghan capital Tuesday, killing two Afghans riding in a taxi, as fighting in eastern provinces left a U.S. soldier and seven suspected Taliban dead, officials said.

Also, the Afghan government appealed for $76.4 million to tackle an “imminent food crisis” caused by prolonged drought, particularly in the north and northwest.

    Read on; it’s depressing.

Iraq was never in the stars — at least that’s my take. In other words, even if Bush & Co. hadn’t royally screwed the occupation up, the end result would probably eventually have been the same.

They screwed the pooch on that one the day they started the war.

But there are legitimate reasons to believe that Afghanistan might have been different. Every indication in the early days was that the people, weary of years of war and extreme poverty, were ready to embrace a new way. If we’d kept our eye on the ball, instead of running off to the next excellent neocon adventure, and finished off the fighting capacity of the Taliban and their terrorist allies, real progress might have been possible.

It was a golden opportunity: But Bush, who seems to have a shorter attention span of a five-year-old boy, pissed it away.

And we will be paying the price for that blunder for many years to come.

    WASHINGTON -
President Bush said Tuesday a new plan to increase U.S. and Iraqi forces in the besieged capital of Baghdad will help quell rising violence that is threatening
    Iraq's transformation to a self-sustaining democracy.

"Obviously the violence in Baghdad is still terrible and therefore there needs to be more troops," Bush said in a White House news conference with visiting Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki.

Al-Maliki, on his first trip to the United States since becoming prime minister two months ago, said he and Bush agreed that training and better arming Iraqi forces as quickly as possible, particularly in the capital city, was central to efforts to stabilize the country.

"And, God willing, there will be no civil war in Iraq," al-Maliki said, speaking through a translator.

  143. 400,000 Frozen Embryos
But only 128 'snowflakes' have been adopted. Will the stem-cell veto hurt the GOP?

There’s no daylight between President Bush and what any Democrat is saying about the Middle East conflict. Polls show that Americans sympathize with Israel but don’t want us to get drawn into the fighting. The small band of neocons who beat the drums for war with Iraq are trying to goad Bush into doing whatever it takes to get rid of Hizbullah in Lebanon.
    Story continues below ↓ advertisement

“It reminds me of that old schoolyard taunt: ‘You and what army?’” says Matt Bennett of Third Way, a centrist group founded to challenge liberal orthodoxy. The neocons have not lost their faith in American invasions even as the fallout from Iraq emboldens Syria and Iran and threatens to engulf the region in all-out war. What this latest outbreak of violence means for Bush’s portfolio as he leads his party into the fall elections is anybody’s guess. It could overshadow the mess in Iraq and serve as a distraction for Republicans, or it could help Democrats by reminding voters how everything seems to be coming apart on Bush’s watch.

If this were a normal news time, the big story this week would be Bush’s veto of legislation to expand federally funded embryonic stem-cell research. Bush’s defiance on the issue has the potential of being as big a political gift for Democrats as the Massachusetts gay-marriage ruling was for Republicans in the last election. “The public clearly sides with science on this issue,” says Republican pollster Frank Luntz. But he adds that there are so many cutting-edge issues out there—Iraq, immigration, energy prices—that embryonic stem-cell research falls behind in comparison.

Sixty percent of Americans support this research (according to a recent Gallup review of polls on the subject), and when they see Bush holding up adoption as an alternative to scientific study, they know it’s a false choice. Most people understand intuitively that the overwhelming majority of embryos that are the byproduct of in vitro fertilization will not become babies, and real medical and scientific advances could be made if these embryos were available to scientists. Bush banned the media from watching him wield his veto pen, the first of his presidency; then he welcomed cameras as he explained his decision at a White House reception surrounded by “snowflake babies” and their grateful parents.

There are 400,000 embryos languishing in storage tanks at fertility clinics; only a very small number are candidates for adoption. “Even with federal funding available to encourage adoption, the number [of pregnancies from these embryos] is 128, which makes it conclusive that these 400,000 embryos will either be used for scientific research or thrown away,” said Republican Sen. Arlen Specter, who supports expanded research. The legislation, which passed by wide margins in the Republican-controlled House and Senate but fell short of a vetoproof two-thirds majority, would only use embryos that would otherwise be discarded, and then only with the written consent of the couple that created them

The impact of the newly energized stem-cell debate is being felt in individual races. Pennsylvania Rep. Curt Weldon, a toe-the-line conservative, surprised everybody by voting to overturn Bush’s veto despite having voted against the legislation. His Democratic challenger, retired Navy vice admiral Joe Sestak, thanked him for his reversal, likening it to John Kerry’s famous campaign faux pas, “I voted for it before I voted against it.” In Weldon’s case, he voted against it before he voted for it. Weldon is best known for believing that the jury is still out on WMD in Iraq. First elected in 1986, this is his first tough race. The last four Democrats who ran against him collectively raised $78,000, chump change. Sestak has raised more than a million dollars, even outpacing Weldon in the last quarter in part because of some pretty slimy personal attacks by Weldon that backfired.

In a conversation with NEWSWEEK, Sestak said he decided to run while living in the oncology ward of Children’s Hospital in Washington as his daughter, then 4 years old, was being treated for a brain tumor. “I’ve seen the other side,” he said, explaining that in his daughter’s room was a toddler diagnosed with acute leukemia whose parents were uninsured. Hearing their anguish helped crystallize his decision to seek office, as did his opposition to the Iraq war (“tragic misadventure,” he calls it). Once he learned his daughter was in remission, he drove to the county in Pennsylvania where he grew up and declared his intention to run for Congress. Recently retired after 31 years in the Navy, he had always harbored an admiration for politicians and served as director of defense policy in the Clinton White House.

Weldon accused him of being a carpetbagger because he was only renting in the district while his wife and daughter were still in the Washington area. When Sestak explained that his daughter remained in treatment, Weldon questioned why she wasn’t being treated in Philadelphia or Delaware, closer to home. The upshot was an outpouring of campaign contributions, mostly from liberal bloggers incensed by Weldon’s cheap shot. Sestak and his wife eventually posted a letter thanking everybody but asking that future donations in the name of their daughter, Alexandra, now 5, be directed to cancer-treatment centers. This is an unusually personal race, but that's what it takes to engage voters when so much else is going on.

    Baptist Group's Leaders Convicted
    Investors Lost $585 Million

Two former executives of a failed Southern Baptist foundation were convicted here Monday in what prosecutors said was the nation's largest fraud ever targeting members of a religious group.

William Pierre Crotts, who was president of the Baptist Foundation of Arizona, and Thomas Dale Grabinski, the group's former chief legal counsel, were each convicted of three counts of fraud and one count of conducting an illegal enterprise in a scheme that lasted decades and cheated 11,000 investors across the country of about $585 million.

In a trial that lasted 10 months, prosecutors claimed that the executives were driven by shame to hide the foundation's mounting investment losses, bilking investors who were recruited in Southern Baptist churches and by Bible-quoting salesmen who visited their homes. Investors were told their money would help Southern Baptist causes, such as building new churches, and were promised above-market returns.

Instead, prosecutors said Crotts and Grabinski had designed a Ponzi scheme in which new investors were needed to pay off the secret mounting debt. Donald Conrad, an Arizona assistant attorney general, characterized Crotts and Grabinski during closing arguments as business failures who defrauded investors in part to "feed their financial fantasies" that they were savvy businessmen.

The pair were handcuffed and led from Maricopa County Superior Court after the verdict.

Prosecutors failed to show that Crotts and Grabinski profited personally from the fraud, which involved hiding millions of dollars of losses in shell companies they created to conceal the losses. The two men were acquitted of 23 theft counts.

Defense attorneys had argued that the foundation could have been able to pay off investors if state regulators had not forced it to stop selling securities in 1999. Grabinski's attorney, Daryl Williams, said Arizona officials simply did not understand the foundation's complicated finances.

The two former executives will be sentenced Sept. 29. Each faces a maximum sentence of more than 46 years, according to the attorney general's office. James D. Porter, a foundation investor and Crotts family friend, said he believes that Crotts is innocent despite the verdict.

"The truth is not determined by what this court said," Porter said. "Righteous people have spent time in jail before."

Since the foundation's 1999 bankruptcy, five other employees or associates have pleaded guilty in connection with the fraud.

The foundation was an official agency of the Arizona Southern Baptist Convention, which is affiliated with the national Southern Baptist Convention. The foundation's accounting firm was Arthur Andersen LLP, which collapsed after allegations that it had helped Enron Corp. conceal its mounting business problems. In 2002, Arthur Andersen agreed to pay the state of Arizona $217 million to settle a lawsuit over its work for the Baptist foundation.

Foundation investor Bob Shaw, 59, a car salesman, said he recovered about 68 percent of the $250,000 he invested with the foundation. But he said Monday's verdicts were more satisfying than getting his money back.

"When they walked out of there in handcuffs," Shaw said, "that was justice for me."

  149. Looks like the israeli military got more of a fight than they figgered on,

If you read Reuven Pedatzur's article in Haaretz attentively, you will see that he is indicting the Israeli armed forces as incompetent and also will detect that he is extremely alarmed. Despite his confidence, expressed at the outset, that Israeli military mistakes (primarily grossly underestimating Hizbullah) will not affect the course of the war, he admits that it will cast a shadow over its public reception. I don't think we can rule out an impact on the course of the war yet.

    Wire services report

' Israeli Armed Forces effectives returning from the Lebanon’s front, say they are facing an intelligent, well prepared and ruthless guerrilla. The soldiers describe Hezbollah guerrillas hide between civilians and in underground bunkers that are two or three stories deep, evidence that this has been prepared for years. They are hard to beat and show no fear of dying, expressed an Israeli soldier. '

The Israelis are finding that the Hizbullah guerrillas have excellent intelligence on Israeli weaponry, and that they are capable of fighting orderly tactical battles from buildings with machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades. In other words, they are not facing the militia of tobacco share croppers. They are facing a highly professional military force, perhaps the most professional in the region aside from Israel's own.

The Israeli military is rapidly scaling back its military goals, since the ones initially announced with such confidence (pushing Hizbullah back 35 miles and completely destroying its missile arsenal) are obviously pie in the sky. The Israelis are stumbling around so badly that yesterday they lost a helicopter and killed 6 of their own men (it could have been much worse).

  150. Democrats Vow to Fight On After Zarqawi Loss

    by Scott Ott

(2006-06-09) — As Blackberry devices and cell phones on Capitol Hill hummed with news of the death of terrorist leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi yesterday, Congressional Democrats vowed that despite the loss they would fight on in “the war on the war on terror.”

“Zarqawi will be missed because he put a human face on the futility of the illegal U.S. occupation of Iraq,” said one unnamed lawmaker, who assured a reporter that “Democrats are still optimistic. We’re still looking for the silver lining.”

Rep. John Murtha, D-PA, a former Marine and vocal critic of the military occupation of Iraq, immediately denounced “the Zarqawi massacre” and suggested that the F-16 pilot who dropped the bombs had snapped under pressure and murdered the al Qaeda leader “in cold blood.”

Sen. Arlen Specter, R-PA, demanded an explanation of the secret intelligence gathering techniques and surveillance used to find Mr. Zarqawi.

“I want to give the president an opportunity to explain the program to the Congress and to assure the American people that nobody’s civil rights were violated,” said Sen. Specter.

Meanwhile, Democrat National Committee Chairman Howard Dean and former presidential candidate Al Gore observed a moment of silence as they heard of the passing of Mr. Zarqawi, a fellow Internet pioneer.

I Don’t Want to Love You, But I Do

You were born out of death to a life in a cage
Where bombs are not the only reason people die
Fed by the violence of hunger and homelessness
    Raised by colonialism
Your heart and your will still grew strong

    You scare me
Not just because they tell me to be scared
Not just because they repeat, repeat, repeat
    The story of 1983
    Begging me to understand
Americans are worth more than Lebanese

Why do they never tell me about Jihad al Bina
That you have created so much
    Saved so many lives
    Improved so many more

    It scares me
    When I admit to myself
That I would be more scared without you
If I still took the time to see

To see the violence that does not just fall from the skies
that exists in hunger and homelessness
    in colonialism

    It scares me
That my hope is tangled up
In actions I would never want to commit

But I don’t sleep much these days
    And I’ve tried hard
    But I haven’t found
    Anything
to give me hope that they will listen

    They repeat, repeat, repeat
    The story of Gaza withdrawal
    Hoping we won’t see
    The violence that continues
That kills in so many ways
Hoping we will now support it
    Or at least stop looking

They insist talk does not work
When there is no one to talk to
It is hard to find an interlocutor
When you’re not willing to listen
    To see
    To feel

How do you keep faith that talk will work
When even they are insisting it won’t?

I am learning to have hope in you
I am learning to see you as so much more
Than those actions I would never want to commit

    You amaze me.
Born out of death to a life in a cage
    Raised by colonialism
You did not accept imprisonment as natural
You did not accept hunger as justice
    You did not accept
the ceaseless killing in so many ways
    Of those next to you
    Or those farther away

    I love you
But I will never be yours

I don’t want you inside me
You are too male for me

And I cannot, gratefully, fully silence the voice that insists:
    Some deaths you did accept
Including of some who were listening

That is why the full statement that the question-marks pry me with reads:
It is sad, but I’m learning to have hope in Hizbulla

    Maybe it is the naivety
of one whose life has never been directly threatened
    I still believe:
Be the change you want to see in the world.

I was about to e-mail you yesterday and call you on your silly attempt to turn what was obviously a joke into traitorous sentiment. But then I recalled that this is your stock in trade--you essentially make your living accusing others of treason, and the fundamental dishonesty of your work speaks for itself. You already know the truth, so there's no need to "correct" you, because you're lying, not just confused.

Regardless, I still feel compelled to call bullsh-- on you for the 857th time. Soderberg was joking, and there is no "element of truth" to the slander that she's traitorous. Plus, your reasoning is lacking, to put it mildly. Your headline implies that Soderberg is being dishonest when she says she "was only joking." Then you state that it's obvious she was joking, because she was on Comedy Central, and nothing serious is ever said there. Then you wrap up by saying she wasn't really joking, after all, because she made the traitorous comment four times. Which is it, smart guy?

You're probably the most loathsome high-profile blogger out there. I don't know how you live with yourself. You're like some rabid college wingnut who never grew out of adolescence. That you can get paid for this tripe, even well after college (?), amazes me.

The Iraqi premier said he would devote himself to bridging Iraq's sectarian divisions, reining in militias, cajoling some insurgent factions to stop fighting and fortifying Baghdad, the country's main battleground.

So far, though, the various plans have had little substantive effect. Mr. Maliki's reconciliation plan, for instance, promised amnesty to insurgents willing to lay down their arms. But there has been no agreement on how far the amnesty should extend or which groups it should encompass. Despite deploying more checkpoints and security personnel around the capital, meanwhile, the number of attacks there has risen sharply.

  161. The limits of western power

    by Colman
Tue Jul 25th, 2006 at 06:48:04 AM EST

Recent events in Iraq and Lebanon lead me to wonder if the necessity to maintain at least minimal support for wars by avoiding large spikes in our casualty rates makes it impossible for modern, high-tech, highly connected democracies to successfully prosecute aggressive wars.

The US/UK war in Iraq has clearly been hampered, if not lost, through the philosophy of force protection. US forces have taken a very aggressive approach to minimising risks to their troops. The resulting atrocities - civilians shot for driving too close to US forces for instance - have fed the insurgency and destroyed any chance of winning support for the occupation forces. The military philosophy that prefers to call in “precision” air support in urban areas rather than risk troops causes civilian deaths and reduces the likelihood of actually killing or capturing the targets of the action while simultaneously recruiting for your opponents.

The Israeli Army’s need to avoid casualties is partly driven by need: Israel is a small country and can’t afford to replace large numbers of combat losses but it appears to be hampering their action in Lebanon in a similar fashion - they have hoped for air power would do the heavy killing and that troops would be relatively unopposed. As Billmon notes, Hezbollah hadn’t read that plan so didn’t know what they were meant to do. Pat Lang has more to say about the futility of relying on aerial bombardment in this sort of war.

To fight a guerilla war with conventional military forces requires massive deployment of infantry in close combat, with the concomitant losses. You need to be everywhere, all the time, using only minimum force in order to minimise civilian deaths. Valuing the lives of your troops in tens of civilian lives guarantees that you will kill so many that you will create the army that will defeat you.

The alternatives to military action - honest negotiation for instance - are too protracted, too soft, too complicated and too stereotypically feminine for the macho men and women that are in charge at the moment. They also have the disadvantage of possibly being effective, unlike military action.

  162. The Next Front

Pressure is building on Ankara to deal more harshly with cross-border terrorist attacks from Iraq.

uly 31, 2006 issue - Israel launched airstrikes on Lebanon in response to attacks by Hizbullah earlier this month, and George W. Bush called it "self-defense." But what to tell the Turks, who over the last week lost 15 sol-diers to terror attacks launched by sepa-ratist Kurds from neighboring Iraq? Many Turkish leaders are pressing for cross-border tactical air assaults on the guerrillas. But Bush, fearing yet another escalation of the Middle East's violence, urged Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to hold off. "The message was, unilateral action isn't going to be helpful," says a senior U.S. official, describing the 15-minute phone conversation. "The president asked for patience."

And so Turkish forces are holding fast—for now—in deference to their half-century alliance with the United States. But that patience is bound to be challenged, probably sooner than later. Domestic political pressures are building to take a leaf from Israel's book and hit back at the guerrillas of the Kurdistan Work-ers' Party, or PKK. Since the beginning of the year, attacks on Turkish military garrisons and police stations have esca-lated across the country's southeast, along with random shootings, bombings and protests—many of them, authorities suspect, organized in Iraq. Already the Turkish military has laid detailed plans for possible helicopter-and-commando assaults, government sources tell NEWSWEEK. Meanwhile, Ankara's frustration with Washington has grown palpable. For all the Bush administration's repeated promises to crack down on the PKK, little if anything has happened. With elections coming next year, Erdogan could be pardoned for soon concluding that his forbearance might prove politically dangerous. "Moderate, liberal people in Turkey are becoming increasingly anti-American," warns Turkey's Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul. "That isn't good."

The Bush administration acknowledged yesterday that it had long known about Pakistan's plans to build a large plutonium-production reactor, but it said the White House was working to dissuade Pakistan from using the plant to expand its nuclear arsenal.

Well, it's official! The poll numbers above reflect why 50% of Americans still believe that Saddam has wmd! They're being dumbed down by Fox News. But we knew that already, didn't we? We didn't need no stinking poll to tell us that the right arm of the White House is disinformation galore! That's right...if you're watching Fox News on a daily basis (people in their 70s are watching Bill O'Reilly only!) then you can consider yourself part of the backwash left over at the bottom of the drinking glass. Awwwww....how sad for all of you who depend on the Bush Cartel's propaganda machine to get your 'facts' from.

  166. The one thing neocons despise is Bill Clinton and they should because Clinton was loved by 70% of this country even when the 'crotch holding republicans' were trying to impeach him for lying about an affair he had! The country was smarter than the neocons of that time...and guess what?...those same people (including moderate republicans) loathe George "Wingnut" Bush! At this point, Americans would much rather be dealing with Bush and Condi having an affair than the path that the Bush Cartel is taking our nation! With all Clinton's faults, the man was behind Americans. The Bush Cartel is not.

Who will these same neocons blame for the atrocities during the years of 2001-2009? The Ancient Pharaohs? Jack the Ripper? The Catholics? The Jews? Who????????? I know who I'm going to blame and he has a very low IQ and is currently running our country!

  167. Condi is spreading the peace in the Middle East and Italy today! Yeah, yeah, yeah, she's telling everyone that the Bush Cartel's answer to the Israeli conflict is 'enduring ceasefires'! Wow! Translation? Israel has the authority to call any moment they want a ceasefire. Yeah, yeah, yeah, when a rocket is launched at Israel, Israel can exclaim with finger pointed in the air as the missile is screaming towards them, "Okay, right now we are at a cease fire. No bombings please.", and then when the bomb explodes in their country they can say, "Okay! That's it! We said peace and look what you've done! That's it! We're coming for you!". Yup, the Bush Cartel wants for those in the Middle East to endure the ceasefires....not. It's just more Orwellian Doublespeak. Israel will use the word 'ceasefire' as a way to make themselves look like the victims which will continue their aggression and the Bush Cartel will continue to protect the Israelis...you know, "the wanters of peace".

What will Condi learn in Rome? I don't know but years ago Dick Cheney and his Scooter went to Italy in 2002 for a little gaunt and then an amazing thing happened! A document surfaced that "proved" Saddam was trying to purchase yellowcake uranium from Niger. Well, guess what? The Italian newspapers at the time exclaimed that Rocco Martino, who is an Italian ex-Intelligence guy, broken into the Niger Embassy in Rome, Italy and stole a bunch of blank letterhead from the Embassy. It was the same letterhead used to forge the letter and it was this forged document that 99% of the democrat US Senators who were on the Senate Intelligence Committee at the time to not vote for an invasion of Iraq! They knew in an instant that the document was a forgery. Those that were not part of this Committee voted for the invasion and occupation.

So, what will Condi produce for the Bush Cartel to invade Iran? We can only guess.

The Truth about George W. Bush

    http://bushssecretlifein84.tripod.com/

Here you will find out the little known truth concerning President George W. Bush, Victor Ashe, the current American ambassador to Poland (formerly mayor of Knoxville, Tennessee and Exec. V.P.; C.F.O. of Fannie Mae), and their adulterous-bisexual relationship with a Las Vegas woman in 1984.

This situation took place in 1984 in the State of Tennessee. It concerns a 41 year old woman [currently residing in Las Vegas], Victor Ashe and George Bush's encounter in 1984 during the senate debates between Al Gore, Jr., Victor Ashe and Ed McAteer. She was invited to come to Tennessee by Victor Ashe. While attending one of these debates she spoke briefly with Ed McAteer (Senatorial candidate in 1984 who debated alongside Al Gore, Jr. and Victor Ashe, and was responsible in part for the emergence of the Religious Right).

Members of the mainstream media (CNN, FOX/news, Chicago Tribune) have known about this Las Vegas woman [well known in the BDSM underground] since September of 2003 yet they have done little if anything to get to the bottom of it. Like Bush's national guard service records they've given him a free pass concerning the what, where and when of his participation in the Texas Air National Guard.

We believe if the whereabouts and war-time behavior of Senator Kerry during his tour in Vietnam in the early 70's are matters of importance to the American people [according to Sinclair Broadcasting and Swift Boat Vets for Truth] then the past behavior of this President and his involvement in a homosexual situation with another man in the mid 80's is of equal importance.

When this Las Vegas woman told us about her conversation with Ed McAteer we thought it was something that should be looked into. He was being treated for cancer so we had to move quickly to open a dialogue. We believed obtaining a death bed declaration [if it came down to that] of a man of Ed McAteer's stature in the Christian community [he was called the Godfather of the Religious Right] would have held tremendous weight.?Ed [finally] coming forward to say what he witnessed or knew concerning this matter would have been unimpeachable. Ed was a staunch supporter of the state of Israel and quietly lobbied for the post of U.S. ambassador to Israel back in 2001 but was turned down for the position by none other than George W. Bush. It seems in George W. Bush's isolated bubble, ambassadorships are rewards set aside for friends and lovers only.

We initially contacted Mr. McAteer back in May of this year. He mentioned at that time Victor Ashe's sexual shenanigans were no secret in Tennessee. He seemed resentful of his party's choice to back a 'sodomite' which is why he ran as an independent. Ed was on chemotherapy and it was extremely difficult for him to talk so we deferred until late August at which time his wife [Faye] informed us he wanted to talk further but was under doctors orders to refrain from all strenuous activity. Sadly, Ed McAteer passed away on Oct. 5, 2004, before we could do a follow-up interview, he was 78. For Ed's sake [and that of his family] we hope his departure was natural [God's will], however, the timing of it all seems rather untimely in our opinion.?It bares looking into by the Tennessee authorities.?

When he passed way another writer contacted Faye and she imparted to him that Ed seemed upset upon returning from the debate in Chattanooga back in 1984. Was Ed aware of Victor Ashe and George W. Bush's bisexual behavior? Perhaps that is what upset him so.

Unfortunately he didn't get the chance to tell us what he witnessed that night that upset him or if he remembered talking with the Las Vegas woman.

The Las Vegas woman was paid $15,000 to arrange sexual liaisons involving bisexual men for George W. Bush (then private citizen) and Victor Ashe (then a Tennessee State Senator). These adulterous bisexual affairs (3 encounters in all-3 different cities) took place in the state of Tennessee during the 1984 senate debates between, Al Gore, Jr., Victor Ashe and Ed McAteer. An African-American woman was invited to participate in this adulterous sexual encounter with George W. Bush and Victor Ashe immediately following the Chattanooga senatorial debate. This woman was paid $1,500. A few years later the Las Vegas woman was detained in Washington D.C. with Victor Ashe by the Metro D.C. police. She was released but Victor was taken into custody.

So confident was this woman that Ed would have remembered her [and their meeting] she had finally come forward and was prepared to tell it all. She will swear to the authenticity of what is being imparted here, which is the reason that we built this website so we could get this information out to you.

Bush & Co. will no doubt tell the world she's insane, politically motivated thus concocting this for smear reasons. She is of sound mind and body and welcomes all inquires from the mainstream media. This woman deeply laments not having come forward back in 2000 when then Governor Bush was running for the highest office in the land against [ironically] Vice President Al Gore, Jr.

Disclosure of George W. Bush's adulterous bisexual behavior will only happen if the American public demand answers. Contact your local news organizations demanding that this truth be revealed and not go the way of his Texas Air National Guard records.

Direct all media inquires to thetruthaboutbushin84@yahoo.com

UPDATE June 5, 2006 The woman in question is Leola McConnell. She is the Liberal Democratic candidate for Governor of Nevada in 2006

  178. Hey, if you loonies can say that Bill Clinton is all out gay, then I can post a website done by a woman who is running for governor in our country who claims that Bush and the current Embassador to Poland, Victor Ashe, have had sex together!!!!

Your party has also claimed that Bill and Hillary are drug dealers and murderers too, so don't flinch the next time you hear one of say that Bush is a murderer and paid $43 million to the Taliban in May of 2001 to the Taliban in Afghanistan for them to stop their opium crops only to find out that their crops are the largest in the world now! Bush too is a drug dealer in the highest order because he used America's money to make the deal.

So, remember that...everytime you trolls say that Ann Coulter speaks the truth, we can say what we want about your Fuehrer!

  185. Mike, trying to explain something rational to the trolls is like trying to stir cake batter with a car! It's not going to work. The trolls are exhausted with having to figure out daily excuses to support their Fuehrer's position on everything and why all of his policies have failed. So, being exhaused, they've resorted to name calling and calling me ugly (I laugh at them) because they have nothing......NOTHING!.....to back their Fuehrer up with anymore. They're pathetic creatures.

    Kay,

Honestly, I do understand your viewpoint and am not against it persay, but it's in the vehement way that you speak.

I know it's wrong for me to speak to you in the same way.

Everybody has the right to their own convictions, but the anger that come from you, is worse than I've ever heard Worf speak!

    **********************

Why am I so angry? Have you ever thought of that or did you run your head over this morning trying to see if the muffler moves when you start the car up while backing out of the driveway?!!!!

I have a right to be angry and if you don't like it....FREAKING LEAVE! I think you would do yourself some good if you hung out on one of the right wing blogs where you can all chat about how attractive Bush is when he shoves a loaf of bread down his pants! It would therapy for all of you!!!!

If you say so then it must be true, as you are so obviously honest and virtuous.

But then again your probably the main one user it pops because all you do is call names and resort to 6th grade slander.

    Kay,

That's what I'm talking about. What a terrible way to raise a child behind all that anger, God help that child.

Life will be more enjoyable if you think loving peaceful thoughts. All that anger will do is drum up more anger till you reach the boiling point!

    Kay,

You speak for nobody but yourself. You sound to me to be a very selfish person, you have to take time to think about other people other than yourself, and learn to pray, in order to rid yourself of all that anger... it's extremely unbecoming!...horsey

    Kay,

1 more thing, you don't have any right at all to be angry.
Anger solves nothing...the proof: read and re-read this entire weblog! I might call you names, but it's wrong for me as well. At least I know I am not as angry as you. What apitiful way to live!

    2:13 PM

Excuse me, but you don't know a thing about me! Just because I spend time online voicing my anger and frustration about your idiotic president doesn't mean that I go around yelling and screaming and talking to trees while hitting one! This is how you neocons are...you've been spewing your crap since I came to this blog for days now and you and a few others are all a bunch of hungry fish circling the waters waiting for Lydia to notice you! You're the selfish one pal, not me. Do you see me doing that? Huh? I was invited to this blog, not because of Lydia (she is a beautiful woman, a wonderful mother and wife, and she loves her country! That's my kind of American if you ask me!), but because of my passion for my country that was noticed by a friend of hers. And what have you done? You've done nothing but berate me and discount every single word I've said. I've spent many years online lambasting the asshole sitting in the Oval office and guess what? MY SON IS A WELL-ADJUSTED, WELL-LOVED, AND A VERY POPULAR KID IN HIS SCHOOL! My politics and my beliefs haven't corrupted him like you hope they have. Uh uh...the opposite has happened. My son sees his mother as an engaged person in this world. He now knows what a good America looks like and how a bad America looks like! He now knows what to look for when the leaders of our country try to do a soft coup of our nation! He's knows he loves freedom more than he loves a dictatorship! He knows what to look for. Have you done that with your child or have you just ignored what is happening in our country and have kept your kids stupid? I know the answer. Don't bother telling me.

So don't try to put your crap on me! Before you judge others take a look at yourself pal! You're a pathetic creature that feels superior when others by putting them down.

Now, if you feel that Bush is doing a stupendous job along with his underlings, then post something that proves it or post your words on it, otherwise, stop acting like a jerk! You gain no respect by doing so!!!!!!!!!!

One more thing to you now! Do you think anger is a bad thing? Huh? Anger is what is driving the Iraq war but you love that kind of anger don't you! Anger gets the job done doesn't it pal? Huh? Oh yeah, you love the anger when Bush says, "Bring it on!" or "Dead or Alive!", or "Arab terrorists!", oh that kind of anger gives you an erection, doesn't it Dippy?

I'm gonna tell you this: I'M ANGRY AND AS AN AMERICAN IN THIS GREAT COUNTRY I CAN VOICE IT. I CAN VOICE IT ONLINE, ON THE BACK OF MY CAR, OUT MY CAR WINDOW, OR IN THE TOWN SQUARE, and guess what? A troll is not going to tell me that I can't be angry and I can't voice it!

It's freedom pal and that is something that YOUR PARTY hates. You and the rest of the trolls are the REAL terrorists of our country!!!!!!

    Get it?

    ReplyDelete
  191. Well trolls, do you have a response or are you too scared? The reason why you're not angry is because you're not informed and are not paying attention to what is happening in our nation and around the planet. Just like the typical religious righters, you're oblivious to reality! You don't like reality because reality is too scary for you. You'd much rather hide out in a white building each weak and get ready for the Rapture because you're too scared to fight the Rapture!!! Those of us who see the future destruction and who are screaming about it are the ones that ARE NOT THE COWARDS! Cowards are the ones who say, "Well, you know, this seems a little too tough. I think I'll just go with the flow and hope God is on my side". Idiots. Dolts. You're pathetic. The train is heading for the edge of the cliff and while you and the rest of the neocons sit in your seats chatting away about what Heaven looks like, those of us who can see the path ahead will jump off to save our lives because we care about our lives. Have fun morons. No one can rescue you if you don't think you're worth rescuing.

    A TERRORIST
    ANTI-AMERICAN

    SOCIALIST

but I'll tell you right now,

WHATEVER WORD YOU CHOOSE TO LABEL ME OR DEGRADE ME WON'T STOP ME FROM TALKING! EVEN IF I GET KICKED OFF LYDIA'S BLOG, I'M STILL GOING TO BE TALKING! I'll be talking forever about the most Evil, vile, traitorous, treasonist, warmongering presidency in the history of our country!

    Get it pal?

I like how it took you quite a few minutes to respond to my last two posts. It proves to me that I smacked you down hard and it took you all that time to figure out what to say to me. You're a coward. Saying, "that's funny stuff lol" is not the mark of a person who cares. You're the hateful one, not me pal. This is why you support Bush...you're as hateful as him and you take comfort in that.

    ReplyDelete
  193. Clippy, you're worried about WWIII and you put me down? Huh? Do you see how pathetic you are!!! If you're worried about WWIII then throw all your pictures away of Bush, Cheney, Rummy, and Condi and the rest of the PNACers who want WWIII then!!!!!!!!

Jesus, what the hell do you think Americans have been warning you neocons about? You're on the train and it's heading towards the cliff and me and others are jumping off while you and the ignorant sit in the seats picking your noses!

You're to blame because you support Bush. No one else is to blame. Honestly, I could see why people voted for the asshole in 2000 because our country just had 8 years of a democrat, but to vote for the asshole again (if you believe the election wasn't stolen! But people did vote for him no doubt!) in 2004 was an abomination! Anyone who voted for this jerk is to blame for the path that our nation is going down and for what is happening in the Middle East.

Of course, you neocons don't want to hear that Cheney met with the Israelis 2 months ago and what we are seeing right now is part of the Evil plan! So, if WWIII is scaring you........TOUGH SHIT! You support these guys and you must suffer the consequences. One thing about me however, if my son and I are suffering in the future from radiation poisoning we will be strong. You however will be yelling, "But I voted for Bush! How can this be? Why me? What did I do to you?!". See the difference?

    ReplyDelete
  194. Unless Bush has a change of heart? You think that's possible? Do you think the people in the Middle East are going to say, "Uh guys, the US president has had a change of heart. Put your guns down now. Yup, it's time to go home". Huh? You think this is a situation that can be reversed if Bush is on vacation and says, "You know what. I think I want peace now. Yeah, peace. It's time!".

You're a moron Dippy. I don't care if no one is listening to me rant against you right now either. Someone will read it at some point and that is all I care about. You're stupid enough to stick around and read what I'm saying so I'll keep typing until you leave.

    ReplyDelete
  195. What makes you vote republican Dippy? I'm curious. What is it about the republican party that makes you feel good about yourself?

    ReplyDelete
  196. Is God to blame for WWIII or is it the people who've been behind the scenes for years now conspiring to dominate the planet and who will be safe in bunkers 5 stories under the ground? Huh? Which is it to you right wingers?

    ReplyDelete
  197. I really don't give 2 shits how you think.
    ****************

And I don't give two shits about what you and the rest of the trolls think either!

    There, now we're even.

    ReplyDelete
  198. Sorry pal, but God is in this mess! Bush and his followers believe that he was chosen by God to lead the United States in the End Battle (I don't think this but this is coming from the Rapture Ready people and other right wing whackos who support this man!). When asked if Bush talks to his father about events, Bush said that he talks to the Higher Father. Bush once said that God wanted him to attack Iraq.

So, guess what? God is in it whether you want to believe it or not! The Madman who is running our country right now is the one that dragged her in, not me!

And yes, I agree, WWIII will be started by men and not God but try telling that to the Pat Robertson's and the Jerry Falwells of our nation!!!!!!!
