  5. How about ALL? those jobs....

    I just want to remind everyone about what a jobless economy this is. In May, only 75,000 new jobs were posted.

    I know few readers are watching the Bureau of Labor Statistics website (http://www.bls.gov/), but I have been. Every month, the BLS posts new data. It also updates old data for past months. Every month so far this year, the previous months’ data has been revised DOWNWARD. What was reported in March as over 200,000 new jobs in Februrary is now reported as 175,000 jobs. What was reported in March as 138,000 jobs for April is now reported as 126,000. This month, the new jobs for May are reported as only 75,000. Just as new graduates are appearing in the job market, this is the lowest new jobs figure since October. In most months, about 150,000 new workers enter the job market, how many more will enter this month?

    For all you trolls who long to kick Bill Clinton around: I want to remind you that at this point in his administration, 15,916,000 net new jobs had been reported. President Bush has reported only 2,635,000 net new jobs in over 5 years. Mr. Clinton is 13,281,000 jobs ahead. To report 2,748,000 new jobs - more than Mr. Bush’s 5+ years total - Mr Clinton needed only 12 months. For May of Mr. Clinton’s sixth year, he reported 401,000 new jobs, his seventh-best month.

    For all you trolls who long to kick Democrats around: Mr. Clinton and his fellow Democrat, Jimmy Carter, reported a total of 33,068,000 net new jobs in their combined 12 years. In their combined 25+ years, Republican presidents since 1968 (Nixon, Ford, Reagan, GHW Bush and GW Bush) have reported 32,583,000 net new jobs. In less than half the time, they had more jobs to report.

    The difference is 485,000 jobs. That’s more than Mr. Bush’s best month of 354,000; it’s more than ELEVEN TIMES Mr. Bush’s average month of 41,000 jobs. It is not however, more than Mr. Clinton’s best month of 506,000 jobs. (btw, Mr. Clinton’s average month was 237,000 jobs, not quite six times Mr. Bush’s average.)

    Trolls, you can flap your all you want, but the HARD TRUTH is that the last two Democrats have been better for the United States economy than the last 5 Republicans.

  6. Clif good post, and based on that post I can distill the repug mantra down to one sentence that they would never have the balls to admit and that is less workers/peasants= more money for the people at the top.

    see they view outsourcing good paying middleclass jobs as a fantastic miracle of productivity that increases profits and goes right to the bottom line, (their bottom line) Ceo's are now making 400-500 times the averaqge workers salary they view cutting jobs and outsoourcing them to lower wage copuntries as more pie to divide among themselves, apparantly 500 times the average joe's salary isnt enough for the greedy fat cats. Funny thing is we are the only country with such a disparity between Ceo's pay and the average worker.

  13. Mike did you see Bernanke hinted at stagflation is reappearing again...

    The U.S. Federal Reserve needs to be vigilant to make sure inflation stays under control even as the U.S. economy starts to shift to a slower pace of growth, Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke said on Monday.

    "It is reasonably clear that the U.S. economy is entering a period of transition," Bernanke told a group of bankers. "The anticipated moderation of economic growth seems now to be under way."

    While welcoming signs of cooler growth, the U.S. central bank chief stressed concerns over core inflation, saying it had reached levels that "if sustained" would put it at or above the upper end of the range consistent with price stability.

    "These are unwelcome developments," Bernanke said of the quickening pace of non-food, non-energy inflation.

    "The (Fed's policy-setting) committee will be vigilant to ensure that the recent pattern of elevated monthly core inflation readings is not sustained," he said.

    "Toward this end, and taking full account of the lags with which monetary policy affects the economy, the committee will seek a trajectory for the economy that aligns economic activity with underlying productive capacity," Bernanke added.

    " FF said Intentionally murdering innocents is not policy

    Oh YES it is.

    When the President of the United States himself publically declares the enemy does NOT warrant the Geneva Convention, then the policy, and the stage, has been set for just such attrocities.

    You can't have your Yellow-Cake and eat it too.

    Worfeus, i've wanted to comment on this all day but had a busy day at work, i think like usual FF is focused on Symantics, he is right that the action is indefensible and that the soldiers should be punished swiftly and severely to send a message that behavior like that will not be tolerated, and while looking at the letter of the law the administration never openly supported or encourage that type of behavior, but looking at the spitit of their actions of circumventing the Geneva Convention thats exactly what they did.

    No Maybe Bush and Rummy didnt actually declare murdering children as policy or order the soldiers to do so, but the soldiers could sense that they did not place much value on human life if they were willing to disregard the Geneva Convention and some may have figured they could get away with it, just like a child whose parents are lobbying to roll the legal drinking back to 18 and who regularly say 18 year olds should be allowed to drink and or having a few drinks and driving is ok but dont specifically tell their kids to get hammered and get behind the wheel and kill someone. they just like the Bush administration are guilty of contributing to what happeneded even if they didnt directly or implicitly cause it.

    See Worf I am with you 100% that disregarding the Geneva Convention is reprehensible and disgusting, and i'm positive it has cultivated a mindset among some of the the soldiers that Human life is not valuable and murder and torture is ok. I'm not excusing the soldiers, they are responsible for their actions and the vast majority are probably bad apples, but I feel that disregarding the Geneva Convention has definately contributed in someway to this type of behavior by fostering that mindset that the iraqi's are less than human, and regardless of wether it contributed in a small way or not, wrong is wrong.

    But again to sum up the point the Bush Administration contributed to the masacre even if they didnt directly order or cause it. Its kind of hard to claim to be liberating and helping people and that we are the "good guys" if we ignore the Geneva Convention, thats what made us better than the rest of the world, we didnt murder or torture people like the Nazi's or Viet Comg etc.... and Bush destroyed our good name and brought us down to their level and is rolling around in the mud with the likes of them.

  15. I heard some of it Clif, I'm kind of surprised he used the "stagflation" word, but I think he's trying to sell people that the economy is slowing so he doesnt have to raise rates.

    Bernanke doesnt want inflation to run wild so the asians get spooked and dump the dollar and stop financing our debt, but at the same time he wants to run the economy on the hot side so inflation, inflates away and eases our debt burden (both government and consumer) like Greenspan I think he was trying to soothe or smooth talk the market so he wont have to raise rates, and with the weak job report and think he will pause and not raise rates unless some new data comes out before the 28 that forces him to.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Mike Bernanke did not say stagflation ....DIRECTALLY....he said that we need to keep working on inflation during the economic slowdown...ie the defination of stagflation...a slowing economy with inflation....just like the late 70's and early 80's last time oil prices went thru the roof..coincedentally....

  17. Clif, i've been saying for 3 years now that we were going to have a repeat of the 1970's with stagflation and high oil prices and a bear market in stocks excepty oil/energy and gold those will run just like they did in the 70's.

    Coulter Attacks the Cult of Liberalism

    by Lisa De Pasquale
    Posted Jun 05, 2006

    In Godless: The Church of Liberalism (Crown Forum, 2006), HUMAN EVENTS legal affairs correspondent Ann Coulter lays out one of the most original and perceptive philosophies on the cult of liberalism.

    Get Yours FREE!
    She states, "Under the guise of not favoring religion, liberals favor one cosmology over another and demand total indoctrination into theirs. The state religion of liberalism demands obeisance (to the National Organization for Women), tithing (to teachers' unions), reverence (for abortion), and formulaic imprecations ('Bush lied, kids died!'' 'Keep your laws off my body!' 'Arms for hostages!'). Everyone is taxed to support indoctrination into the state religion through public schools where innocent children are taught a specific belief system, rather than, say, math."

    For years liberals have relied on a strategy of faking out the American public in order to win elections. Instead of accurately articulating their beliefs and engaging in an honest debate, they scour the nation for the perfect patsy. A hysterical mother who is willing to go on national television and call the President a "fuhrer" and "evil maniac" is akin to seeing the stigmata. Liberals' ecstasy over Cindy Sheehan, Max Cleland, and the widows who made a spectacle of themselves in the midst of the 9/11 Commission epitomizes their secret weapon for winning back America -- a doctrine of infallibility in which victory goes to the most hysterical.

    As Coulter writes:

    Finally, the Democrats hit on an ingenious strategy: They would choose only messengers whom we're not allowed to reply to. That’s why all Democratic spokesmen these days are sobbing, hysterical women. You can't respond to them because that would be questioning the authenticity of their suffering. Liberals haven't changed the message, just the messenger. All the most prominent liberal spokesmen are people with "absolute moral authority" -- Democrats with a dead husband, a dead child, a wife who works at the CIA, a war record, terminal illness, or as a last resort, being on a first-name basis with Nelson Mandela. Like Oprah during Sweeps Week, liberals have come to rely exclusively on people with sad stories to improve their Q rating. They've become the "Lifetime" TV Network of political parties. Liberals prey on people at a time of extreme emotional vulnerability and offer them fame and fortune to be that month’s purveyor of hate. Victory goes to the most hysterical.

    By embracing phony prophets, liberals strip away any honesty and credibility they may have once had with the public. Unlike Christians, liberals can't shield themselves from criticism by referring to their most outspoken nuts as just a small group of fringe leaders. On the contrary, their leaders are writing curriculum for public schools, cloning obnoxious "apple-polishers" at colleges and universities and intimidating small towns with baseless lawsuits.

    In the aptly titled chapter, "The Liberal Priesthood: Spare the Rod, Spoil the Teacher," Coulter peels back the political correctness surrounding the public education bureaucracy, "We are simultaneously supposed to gasp in awe at teachers' raw dedication and be forced to listen to their incessant caterwauling about how they don't make enough money. Well, which is it? Are they dedicated to teaching or are they in it for the money? After all the carping about how little teachers are paid, if someone enters the teaching profession for the big bucks, aren't they too stupid to be teaching our kids?"

    Books like The Professors, Brainwashed and The Shadow University, exposed liberals' stranglehold on college campuses. But it wasn't until 10th-grader Sean Allen taped his world geography teacher's rant against President Bush that many Americans woke up to the reality of what is going on in K-12 public schools. During his world geography class, Jay Bennish engaged in a 20 minute tirade against President Bush and America, leading to the unoriginal conclusion that Bush is like Hitler. Coulter writes, "Anyone who uses this adolescent cliché should not be in the tenth grade, much less teaching it." Congratulations, Jay Bennish, this clever observation makes you qualified to replace a nose-pierced barista at Starbucks!

    Comparing priests and teachers, Coulter notes, "The worst scandal to hit the real churches in 20 years is the priest child-molestation scandal -- which pales in comparison to the teacher child-molestation problem." By comparing studies done on the number of children sexually abused by priests and those sexually abused by teachers and accounting for unreported cases, Coulter concludes that there are roughly 821 children abused by priests per year and 32,000 children abused by educators per year. Given the increasingly explicit sex-education curriculum foisted on children and the incessant assurance from "experts" like Dr. Jocelyn Elders and U.S. Surgeon General C. Everett Koop that it’s OK for children to be sexual beings, it’s no wonder that predatory teachers treat them as such.

    Much of Godless exposes the contempt that liberals have for science, especially as it relates to disproving their religious doctrine. Using their strategy of capitalizing on sympathetic messengers, liberals counter science by parading Christopher Reeves, Michael J. Fox and the Reagan family in order to distract from the evidence favoring adult stem cell research over embryonic stem cell research. Coulter puts together an impressive list of successful achievements using adult stem cells, including repairing spinal cord injuries, treating sickle-cell anemia, restoring bone marrow in cancer patients, restoring eye sight and repairing weakened heart muscles. However, adult stem cell research does lack one crucial element -- it doesn't involve the destruction of life. Coulter writes, "At least embryonic stem-cell researchers have a clear financial incentive to lie about adult stem-cell research. Liberals just want to kill humans. … Stem-cell research on embryos is an even worse excuse for the slaughter of life than abortion. No woman is even being spared an inconvenience this time."

    The final chapters of Godless should be required reading for all science classes, much like Treason should be required for all American history classes. Coulter illustrates why evolution is so important to the church of liberalism, "Liberals' creation myth is Charles Darwin's theory of evolution, which is about one notch above Scientology in scientific rigor. It's a make-believe story, based on a theory that is a tautology, with no proof in the scientist's laboratory or the fossil record -- and that's after 150 years of very determined looking. We wouldn't still be talking about it but for the fact that liberals' think evolution disproves God."

    With the help of the ACLU, liberals and their lawsuits have intimidated school districts into teaching evolution or what Coulter calls -- quoting mathematician David Berlinski -- "the last of the 19th century mystery religions." It's the equivalent of pointing and yelling, "Witch!" In Dover, Pa., a small group of parents backed by the ACLU and Americans United for Separation of Church and State sued the school district to prevent the teaching of intelligent design in a high school biology class. The judge ruled in their favor and the school district was ordered to pay the plaintiffs' legal fees, in excess of $1 million. Coulter explains, "After Dover, no school district will dare breathe a word about 'intelligent design,’ unless they want to risk being bankrupted by ACLU lawsuits. The Darwinists have saved the secular sanctity of their temples: the public schools. They didn't win on science, persuasion, or the evidence. They won the way liberals always win: by finding a court to hand them everything they want on a silver platter."

    For those of us who had to endure countless viewings of "Inherit the Wind" when biology teachers had a hangover and needed the lights off, Coulter gives the true history behind the Scopes trial in Dayton, Tenn. This phony trial was conceived by civic leaders and the ACLU, who agreed upfront to pay for costs incurred by the defense and the prosecution. Coulter writes, "The rest of Tennessee was not so thrilled with Dayton's public relations stunt. Chattanooga Congressman Foster V. Brown summarized the whole affair when he said the trial was 'not a fight for evolution or against evolution, but a fight against obscurity.'"

    Liberals weren't the first to use Darwinism to justify a political movement. After reading "The Origin of Species," Karl Marx wrote, "This is the book which contains the basis in natural history for our views." Coulter writes, "While Marx saw the 'struggle' as among classes, Hitler conceived of the struggle as among the races. 'Mein Kampf' means 'My Struggle,' which Hitler described in unmistakably Darwinian terms."

    From Darwinism to Nazism to Liberalism -- finally, some proof in favor of evolution!

    In the mockumentary, "This is Spinal Tap," one of the band members points out to a journalist that while most amp volume knobs go to 10, theirs go to 11. To borrow from the philosophy of Spinal Tap, Godless is Coulter at 11 -- at her funniest and most insightful. In How to Talk to Liberal (If You Must), Coulter writes, "People don't get angry when lies are told about them; they get angry when the truth is told about them." Perhaps the best compliment one can give to Godless is that it will totally enrage liberals.

    But, please, I beg you, report me right this second. Lottsa luck you little bluffer. Report Clif while you're at it.

    Now watch Carl crawl back into his cave and assume a fetal position.

    But I do admire Carl's sincerity. I know he care's soooo much about the rights of Ann Coulter.

    Carl, I notice your little Avian Flu blog has lots of unattribted copies of news articles. Maybe you should report yourself, but to whom? I can see Carl now, calling 911 and reporting a non-existent copyright violation. Maybe they'll send a SWAT team.

    Be a man and tell the truth: you didn't like what Ann Coulter had to say so created some other spurious reason to object to her words being posted here.

    That's what happened, and you know it, I know it, and anyone else here with an ounce of intellectual honesty knows it.

    So Carl (AKA the "Bluffer") did you call 911 yet? Did you ask for a SWAT team.

    What a little faker.

    At least Worf has the courage to attack an idea with which he disagrees with his own opnions. I may disagree with him, but I respect that.

    Carl, on the other hand, just wants to silence ideas he disagrees with.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Anonymous10:13 AM

    Actually, Worf, that's one area where I disagree with Coulter.

    I say teach science in school, and let the parents take some responsibilty in deciding what to teach kids about religion and/or spiritualty (or atheism or agosticism, etc.).

    We don't need schools teaching our kids about the gay agenda, nor do we need them teaching our kids about a belief or nonbelief in God.

    There are just some things that should be left to parents, in my opinion, but many parents are too lazy to take their kids to their preferred place of worship, or to talk to them about the birds and the bees. Parents need to start being parents again and stop asking schools to do things that parents ought to be doing.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Anonymous10:44 AM

    Worf writes:
    "A. What law would you propose to compell parents to take their kids to a place of worship?

    "B. How is it the governments job to compell parents to talk to their kids about sex?"

    With regard to "A," I am not calling for any law. I am calling for parents to be parents and not ask schools to do the things parents ought to be doing. If you want to raise your kids with a religious background, then take them to a house of worship. If you are an atheist or agnostic, then don't. We don't need a law for this. This ought to be common sense for any responsible parent who cares about their kids.

    With regard to "B," it's pretty much the same thing. If you want to tell your kids that premarital sex is ok, then do so. If you think otherwise, instill those values in your children. We don't need any more laws to enforce basic common sense parenting.

    My gripe is that too many parents want to leave these jobs to schools, and my point is that these things should not be left to schools, and schools should do what schools do best, which is to teach, instruct, and impart knowledge.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Anonymous11:13 AM

    Worf, there are many "shoulds" in the world. Not all of them require a law. We should be nice to our neighbors, we shouldn't lie to our friends, etc., but none of these "shoulds" are codified into law, nor do they need to be.

    Just because I "call" for something doesn't mean that it must be backed up by force of law. As it stands, the organized teaching of religion in public schools is unconstitutional by virtue of the Establishment Clause.

    Now, what's your solution?

  41. Field commanders tell Pentagon Iraq war 'is lost'
    By DOUG THOMPSON
    Jun 5, 2006, 07:13

    Military commanders in the field in Iraq admit in private reports to the Pentagon the war "is lost" and that the U.S. military is unable to stem the mounting violence killing 1,000 Iraqi civilians a month.

    Even worse, they report the massacre of Iraqi civilians at Haditha is "just the tip of the iceberg" with overstressed, out-of-control Americans soldiers pushed beyond the breaking point both physically and mentally.

    "We are in trouble in Iraq," says retired army general Barry McCaffrey. "Our forces can't sustain this pace, and I'm afraid the American people are walking away from this war."

    Marine Gen. Peter Pace, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, has clamped a tight security lid on the increasingly pessimistic reports coming out of field commanders in Iraq, threatening swift action against any military personnel who leak details to the press or public.

    Army moving ahead with brigade deployment to Iraq that was put on hold in May

    ASSOCIATED PRESS

    WASHINGTON, June 7 — An Army brigade whose deployment to Iraq was put on hold just last month is now preparing to ship its vehicles and other equipment for an expected one-year tour of duty, a defense official said Wednesday.

    The move suggests that American commanders are sticking largely to their original plan for troop rotations this summer, leaving unclear when and if a sizable reduction in U.S. troop levels will begin this year. The top U.S. commander in Iraq, Gen. George Casey, had said last year that he expected ''fairly substantial'' reductions this spring and summer so long as progress on the political and security fronts remained on track.
    There are about 132,000 U.S. troops in Iraq.
    On May 8, the Pentagon announced that the 2nd Brigade of the 1st Infantry Division, based at Schweinfurt, Germany, would not begin its deployment to Iraq as scheduled. It said the brigade, with about 3,500 soldiers, was receiving a revised deployment date but did not disclose the date. It also said the delayed deployment reflected a desire by U.S. commanders to assess the security situation and consult with Iraqi officials.
    Since then violence, including sectarian strife, has not abated. The new Iraqi government also has yet to select ministers of defense or interior — who would oversee the Iraqi army and police.
    Although the brigade in Germany has begun loading its equipment for shipment to Iraq, a final decision on sending the soldiers is pending, the official said, adding that it likely would be made this week. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss troop movement plans publicly.

    You know a story about how the US Military is sending troops toi Iraq to keep the troop strength up because it is a fiasco which shows no signs of abating...and the Iraqi's has let another deadline slip by with no Defence or interior minister...thus no "Working" government 6 months after the 'mother of all elections' which was supposed to create a glorius central government which would have all Iraqi's praising us for the "democracy" we brought them at the end of a M16 and kill those who get in the way...or might be close by when some go off on a shooting rant.

  63. Conservative Utopia? We Don't Have To Guess

    http://www.boomantribune.com/story/2006/6/7/125023/5706

    The world has never seen what a liberal one looks like.

    The world has never seen what can happen when the Common Good is emphasized over the Power of Elites, while maintaining a capitalist system and freedom of innovation.

    The world has never seen what can happen when racism is completely eliminated.

    the world has never seen what can happen when the stain of religious intolerance has been wiped clean.

    The world has never seen what can happen when military is only used to keep the peace and prevent brutality, instead of to prop up evil dictators and corporatist regimes.

    The world has never seen what can happen when government is completely transparent.

    The world has never seen these things because it requires people to appeal to the better angels of their nature--and because our basest instincts are easy to appeal to for political gain by corrupt elites.

    The world HAS seen, however, what "Conservative" Utopia looks like. We don't have to guess about that.

    The world has seen what a nation looks like where:

    the government does not regulate business;

    where the government's primary responsibility is enforcement of public morality;

    where local control is prioritized over federal control;

    where taxes are virtually nonexistent;

    where every citizen not only has the right to, but DOES carry a gun--in public;

    where military spending is over 90% of the budget;

    where the only social safety net is through religious organizations;

    where the nation's leaders claim authority straight from God, and rely solely on religious doctrine for their legal authority;

    where women's obligation is to bear children and be subservient to their husbands, with no access to abortion;

    where public education does not exist, and is restricted solely to private and homeschool--usually religious;

    where foreigners are viewed with deep suspicion;

    where all other priorities are sacrificed at the altar of military victory;

    where "indecent art" is not tolerated by the government;

    and where "pre-emptive strikes" are not only tolerated, but encouraged.

    We have already SEEN what that looks like. We don't have to guess.

    It looks like AFGHANISTAN, PRE-9/11. It looks like THIS.

    http://www.rawa.org/gallery.html

    ----------------------------------

    So next time a "Conservative" like Ann Coulter tells you to just pack up and leave the country if you don't like the way George Bush does things, tell him or her this: I'm not leaving. You already HAVE a country to go to that believes in your ideology. Go there. I'm still trying to create one that believes in mine--and so was Thomas Jefferson.

    Tell them, in other words, to go to hell. Because their hell already exists on earth.

    ReplyDelete
  64. And for a current assesment of Afghanistan...

    - George Bush has broken every promise he made to the people of Afghanistan. In 2001 he said he would remove the Taliban, establish order, and rebuild the country along the lines of the Marshall Plan.

    He lied on all accounts.

    The Taliban have reclaimed southern Afghanistan, reconstruction has been miniscule, and there’s been no attempt to establish security beyond the capital of Kabul. Afghanistan continues to languish in grinding poverty with less clean water and electricity than before the war. It is a failed narco-state with 99% of the countryside under the iron-grip of the regional warlords and drug-kingpins.

    http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article13519.htm

    A very chilling paragraph;

    Last week, rioting broke out in Kabul when the brakes on an army transport went out and the vehicle plowed headfirst into crowded traffic. 2 civilians were killed. The incident turned into a spontaneous demonstration of anti-Americanism which quickly escalated into a bloodbath. Trigger-happy American soldiers fired into the crowd killing 8 civilians. Many readers will recall that a similar incident took place in Falluja in 2003 which had grave long-term implications for the US occupation. Angry Fallujans took to the streets to protest the appointment of the city’s mayor by American forces. The crowd was irate but nonviolent. Never the less, inexperienced US troops overreacted, as they did in Kabul, and fired into the crowd killing 14 civilians. The incident soured the people on the occupation and became a powerful recruitment tool for the nascent Iraqi resistance. Three years later we can look at that day’s violence as a turning point in the course of events in Iraq and the genesis of the resistance. Now Iraq is embroiled in a full-scale war and the outcome is far from certain.

    Washington’s honeymoon in Afghanistan is over. The violence has resumed in the south and the dormant forces of political discontent are brewing in Kabul. America is sleepwalking into another catastrophe while Afghans are gearing up for their second Intifada in a generation.

    In other words they are about to do to us what they did to the Soviet Union....

  68. AP Updated: 2:23 p.m. MT June 7, 2006
    WASHINGTON - New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton lashed out at Ann Coulter for a “vicious, mean-spirited attack” on a group of outspoken 9/11 widows, whom the right-wing television pundit described as “self-obsessed” and enjoying their husbands’ deaths.

    The women, who are still pushing for changes in how the government guards against future attacks, issued a joint statement after Coulter’s television appearance.

    “We have been slandered. Contrary to Ms. Coulter’s statements, there was no joy in watching men that we loved burn alive. There was no happiness in telling our children that their fathers were never coming home again. We adored these men and miss them every day,” the women said.

    Coulter writes in a new book, “Godless: The Church of Liberalism,” that a group of New Jersey widows whose husbands perished in the World Trade Center act “as if the terrorist attacks happened only to them.”

    She also wrote, “I’ve never seen people enjoying their husbands’ deaths so much.”

    But no, I can't criticize... I no longer have freedom of speech because I didn't lose anyone dear to me.... "

    Whose being political here voltaire, that waste of skin Coulter is trying to twist the truth to discredit some grieving widows who dont like How our president used 9/11 and the death of their husbands to implement their power grabbing megalomaniac agenda.

    Its obvious that Coulter is trying to portray them as political and try to imply that they are using their grief and tragedy to make it difficult for repugs to attack them, but did you ever think maybe they are not political maybe they see what happened as a result of 9/11 like the assaults on our personal freedoms and constitutional rights, the destruction of the checks and balances established by our forefathers to stop one branch of government from becoming too powerful as well as the way Bush desires to turn our country into an Orwellian Police State, not to mention the Massacre's of children and civilians in Iraq the circumve3ntion of the Geneva Convention and the torture, imprisonment without cause or due process and other various human rights violations being utilized by these fools.

    Ever consider they are not political at all just people who dont like the direction our leaders are taking our country in the name of the tragedy that killed their husbands, and who feel it neccessary to speak out so the deaths of their loved ones were not in vain.

    Answer me this though, if 9/11 is so important that everything the Bush Administration does and says is based on 9/11 and Bush defines his whole presidency by it and calls anyone who questions him or his policies unpatriotic, doesnt it seem a little riddiculous, unpatriotic and disrespectful to say that some widows whose loved ones died are happy about it, I mean that debunks the credibility and sincereity of coulter's arguments more than anything I could say, I mean its kind of insulting if you actually think about it, all I know is if I were married and a fool like Coulter had the audacity to say I was glad my wife died, i'd want to see the bitch with a slug in her head or decapitated like or blown to smithereans like the people she slanders, too bad for her she would end up in a different place, a much hotter one where she would feel right at home.

  106. Answer me this Voltaire, if you been crying about how important 9/11 is and how unpatriotic attacking the presidents policies are for politics how the hell can you attack a couple of widows who lost their husbands, if her arguments/points are so credible why does she have to attack people who suffered as a result of the tragedy,arent her arguments strong enough to stand on their own without personal attacks and trying to discredit the oppositions point of view.

    From my experience people who attempt to attack or discredit others or deflect the issues instead of focus on them usually have a self serving agenda and weak incoherent arguments that cant stand on their own merits hence they turn to deception subterfuge and personal attacks and demonizing the opposition.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Voltaire said "Mike, not EVERYONE believes that.

    And who did they attack personally, they may have spoken out about the Bush Administration's policies but they didnt attack bush's family. Coulter attacked the widows personally and through some supposed form of clairivoyance, with absolutely no evidence to support her argument stated that "THEY WERE GLAD THEIR HUSBANDS WERE DEAD"

    You tell me how this waste of skin should be considered credible, for spewing disrespectful BS with NO EVIDENCE to back up what she says, she is a disgrace and a laughingstock

    And no I would not use a death as as an unassailable point of view, thats the ReichWings style, they used 9/11 as an unassailable rallying cry to do what ever they damn well pleased in the nane of protecting us or the common good, and they demonized anyone as unpatriotic or in league with the terrororists who disagreed with them because their arguments were too weak to hold up in honest debate.

  127. Voltair it is because of the bad which just keeps coming in spades that I speak out so much...if you read the truth about Falugha in early 2004 you will see that the Military commanders and CPA did not even try democracy there...they just APPOINTED somebody Mayor not even considering the wishes of the local citizens...and when the locals protested troops opened fire killing over a dozen civilians protesting the lack of any democracy...this happened right before the "attack" on the mercenaries there...which is the start of the insurgency...it is the fooles who sent almost half a million americans sons and daughters with NO plan for actual victory...or follow on to combat operations...which are necessary if you have any idea what you want to do once you take the place...by the end of the CPA they had blown their chances for a peaceful solution to the situation in Iraq because they enabled the insurgents with every heavy handed bungle they did ...like by passing irregular troops in the rush to Baghdad to not guarding the vast amounts of ammo and weapons...two things that have directally led to US soldiers deaths...because the bypassed irregulars used the unguarded weapons and ammo to attack the troops

    But Bush Rummyt and Cheney should not be called out on their imcompetence by mothers who lost their sons...or widows who lost their husbands because you fooles think you got it right?

    give me a break...you fooles have screwed this up as bad as vietnam and have afghanistan falling apart now, it is the GI's on the ground who will really pay the price..and that is why I for one will point out the fooles that you have become in your lied illegal war to give the PNAC crowd their bases in the mideast

  128. Voltaire said "How patriotic can you possibly be when you guys get big fat chubbies over EVERY single smear article that some hack puts out and gleefully dwell on it for years on end.
    And do you ever post a retraction when you're proven wrong?...NO and the damage is already done..."

    First of all exactly what damage is done, seems to me you guys hiding behind your supposed patriotism and bravery in an attempt to stifle our freedom to speak up and disagree is hiding behind a pretend unassailable position a million times more than the widows you guys attempt to attack and discredit.

    But the difference is I defend your right to speak your mind and challenge the widows argument via honest debate however I condemn your trying to smear and discredit them with lies like they are glad their husbands are dead, I would like to see one shred of evidence to support this other than Coulters clairavoyance that this is how they feel.

    See you guys know your arguments are weak hence the character assassination and lies, time to man up and open your eyes oltaire and see who is really trying to surpress free speach, hell coulter said women dont deserve the right to vote, does that sound like an advocate of free speech and open debate or someone trying to supress the voice of the people.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Voltair I have no Surrender wish...just a wish that if the fooles are gonna start a war they Go to somebody who actually has expierence in fighting one and get SOLID advise about how to run one...you don't do it by undermanning the invasion....or underfunding the start...or quieting criticisms because they might show your plan is something an idiot wouild choose...like an invaded country will gvreet the invaders as liberators...you do not plan an invasion that way...

    A military motto I was taught was plan for the worst expect the unexpected...and you will not get to suprised...also timeetables are no good if the enemy resistance if fiercer than expected...bypassing them to be at the objective at a specific tiome is ludicrus, and you do not "secure" a country with minimal forces...sort of the same thing Bush has been doing on ouyr southern border...can't he just admit he really does not know and get competent adult leadership instead of the political bloviating and spin to foole 51% of the voters.....which he does not even have now

    Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al- Maliki will make a "very important announcement" at a news conference in Baghdad due to start at 10:30 a.m. (0730 GMT) on Thursday, the U.S. military said.
    In a statement sent to the media, the press office of U.S.- led forces in Iraq said about Maliki's expected announcement, "it is very significant news."

    http://famulus.msnbc.com/famulusintl/reuters06-07-231102.asp?reg=mideast&vts=6720062333

    Yea like they FINALLY have a complete government just six months after they voted...and it will live inside the green zone so they can pretend the actually are in charge of Iraq...the part protected by the US troops

    They will do in Baghdad like Karzai does in Kabul where he pretends to be in charge of Afghanistan the parts that are not being reconquered by the Taliban... or overseen by the warlords who grow the poppies for heroin export....

    But the people who live in the town and villages of Iraq are still on their own sort of like those who were stuck inside New Orleans after Katrina.

    And the sectarian violence does not seem to be diminishing...nor does much appear to be getting accomplished to get the normal Iraqi's water..electricity..or security...

    but the largest Embassy in the world is ON schedule and has all the electrical power and water resources they need...

    The American Brigade from zGermany seems to be getting ready to deploy to Iraq thus no downsizing of the American troop levels yet...even though they "hinted" at it before the diversion of the immigration debate before the diversion of the anti gay marriage admendment which preceeds the diversion of the flag burning admendment, none of which will do anything to make the troops asafer..or bring them home one day sooner

    Most of the insurgents are Iraqi’s tired of the occupation not foriegn fighters like Al Zarqawi and they are fighting between Sunni-Shites...Kurds Turkman...backed by Iran..saudi arabia,,Jordan...Syria,,,Turkey,

    “The Zarqawi PSYOP program is the most successful information campaign to date.” — Brig. Gen. Mark Kimmitt, in an internal 2004 memo praising the propaganda campaign to hype the threat of Iraq’s “terrorist mastermind” Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.

    ast summer, Col. Derek Harvey — a top military intelligence officer in Iraq and who handled Iraq intel for the Joint Chiefs of Staff — told a gathering of Army brass that Zarqawi’s violence represented “a very small part of the actual numbers . . . The long-term threat is not Zarqawi or religious extremists, but these former regime types and their friends.”

    Harvey continued, “Our own focus on Zarqawi has enlarged his caricature, if you will — made him more important than he really is.

    Zarqawi is their characture..and they can now spin it to try to get the poll numbers back up…and bring the wingnuts out in force

    Zarqawi, Spinning in His Grave
    Right now, I'm in the media room at YearlyKos, listening to liberal bloggers and activists fret about how to spin the killing of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.

    Some snippets:

    "We are constantly bashed on the right for not supporting the military."
    "We can't say 'yes, but'." As in, yes it's good Zarqawi is dead, but . . .

    "Why have we not gotten Osama?"

    "Zarqawi is not about Iraq." As in, the real reason we wanted him dead was the USS Cole bombing.

    "We're talking to the 98 percent of the unwashed who don't know what the Cole is." In response to above.

    "If we'd followed Clinton's anti-terrorism plan, we would have gotten Zarqawi years ago." As in, without going into Iraq.

    "If you keep looking for someone long enough, you'll find him.

    Nope. No way to spin this one.

    Heartless Nazi Hell Bitch Ann Coulter Strikes Again

    When the 9/11 widows appeared at the commission hearings held in their honor, tearfully clutching photos of their dead husbands as the TV cameras swung their way, and bursting into wails of despair whenever a Republican senator attempted to speak, the whole nation cried with them. Ann Coulter, however, had nothing but sneers of contempt for these brave womyn, and still does. On her recent Today Show appearance, Coulter went so far as to insinuate that the Joisey Grrlz are merely celebrity-seeking pity whores for the Democrat Party. Well, that’s like printing their grief onto toilet paper and wiping her ass with it.

    If the men who perished in the 9/11 attacks died for anything at all, it was so that their wives could beat people over the head with it whenever their political motives are questioned. Indeed, having lost loved ones in the attacks makes one’s opinions on the war above reproach – as long as they are decidely anti-war opinions. By refusing to allow their frequently televised grief to be used as a weapon against her, Ann not only belittles the insufferable pain of the only four 9/11 widows who really matter, but insults the memory of every single little Eichmann who died in those towers.

    Although I disagree with everything that comes out of Coulter’s festering, hate-filled maw, I made it a point to be polite and respectful in my scathing review of her book yesterday. Now that I am starting to learn what’s actually in it, I regret having held back.

    If you happen to make it to see Lydia's show this weekend - she said she put your names on the list to comp you guys a ticket. She asked me what days you were going to go. I told her I didn't know just that you (Mike) had mentioned you would probably be there this weekend. I told her I was guessing you would be there either Friday or Saturday (obviously today or tomorrow - it was last night when I had this conversation with her). I also told her I didn't know if Mike & Larry are you real names etc. so she asked me to log on here to let you know she just listed you both as "Mike" and "Larry" if I remember correctly I think she also included a spot for you each to bring one other person.

    For you and everyone else - to let you know what it was like getting to see her and her show. The show is awesome. Lydia's and Destiny's Deprived Wives act is hilarious.
    They are both super sweet people and they are both very beautiful. :D

    Of course you realize their being deprived is merely an illusion.
    If they were my girlfriends they most certainly would'nt be deprived.

    I offer lots of housework that includes nothing but the best cleaning sponges, dusting rags, and scrub brushes. I would even consider purchasing a high quality mop for correct attitude and good work.

  170. We have learned nothing. Or specifically, Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld have learned nothing. The number of dead, Iraqis and American soldiers is about to increase dramatically as our armed forces prepare to do to Ramadi what they did to Fallujah:

    BAGHDAD — Fears of an imminent offensive by the U.S. troops massed around the insurgent stronghold of Ramadi intensified Saturday, with residents pouring out of the city to escape what they describe as a mounting humanitarian crisis.

    The image pieced together from interviews with tribal leaders and fleeing families in recent weeks is one of a desperate population of 400,000 people trapped in the crossfire between insurgents and U.S. forces. Food and medical supplies are running low, prices for gas have soared because of shortages and municipal services have ground to a stop.

    U.S. and Iraqi forces had cordoned off the city by Saturday, residents and Iraqi officials said. Airstrikes on several residential areas picked up, and troops took to the streets with loudspeakers to warn civilians of a fierce impending attack, Ramadi police Capt. Tahseen Dulaimi said.

    Lydia and Destiny were great, I also liked Mike Marino, Larry Reeb who was supposed to be the headliner We didnt really care for or find that funny Lyd/Destiny or Mike Marino should have been the headliners, we sat in the front row, and he was really picking on my companion and giving her a hard time, after the show we were supposed to take a few pics and chat with Lyd a little before saying goodbye, but Lordes was extremely upset and stormed out, I told her that we couldnt just leave without saying goodbye to Lydia, that it would be a slap in the face and she would think we hated the show or did care about seeing her, but she said she had to get out of there and kept walking so I initially started running back to tell Lyd why we were leaving and realized that Lordes wasnt going to wait and that I couldnt let her walk back to the hotel alone, so I left without saying goodbye to Lydia and just felt terrible, I felt like I let a friend down and just felt like an insect and didnt sleep the whole night.

    I explained to Lydia what happened the next day and she was wonderful, Lydia is one of the nicest, coolest and most interesting persons you could ever meet, I could have chatted with her an entire day if time allowed.

    Lourdes was also wonderful, after I explained that because of what happened I had to go back and chat with Lydia, take a few pics and say a proper goodbye the next night or I couldnt live with myself.

    We also had a great time visiting the nice hotels and buffets, doing a little gambling and we went to this racetrack where you can test all kinds off fast cars or off road cars like vettes, GTO's supercharged caddys, hummers, etc.. and drive them on this track, they let the person in front of you get to the first turn which was about halfway around the track and then they let you start, after 3 laps, I was lapping people that where allready halfway around the track, the drivers where saying that I really have the track down and drive good, and were asking if I was a professional race car driver, one time they even turned off the traction control and I was leaving rubber and sliding around some of the turns, it was awesome.

    Just to put things in perspective it was an awesome trip, I really had a great time and that one little incident was a small part of what was a wonderful trip.

  172. BTW, that sign on the main blog with Lyd and all the other comedian's names on it was on the way from my hotel to hers, I must have passed it like 10-20 times, I even think I snapped a pic of it as well.

    I also got some good pics of Lydia and the rest of the trip that i'll try to get developed tomorrow.

    I would have liked to see Lydia and Destiny's portion of the show a second time, but by the time I got back the second night their act was over so I hung out outside and talked with Lydia between her anouncing and introductions. (Lydia introduced everyone and served as the anouncer). Another thing that was really cool was how right after I said to Lydia, that she still looks pretty much the same as the TCFC days and that I would recognize her on the street instantly, at least 10 other people said the exact same thing right after I did.

  173. Thanks Rene, Lydia said the same thing that she would have comped us tickets but I had allready bought tickets, didnt matter though, I really enjoyed the majority of the show, it was definately worth it.

    forever in Chatrooms and weblogs huh?????, i've NEVER gone to a chatroom and have no desire to, and name one blog I go to besides this one genius. See i'll make it real simple so even a Simple Simon like you can understand, Michael is the most popular name in the world, just because you see the name Mike in one of the smarmy chatrooms you frequent doesnt mean its me, BTW mr sucessful, whats a big rich tough guy like you doing going to chatrooms and blogs the hold dissenting views you dont believe in, isnt your time more important than that?

    BTW, what are you doing in chatrooms????, are you trolling (no pun intended) for minors like many of the right wing pedophiles who have been arrested recently.

  176. Mike:

    I'm glad you and Lordes had a great time for the most part (Other than the Uncle Lar/Larry Reeb act.)

    I agree Lydia and Destiny should've been the headliners.

    I also agree Lydia does look great and so does Destiny! They were both super sweet and really down to earth. I had a great time talking with both of them. :D

    Where is that race track at that you wrote about? I'd love to check it out on my next trip there.

    As for modern technology...I love that I can take my lap top with me on trips like this. Too bad the WiFi was down at times though. I actually wasn't feeling well a couple of days out there so it was nice to be able to download my pics and check my email while indoors for a couple of days. No, it wasn't from drinking too much. It was more like a Monster drink + McD's grilled chicken club=Big Mistake/Stomach ache & headache from you know where!

    Gee Mike, I almost feel bad for not going....Moo Moo would have enjoyed rescuing your lady friend from that nasty, mean ol comic.

    I have to be honest, I enjoy watching comics pick on the suckers in the front row. I do, however, bring relief to their sufferings by picking on the comic myself.

    Didnt you defend her?

    Never sit in the front row if your easily offended....its a comedy club, not Disneyland!!

    Andrew Dice Clay, now theres a toughie.

  178. Dont be jealous Worf, you and I will catch the next show. We'll have a few drinks and start ripping comic turban.

    Afterwards we'll let Lydia and Destiny take us to Taco Bell or something.

    I suspect Lydia's show bashes men...thus my 5:27 am post.

    I see you prepared yourself for any hecklers who might have given Lydia's show a hard time.

    Cool pic!

    yeah, it would have been cool if you were there johnny, it would have been funny to see you give him a hard time, I actually thought about you during that part of the show. And no, i didnt say anything, i'm kinda shy around big crowds like that.

  181. That race track is right in back of the Saharra (where I stayed) not Las Vegas BLVD but that street in back what ever its called, you just come out of the Saharra, cross the street and its right there.

    Does she ever get political?

    Or is all like marriage stuff?'

    a lot of marriage stuff, but there was some political stuff in the show I caught, i meant to ask Lydia if she threw that in there just because I was there or if she did the same routine for all the shows, i'll have to ask her when she's back on the blog, she did say she would have liked to do more political humor though so there is a chance she stuck the political stuff in for that show.

    Thanks for sharing the details of the trip and the show.

    Its sounds like it was so much fun. I am jealous.

    Why did your wife get so upset?

    Women. LOL. Her name is Lourdes? Is she from England or something?

    Did you go to see the daily KOS thingy? Did Lydia?

    "Did you ride your motorcycle out there? I guess not with the wife huh?"

    Wife?? LOL, nope, i'm still single with no thoughts of getting married for probably at least 5-10 years, I think too many people jump into marriage because they dont feel comfortable being alone or think its what they are "supposed" to do and thats why divorce rates are so high. when I do finally settle down though it will be with a real independent woman (like Lourdes)who loves to travel a lot and has lots of friends and hobbies and accepts me the way I am , I need my occasional guys nights/days out to play poker or go riding with my buddies that stuffs in my blood and I could never just give it up.

    I think she got upset because he really focused on her and was primarily picking on her, she grew up in Los Angelos and moved to Texas, I think Lourdes is just a version of Lori our Laura, may be hispanic in origin?? i'll have to ask her, its a fairly popular name out here, although I never heard it till I moved to Texas either.

    I didnt see the daily Kos but Lydia did, and like she said she spoke with Jimmy Carter's Son and Went on Progressive Talk Radio. she was really busy, up till 4AM working still, like me, she probably needs a relaxing vacation to decompress from her trip. I hope she takes some time to enjoy herself when she gets back then spend a little more time on the blog if she's able to, I really miss her posts and weekly blog updates, and i'm looking forward to her book.

    Does Lydia's show bash men? And how big was the crowd?

    I agree 100% with your marriage analogy Mike, however, its a mistake to wait until your almost fifty to have kids and get married.....you'll be an old grumpy fart with a sore back unable to keep pace with energetic kids.

    Your lady friend will laugh about it one day Mikey...LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  187. No, I wouldnt say their act bashes men, more like it pokes fun at their husbands and old boyfriends, I couldnt see Lydia doing anti-men/manbasher type material, it was more in fun, oprah does that arogant anti-men type stuff and I really cant stand her.

    each comic had such a different style, Lydia and Destiny were cute, it was more goodnatured banter back and forth with some funny stories thrown in, mike Marino was real fast paced and he worked the crowd real good, and larry reeb was more raunchy and insulting.

  188. You guys dont know what suffering is until your married. Watching a female apply makeup for two hours and complain about unmanageable hair, gets to ya; especially when it consistently makes you late for an appointment.

    I'm ready to go in five seconds...I simply put on my hat after combing my hair for a few seconds.

    I mean, is it really necessary to look like your going to a beauty contest to get stupid groceries?
