WE BEGGED BUSH NOT TO BOMB FALLUJAH OR START WAR IN IRAQ!! A Vision of Peace

Just received another smear in the comment section from Ann Coulter herself, or her apologist. This woman is never held accountable for inciting violence against people. Any other person who uses the media and airwaves for the perverse things she does, would be kicked off for even ONE of her bigoted comments. What kind of human being operates like this? Holding criminals accountable is part of Coulter's mission, isn't it? Then she should be held accountable for the death threats I received -- and for the abusive phone calls I am still receiving. I can turn the other cheek, but I wouldn't be worth much if I didn't hold her accountable.

Coulter is just a symbol of a decaying democracy, a symbol of the worst things about America right now. I am not interested in Coulter per se, I am interested in what she represents -- in how our culture enables this kind of destructive person not only to profit, but to bludgeon anyone who disagrees with her -- and somehow sway voters into believing you can't be patriotic if you don't support this "war". And she uses the airwaves to spread her propaganda like a bulldozer, with virtually no allowance for rebuttal. Has America really come to this: worshipping bully behavior and swaying voters to forsake common decency and civilized discourse? Fox network does not allow anyone to come on and tell the other side; O'Reilly and Hannity & Colmes do not allow rebuttal or diverse opinions when Coulter is on their shows. And we wonder about a system that allows media monopoly! Coulter came on and was allowed to play the victim and frame the entire UConn uproar in her own terms -- without a single student being allowed on Fox to tell their reasons for protesting her appearance.

I wrote to her thinking her public persona was probably just an act, as many people assume -- and that on a level of one citizen to another, one woman to another -- she would respond with dignity instead of publishing this comment: "Death is certainly sexier than Lydia Cornell" along my private phone number & e-mail! Several people have mentioned that this could be a sort of "code" to her fans -- advocating violence against me. What kind of human being behaves like this? A loving Christian woman? And you say I should not bring it up again. I want Coulter or her web host to remove my personal information, e-mail and home phone number off her website and apologize for her heinous statement to me. This is a serious issue and I still can't believe the Alachua Republican Party hasn't posted a statement on their website, admonishing Coulter for doing this. On Friday I was supposed to do Georgetown University Radio show, but their phones weren't working, so I listened to Anthony Bonna discuss the issue -- and I couldn't even comment. Although Anthony Bonna said some very nice things, he has no idea what I am still going through as a result of all this. He is not a mother nor is Coulter. She has no idea what it's like to care about the safety of your children or loved ones. My family and children have had that phone number for 15 years. Why should I have to change their number and live in constant fear now that someone has my home address? As I stated before, a man angrily appeared at my door the day after she posted it, and my kids had to duck down and hide inside our house.

Clarification: I received a letter from a guy named "REDNECK" saying that my article title was cruel. (Death is Sexier than Sex...to Ann Coulter.) I thought this was obvious, but since we live in an age where readers take everything literally and have no sense of nuance -- I will explain: my title is not meant to be anything but a play on words. After all, how can anything be sexier than sex? Well in this day and age, it seems only extreme graphic violence gets our attention. My kids are begging for "Halo", but I won't let them play such a violent video game. Reality TV is based on humiliating people; Jerry Springer gets high ratings because people like to watch people fighting. Ann Coulter incites people to anger with her 'hate-speak". If she stopped her name-calling and her outrageously extreme statements -- like advocating the assassination of Bill Clinton, wishing Timothy McVeigh had also blown up the New York Times building and using a baseball bat to talk to liberals -- she'd be rather boring. All I was trying to do was bring this odd phenomenon to light. Click here to read my original Ann Coulter article at BRAD BLOG

I found this statement while doing research: "Even Freud admitted that death was sexier than, well, sex. In his incendiary tract Beyond the Pleasure Principle, the grandfather of psychoanalysis admitted that something deeper than the search for pleasure motivates human activity. It's an instinct that's expressed most spectacularly in aggression or destruction, and makes the wish for oblivion overwhelmingly exciting. Freud called it the death drive."

What I want to see is a new era in which peace is finally sexy. It starts with really listening to each other and getting rid of our hidden ego-driven agendas. Although I have to admit, I pay far too much attention to the nay-sayers; if a hundred people are cheering and one is sneering, I'm bothered too much by the one who is sneering. That's because my ego is still in the way.

Cheers to the Nobel Peace Prize winners: Mohamed ElBaradei and the International Atomic Energy Agency -- and to Salma Hayek's beautiful statement: "When we can collectively, as a social conscience, dream a dream of peace, this is when peace will become a very tangible reality," she said.

What you focus on GROWS!

I think Lydia is milking this for every thing she can get. Lydia, Ann responded to your insinuations vaguely. She isn't giving you any attention to this.

I can only assume you and Brad were hoping that she would go on Fox News and talk about it to create hype for your book (probably at the request of a low profile publisher that suggested doing so before he/she would even consider publishing your "hate speak" against Coulter in the first place).

It's been almost three weeks since your first mention of Coulter. You are still talking about it - she is not.

Do you have anything else to write about? It's getting boring.

Why don't you just change your "private" number? AOL allows you to change your email address as well.

It's over - you have gotten all the attention that you are getting from this...LOL.

  2. "Make love, not war!" as the saying goes. We all need to be doing more of the former and less of the latter.

Worfeus: May I ask where you heard "representations of hell are figurative" and "In my fathers house are many mansions". This is new to me and seems much more balanced for a supreme being. Interesting, but is there proof, or is this speculation?

Jesus once grabbed a child and said "you will not make it into the kingdom of heaven unless you are like the innocence of this child". Well that certainly is it for me - Im doomed. And it is certainly relieving to know that I may not be tortured for eternity for not being innocent but rather placed in a fancy mansion.

Nevertheless,I still have to insist that God tells me such things himself if he really wants me into his kingdom; this is the only real true proof.

Obviously quite intelligent,I respect your quest and understand that you do not have all the answers. It seems you are not like those very funny people on Benny Hinn. My aunt was such a nut she wouldnt let her kids drink from a cup if it said virgo or scorpio on it becuase she believed it was the work of the devil.Comic books were forbidden as well; she was so confused and lost.

Also,I loved your Herman Goering quote in a previous blog.

Lydia: Your beginning to sound like me. This odd phenonomon is mans absolute incapability for true peace; there will always be war, with or without religion. Lobotamy anyone?

"O'Reilly and Hannity & Colmes do not allow rebuttal or diverse opinions when Coulter is on their shows."

Lydia, this is NOT true. Colmes himself is Coulter's diverse opinion. In addition they put her up against Ellis Hennican, Bob Beckel, Susan Estrich, etc.

She is good friends with Bill Maher and goes on his show and debates him as well.

She remains peaceful with Maher and Colmes because it is possible to have a different opinion and even say biting things about the other in the political arena alone AND remain friends.

I consider Maher and Colmes on Ann's intellectual level. Even though they disagree, Ann enjoys having repartee with them.

They understand the invective and vice versa. If you are going to survive in the political arena, you must understand it.

Incidentally, if liberals win a Presidency, I firmly believe it will be because of liberals like Colmes or Maher. Not smear liberals who want to censor the opposite opinion.

  9. Who are the liberals trying to censor the opposite opinion? It's not about censorship, it's about trying to create a dialogue that doesn't degenerate into vile invective.

If the conservative message had substance, that would be one thing. But it doesn't. It's all about wanting to tell others how to live their lives. And the message usually is delivered in a very nasty manner (ie, Ann Coulter). That's not the conservatism that I grew up with and supported years ago. That's why I no longer support the Republican Party. In general, they've turned into jerks. That's not hyperbole. It's the truth. And it's something that is exemplified from the top on down...Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rove, the list goes on and on.

The good news is that more Americans are finally realizing this, and they're not going to put up with the BS anymore. That's why we see Bush's approval numbers dropping through the floor.

Worfeus: I certainly believe you when you say such explanations would require a thesis and appreciate your effort, however, I can sincerely and, genuinely say that - I really hope you and Lydia are right and I am wrong.

I would , however, appreciate a GIANT thesis on the intoxicating blindness of people who follow megalomaniacs like ann colter, benny hinn, etc...I almost feel sorry for these lost souls.

I admire Lydias efforts at trying to make the trains run on time ,but, one must understand that billions of individuals all over this planet have their own unique version of how they feel the trains should run on time. It is pure LUNACY to even suggest that one individual could possibly convince an entire planet to follow/believe in his/her own version.

This is why there will always be war and true peace infinitely impossible.

Im ready to blast off to Vulcan whenever you are Worfeus.

Did anyone notice how when Tookie was put to death the liberal Hollywood freaks were very vocal and wanted this murderer kept alive? However, when poor Terry Shivo was sentenced to starve to death very slowly no liberal freaks would speak up!

I just don't know if liberals have a moral high ground like they claim they do. Ask yourselves these questions:

If you go to a prison filled with criminals and ask for their party affiliation, why is it they are almost all Democrats.

If you go to a welfare office and ask for their party affiliation, why is it they are almost all Democrats?

In an abortion clinic, they are overwhelmingly Democrats.

The anti-war protestors often wreak of the smell of pot and look dirty!

Lastly, I beleive Worfeus is obsessed with Lydia. I guess all those sexy pictures of Lydia that were posted on this site must have paid off! LOL!

I was a big fan of yours when you were on Too Close For Comfort. Thought you were hilarious in "Curb". But it's your writing which will change the world.

Sorry to snap at ya Lydia :)

Drewls own version of making the trains run on time may differ than that of Worfeus's. My version would most certainly conflict with Lydias, however, the question is: Despite our differences can we still be amiable and have a cold beer together with a nice plate of spaghetti and meatballs on toast at my house on Friday night? Play a game, laugh?

Would this not be true peace?

If conceivable (and Im not saying it is)could the very nice Lydia be capable of sitting down with ann colter sometime and do the above?

If not conceivable, I rest my case about true peace.

Also,Worfeus is not obssesed with Lydia, my teenage daughter is.A perfect ten herself, she went "OMIGOD" at Lydias beauty from the 1980's.

"Who are the liberals trying to censor the opposite opinion? It's not about censorship, it's about trying to create a dialogue that doesn't degenerate into vile invective."

The liberals at University of Connecticut last week who kept shouting and playing boom boxes to prevent Ann Coulter from giving a speech in which she was paid $16,000 for.

It would depend on what you would characterize as "vile invective" See "invective" is allowed in the political arena. There's nothing wrong with it. It's been going on for centuries. Then thanks to liberals like John Lennon and the slow downfall of decency - yes it came to an all time low. Liberals have been arguing like this for years. Calling conservatives nazis, stupid, sexist, homophobes...blah blah blah. Ann Coulter comes out and throws it back (with a little intellectual backing) and now it's "vile invective".

Have you listened to Bill Maher recently, Michael Moore, Al Franken?

Last but not least - this is free speech! If the students at University of Connecticut did not like Ann Coulter, why did they attend the lecture? They obviously cannot sustain the "dialogue" that you are demanding. So instead they throw food, scream "Hitler" and "Stalin", along with the other very clever things they come up with.

Hey I have a new assignment for liberals: Strip away the rhetoric from any one of her speeches, listen to the speech - then tell me what Ann actually believes in - THEN refute it. That's the American way.

  18. Lydia:

The other night it disturbed me to learn the trouble Coulter has caused for you and your family and later that evening I almost went to bed without reading a bit from the bible, but my soul kept being urged to read a little scripture before going to sleep. I sat up and prayed asking God to show me what He wanted me to read. I opened up the Bible at random and it just happened to open up on Proverbs Chapters 12 & 13. Granted I'm reading from the Children's Bible, but its awesome. You should check it out when you have time. To me it was like God was saying, 'Son, I know you're concerned for Lydia and her family - and have watched her career flourish since Too Close For Comfort, but don't worry she & her family are in good hands - I'm watching over them.' It was also like He was agreeing that you're on the right track with all that you're doing too, because it's all for the good and well-being of mankind. I found it to be very moving and inspirational. Truly awesome. Well, it may seem odd to you but I just had to share that with you.

Take care and good night again. :D

Lydia started a fight, and it cracks me up that you people are saying "the trouble Coulter started"......up until five minutes ago, Coulter did not even know that Cornell existed!

Have someone write about you and compare you to Stalin, and tell me how you'd react? LOL.

I can't believe Lydia is still whining about Ann Coulter. First Lydia sends a letter with her phone # and e-mail address to Ann. Then she complains about what a victim she is since Ann posted it exposing Lydia for what she is.

Lydia - you are a has-been actress that is obviously looking for something better to do. I suggest you take up trash collection as a profession.

I can name countless conservatives who oppose liberal points fairly and honestly without posting private information. What Ann Coulter did was evil. Assuming Lydia is telling the truth, what if that guy who came to her house and scared her children, had done something worse? It seems that Ann thinks she is above the law and even human morality. She can say anything she likes about liberals yet she can cry foul when she is attacked (There is actually a column of hers where she does this entitled Journalism: Where even the men are women) and even resorts to vindictive stunts. Almost any other conservative who is visciously attacked and insulted by the left has my sympathy but after this, Ann is fair game. She needs to learn that if you live by the sword, you perish by the sword.
